Octopath is a game that will keep you coming back. There are a variety of characters and ways to play. The game looks great and has a good soundtrack too.

Octopath traveler is refreshing. it brings back square enix classic elements. Graphics are nostalgiac, music is amazing. Highly recommend if you like the classics.

Awesome game I highly recommend it for the old school gamers!! It's a throwback to the great RPG's of the early 90's and has a very rich story line!! Be ready for an adventure!!

This one is for fans of old school rpgs and it does not disappoint. Great 2d graphics, nice cast, great music and 8 stories. Provides a good challenge too. Highly recommended.

Octopath Traveler is a modern take on a "classic" RPG which some may find nostalgic - I find it to be a bit of a cross between modern (with 3D maps, modern character models, etc.) - with classic gameplay. If you've played any of Square's earlier work, you'll feel right at home. As the title implies, there are 8 characters you can play with, and 8 separate stories that play their course throughout the game, though the 8 stories never converge at any point. You can download the demo for free and play for 3 hours - if you like it (as I did after playing the demo), go purchase it. If not, well... the demo may have saved you $60.

Fantastic music, lovely visuals, classic jrpg game play. If you're a fan of classic RPG's you will adore Octopath Traveler.

Excellent game with great combat, beautiful art style, good characters. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the game does rely on a lot of grinding between chapters and some story beats are more interesting than others, making the gameplay loop a bit stale at times. If that doesn’t bother you, definitely play!

This is a well designed and executed retro inspired JRPG. The turn based combat is incredible and requires considerable strategy. The music and scenery are very impressive.

Soundtrack stands out! Gameplay is easy to learn. Pick this up if you're a newcomer to JRPGs. A fun game, I just wish the stories all tied together in some way.

With pixelated, yet smooth graphics like Chrono Trigger, and the turn-based battles of Final Fantasy, this game has it all for RPG fans! There are 8 player characters to choose from as your main one, each start in their own part of the map, and each has their own unique special abilities and personal quests. The other characters can also learn those abilities as well. Each of them have at least 4 long chapters/main missions, with endless sub-quests, so you're not going to get bored. I've already put 50 hours into this, and I'm maybe halfway through. If you love classic RPGs, you need to get this!!!

This a great RPG that is reminiscent of the oldschool RPGs for the super nes. The music, artwork and gameplay mesh really well to create a beautiful piece of art.

If you love old school Final Fantasy RPGS then this is the game for you. 8 characters to choose from, each with their own unique story. Great battle system.

I have read a lot of people complaining about how disconnected the characters stories are from one another. For me this wasn't a big deal, as characters have a "banter" option during other characters main story progress. Also, the individual stories were engaging enough that I didn't really care about other characters stories meshing together. Mechanics are rock solid, 2D-HD graphics as SE calls it are beautiful and fun, and there is easily 100 hours of content here if you want to pursue end game content. One of my favorite games of the year, and the portability on Switch makes it even better!

they don't make many RPG's like this any longer, worth playing for the battle system alone and there's 8 intertwining stories to keep you busy for quite some time

A nice homage to the old days of classic SNES RPGs with a touch of modern gameplay, great soundtrack and interesting storyline. A must for your Switch collection!

There are 2 questions to ask yourself before purchasing this game: 1: Do you enjoy the graphic style? Love it or hate it, they went in an artistic direction with this one. Screenshots don't quite do it justice - because the models are infact 3D.. However they are textured in this weird 16bit/32bit hybrid texture. They move and animate wonderfully however. 2: Do you enjoy turn based JRPGs? This one has decent difficulty, and can downright punish you if you don't fully use it's combat system and level properly. It is wonderfully old school in it's feel, while retaining all of the modern quality of life evoloutions over the years. Quick travel, the ability to sort inventories, a quest tracker... all of it layered into a very old school RPG. If you answered yes to the two questions above: This game is for you. If you wavered on either of them, I would take a hard look at it. If you outright said no, then don't let the high praise suck you in. This game is what it is, only what it is and that is all it wants to be.
