I use the Shield Pro to stream YouTubeTV and other apps. The basic upscaling is excellent. Overall picture is excellent. Remote control is so much better than what I experienced with ATV. I mean, not even close. This remote feels good in my hand and has all the functions except one, the mute button. However, you can do what I did and that is download the app button mapper and configure Netflix as a mute button.
I had ATV and my wife uses Roku, but this Shield Pro is the best one I've had the pleasure to use.

Other than the price, this is one of the best streaming devices. Personally, I use to replace my LG CX built-in apps because WebOS is trash. The AI upscaling is a really nice touch and I've only been watching old animes so far, but it makes such a big difference. Gaming is ok as long as you have connected via ethernet. Although I have really good internet, it tends to lag sometimes and drop in quality when connected wirelessly.
Overall, it's a great device and I hope the next edition supports 4k120hz.

The Nvidia Sheild is simply the best device on the market when it comes to streaming devices;I added a 128gb SanDisk usb flash drive to it for extra storage, which solves the issue of it only having 16gb. I have experienced pretty much zero lag or buffering. For some people this may be a bit of an overkill, & for the price of this alot of people would probably be better off buying the chromecast, however for myself the AI upscaling feature by itself makes this device worth the extra costs.

This is the best media player I have tried and I have them all! The picture is better then the Apple 4k that I have in HDR Dolby Vision on my Sony OLED A80J, The AI upscaling is real good just don't put it to high or the picture will be to sharp. I use it for basic games but mostly for streaming it as good has I was told love it.

Works well for streaming videos and games. Pricey but should last a while due to how powerful it is
Too expensive if you just want simple video streaming

Awesome android TV box for streaming. I have the 2017 model also and you will love the new remote that lights up when you first pick it up. This shield tv is top notch on my UHDTV the picture is clear and bright just watching NETFLIX and HULU. The built in storage is rather small, but at least you can add adoptable storage to it. I'm using one of Samsung thumb drives that write/read 400mbs on this box. I do recommend this Nvidia Shield tv pro as it performs great.

I've enjoyed my Android TV, but I needed a dedicated media streaming device for direct connection to my AVR. Audio options over ARC were too limited. This allows to me stream all the content I need with 4K/Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos directly to my AVR and sound equipment without relying on ARC from my TV. The remote works great even with the SHIELD about 35 feet away in a closet. Happy with my purchase.

I bought the Pro to update from the tube model. I also have an older version of the Shield. It's a great player, even if it is over two years old now. Dolby Vision and Atmos work great, as long as the app developer do their job. And that's where you might have issues. HBO has done a terrible job with the HBO Max app, and is one of the reasons I had to update to the Pro. The app would completely lock the Shield up.
If you stream ripped DVDs and Blu Rays, there is no better player than the Shield. Using a player app like Kodi or MrMC, you get full resolution, accurate resolution and framerate, and all audio codecs supported without requiring any modifications to your media. TrueHD with Atmos? No problem, as long as you have an AVR that supports it. Same with DTS Master Audio/:X. You can see the caption tracks from virtually any ripped disc, as well as OTA recorded TV.
I don't play games with my Shield, but it does have that capability. The remote included with this version of the Shield is a vast improvement over my 2017 version.
The Shield might be a bit more daunting to configure compared to a Roku, Fire TV or Apple TV. But that's because it's so much more capable. I still use Roku players in my home, but the Shield is my primary player, and if I'm streaming from my media server, it's the only choice.

If you need a good set top box for your TV this is what you want.
Pros:
-It runs Android TV which is very easy to set up and use.
-There are many, many apps to install from the Google Play Store.
-A lot of horsepower under the hood - you won't notice any slowness.
-Can play a lot of games and play them very well. You will need a game controller for playing games.
-Plays 4K content (depends on the app you use)
Cons:
-Price is high (but well worth it in my opinion).

Best streaming device you can buy. It has all of the streaming services and runs smoothly on my LG 4K OLED. The remote is a major upgrade, switched my 2017 models to the newer remote as well. No other streaming device I have used has been so reliably solid over several years. Remote controls everything over CEC and IR, no need for a universal remote. I have considered getting a fourth.

The best streamer. Nice backlit remote that also powers on my receiver and TV. Good setup. The streaming from Geforce Now surface works excellent as does local streaming from a local pc on your network. Supports the Steam streaming as well. No need to be in front of your computer to play your AAA gaming titles. Xbox controller works excellent (newer model with bluetooth). All apps run fast. The fastest experience to Netflix there is.

The 2020 nVidia Shield Pro is a great device to bring usable smart TV functions to your set. Most of the Smart TVs out there today are a little sluggish in response time and very limited as to applications that are available, and can be a challenge to use.
The nVidia Android TV boxes (both the standard and the PRO) do not suffer this problem. Wide availability of applications, easy, comfortable remote, with games to boot.
The AI Up scaling to 4K is actually pretty impressive feature. If you have a 4K TV, it does a nice job of scaling regular full HD streams to 4K without creating a fuzzy, less than desirable experience. The form factor for the box is nice and small, but has some nice expansion capabilities to it as well. the 16GB is a little bit limiting if you're going to install a lot of games, but, nVidia gives you the option of adding USB storage/drives and unlike smart phones, nVidia let's you format the space as system storage, giving you more room to store everything from photos, to movies, and more.
This device or the standard are great upgrades. Highly recommend them!

Nvidia shield, had one for over 10 years now, this is one for the basement. Little bit newer version basically just as good as the other one! Streams better than any streaming box I've ever owned before. Highly recommended! Worth every penny!

I tried Google's Chromecast, I tried Amazon's Fire Stick, I tried the Roku streamer, and they all disappointed in one key area: upscaling! If you have a 4K TV, watching 4K content is going to look great either using one of the aforementioned streamer options, or by watching it via the built-in app on your TV. The problem arises when you watch something that's less than 4K. All your TV is going to do is stretch that lower resolution content to fit on your 4K TV, and as a result, it's going to look particularly bad. That's where Nvidia come in with their AI-Upscaling! They use artificial intelligence to fill in the blanks caused when stretching that lower resolution content which results in a picture that looks almost as good as if it were actually 4K! For example, if you stream an HD (1080p) movie, or even an old movie that's SD (420p), the Nvidia box will use it's AI to make it look almost 4K, which is pretty awesome! And the fact that you can play games on it using "GeForce Now" is just a bonus!

This is a very powerful machine for its form factor. A nice remote that is ergonomic and it lights up and can be found with a beeper. The shield has a nvidia x1 chipset that can be very snappy in menus as well as allowing content to be upscaled to 4k w hdr. Emulation is a powerhouse if you are into that sort of thing everything GC down almost flawlessly.
You will enjoy this product, it is recommened to use a external drive for content.

WOW! We were very hesitant to spend this much on a media player as we already have a fire tv, hulu etc... But this thing blew them all away! So much faster than the competitors or the built in functions on smart tv's. Much better picture quality and it supports ATMOS. We really just wanted a device that could control the streaming, tv and stereo receiver with one remote and we got more than we had hoped for!

I recently purchased a new television that supports Dolby Vision & Atmos so I upgraded my 2017 Shield to the 2019 Shield mainly just for the the support of those new features but right away I noticed this new box was much improved from the 2017. It's much quicker than the previous version and the remote, oh my is the remote a much appreciated upgrade.

Excellent Streaming device. Easy to setup. Only complaint would be the Remote is So Sensitive but I think there’s a setting to adjust that. I will NEVER BUY A FIRESTICK again and if the Price deters you always remember “You Get What You Pay For” Just do your research and you’ll see It’s the Best.
