Great streaming device. One of my favorites. Have used my Samsung TV, Apple TV and Firestick. This, by far, is the fastest and smoothes of them all. It can do so much too. Glad they changed from a touch volume control to buttons, it could get annoying try to change the volume and it not registering. Also the AI Upscaling looks real good, the control shape is a little weird.

So glad I made this purchase. Huge upgrade over roku or firestick with zero lagging. This box flies. Upscaling to 4k works great.

Passthrough atmos, with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support? Nothing else beats the shield. Ya, you probably don't need this, unless you have a top end HDR 4k tv with a sound system to match. I have to say though, I run some 720p videos on Plex that I play and the one thing no one else can do that the shield does is this uses AI upscaling and it auto scales up my videos to run nicely on 4k. Really impressive feature.

Not only does this version of Android TV run smooth as butter, it doubles as a PLEX server for all my digital media. It is fast, reliable, and also can stream games via GeForce Now which works much better than something like Stadia, and uses the games you already own rather than forcing repurchases. If an app isn't available on this thing, you can bet that it can be sideloaded via Android. It really is a great device.

I highly recommend this powerful box - it is easy to setup, easy to use and the picture and sound quality is excellent! Side loading is critical for me as I use DIRECTV Streaming and there is no App on the play store for that - but with the side loading capability it is/was easy to get the app loaded and working.

This was expensive, but works well. I don't like that is shows frames from whatever I've been watching. I like that it will play video from an external hard disk. For me, paying the extra money for the Pro version is well worth it - I have a lot of content on the hard drive, and it makes it easy to use for audio or video. There's apparently no way to view text or read books with this device. This will also work with Kodi, but I haven't set this up yet. I like the feel of the remote-it fits my hand well, and it doesn't want to slip out, like the flat remotes might do. Aside from its shape, I'm not thrilled with the remote - when I try to turn the volume up, half the time, I press the microphone button (I don't look at the remote when I use it), and the screen freezes until I wait for it to wake up or press the 'back' button on the remote. BestBuy says that this comes with Fubo -- it doesn't. This DOES come with six months of Paramount +. I haven't taken that offer yet - I'm not sure if there's anything there that I really want to see. I haven't tried upscaling the picture to 4K - I don't have a TV or monitor that can do 4K.

This device is very easy to setup and start using. It also works extremely well. It's a whole lot faster than the Firestick that I was using before I purchased this. I've only had it for a month, but it's never hung up or reset on me yet. The Firestick did this repeatedly each time I used it.

Runs every TV app available in the android store, transcodes any video file you throw at it with Plex, and is very fast with streaming games. I tried the free geforcenow trial and played Cyberpunk over the internet with max graphics and it barely broke a sweat. Unless you are absolutely entrenched in the appletv ecosystem, this is the best streaming box you can buy

I used the previous model but decided to upgrade since my TV supports Dolby Vision. I'm glad I made the switch since it does upscaling so well. I like the new remote design. If you fine with your current NVIDIA SHIELD then just stick with it. But if you got yourself a new 4k TV with Dolby Vision and want to take advantage of the AI upscaling then why not upgrade.

The Best Streaming Device On The Market!!

I ordered the 2019 Shield TV Pro because the AI-enhanced upscaling that experts are calling the "best they've ever seen." Upscaling is usually a gimmick and current TVs and receivers do a poor job at it nearly all of the time. The norm when reading expert TV reviews is a recommendation to disable the onboard video upscaling for the best picture quality. I can attest the Shields A.I upscaling does make a big difference and newer TV's will see the biggest difference especially in animations. The interface is better than Fire TV Cube, and the new Fire TV Cube doesn’t have two USB 3.0 inputs for extra storage. You can use any programmable or learning (aka “universal”) IR remote. You can use any Bluetooth controller. You can stream live TV with the right apps if you’re a subscriber to that live TV service. It’s fast. It’s small. It looks pretty cool. Not only does it work, but there is absolutely nothing I can think of that anyone would want to do with it as a video streaming device, that this device can’t do. It is far and away the absolute best device for that purpose.

You can actually store video files on this device and play them with an app. Dead-nuts simple remote. Add storage with an external device, use apps for streaming. So nice.

if you are looking for one of the best android devices for streaming (and if you want to go crazy with some retro gaming) i highly recommend this to everyone. if you are just trying to stream items such as netflix and other apps and looking for something cheaper get a fire tv stick 4k ... those that need a little more power get this device vs the amazon cube (my recommendation)

The #1 Android TV streamer ... bar none. Everything just works. Using it to stream my Plex library along with all other streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney+ etc. No issues playing Dolbyvision content and passes through Dolby Atmos to my soundbar without any problems. Extremely responsive menu system and love the backlit remote that is a huge upgrade from the previous version.

I purchased this after buying the new Chromecast and not being impressed with its processing power. It was slow and laggy, even though it was brand new. When I installed the SHIELD even my wife, who isn't very into technology, said how great it felt navigating through menus and how the remote felt better in her hand - and I agree! I love being able to play games from my desktop PC, which is upstairs, on the big 4k TV in my living room. I use wired connections on both ends, and the input delay and latency is virtually unnoticeable - a great contrast to the chromecast where I had significant input delay. The AI upscaling also looks great. Playing 1080p content and upscaling to 4k is nearly indistinguishable from native 4k playback. The remote has a beeper in it so that, of you lose it, you can use the "find remote" feature and the remote will start beeping so you can find it. The remote shape was a little concerning to me because it's so different, but after much use, I like its shape. It doesn't get lost in the couch so easily and it really doesn't feel strange in your hand. Overall, if you are interested in a Android TV device, and want to get the best there is to offer, then look no further. This has all the bells and whistles you could hope for and then some!
