The 8 paths are all very interesting. The battles are fun and challenging and the interactions with NPCs are engaging. My only letdown is the lack of communication between the 8 characters and them being with each other on adventures

I highly recommend Octopath Traveler to anyone who likes turn-based RPGs with 2D Isometric views. The music and art for this game are amazing, and the battle system is an improvement on the Brave system from the Bravely Default series.

I got this game for my wife. Its a great through back to the classic rpgs. I really like the art style as well as the combat system. Being able to pick which character you start off with and what stories to focus on is really amazing.

If you have been looking for a more down to earth old school RPG, with a new school feel, you will feel right at home. Voice acting, good graphics, interesting dynamic/mechanic between the 8 protagonists and a good soundtrack to boot.

Square Enix did not disappoint with this one. Unique art style and satisfying combat with flexible party choices make this a no-brainer for JRPG enthusiasts that own a Switch. Enjoy it, games like this don't come around often enough.

have been playing Octopath Traveler non-stop since it released and I have not even scratched the surface of this game! Let me say this- this game does not have an overall ultimate plot like most JRPG's, instead it has 8 different plots for 8 different characters, allowing you to play out the stories in which ever order you desire. Thus far, each characters story has been enjoyable and are not heavily cliche'd like other games. The voice acting is good for the most part and there are a lot of side stories to interact with. To complete these side stories you utilize class action skills such as- Thief= Steal, Merchant= Purchase, Dancer=Allure, Scholar=Interrogate/Advise, and Hunter=Provoke. Plus these skills are good to have overall as you can gain new items or information.

One of my favorite game on the switch. You can put hours on this game and barely make a dent in it. It is turn based combat, like the old final fantasy games. This game is well polished and will definitely be worth picking up.

Its been a long time coming for Square Enix to put out a decent RPG, yet this blows it out of the water. the story, battle system, and art is amazing. a must buy of 2018 for the switch if your a fan of turn based jrpg goodness.

Perfect timing for this game. A well made game with fun stories that don’t drag out and require filler. The art and music are top notch. If you’re looking for a nice, easy pace game with unique storytelling this one is for you.

The game is fun at first, and the combat is complex, but it becomes stale and repetitive. To start you have to go around recruiting the 8 travelers to your squad and playing through their storylines, but the interactions are odd in that no NPC acknowledges the fact that you have other people in your party. Still the game presents a challenge and a long story win lots of hours to be sunk in.

One of the best JRPGs in a while. Square Enix has done it again by providing a great story and gameplay without having to sacrifice one or the other. I highly recommend this game for any true JRPG fan.

I grew up playing Final Fantasy and this game is a true throwback to an older era of gaming. The graphics are fun, the stories are interesting and the battle system is a fun twist on the traditional RPG turn-based system.

Just an amazing game, brings the nostalgia back from the best SNES role playing games.
If you loved the SNES era of RPGs you will love this one too.

A lovely JRPG that appeals to fans of both old and new games of this genre. Octopath Traveler stars 8 main characters, each of who has their own short story. The narrative is not as strong as say Persona 5, but the charm of the characters and their quirks makes the player feel all sorts of emotions throughout their stories. The gameplay, as well, is redefined for a modern age and the job system works quite well. The soundtrack and visuals are the best parts of this game, as they are reminiscent of the greatest days of the JRPG. Although sprite-based, Octopath Traveler does not disappoint due to its beautiful 2D-HD visuals and this is especially apparent in snowbound fields and golden sands and deserts. Overall, an amazing debut on the Switch.

I love this game. I tried the demo and was immediately hooked. You get to pick from 8 different characters and meet each of them during your quest. The story and music are nice too.

I absolutely loved this game. A lot like FF3 (FF6) from the SNES but obviously so much better with the Nintendo Switch power. Incredible music and gameplay, an absolute must have on a physical game copy.

Fighting gets repetitive and boring after awhile. The stories of each character is mediocre at best. There really doesn't feel to be much depth with any of them. The voice acting is horrible and annoying in the fights. Music is good though and the world takes a different approach and it's well done.

Without a doubt, this is the type of game that sells systems! Visually stunning at every turn and really shows how games could've evolved if we didn't go into 3D graphics. Every sound, every piece of music, just resonates so well with every scene. It's downright gorgeous!
Please know it is the old school style turn based system. It's a lot slower than modern games but it gives you a chance to take in all of the beautiful art. It can be a grind at times which is never fun no matter what game you play.
Without a doubt, all the high scores and reviews you're finding about this game are well deserved. It's constantly selling out in Japan. If that doesn't say how well it's being loved, I don't know what else to say.
