This game takes me back, reminds of the glory JRPG days from the 90s. Great Music and fun combat system. Definitely recommend for anyone who loved 90s Squaresoft

The good: the 16-bit-inspired visuals are AMAZING with the hybrid 2D/3D environments. Just beautiful to look at and to explore. The combat is deep and requires you to find and exploit weaknesses in enemies, even in regular map battles. The bad: Not much of a cohesive storyline at all other than the individual "paths" the eight characters take. Despite fighting alongside each other for most of the game, they only interact with each other via occasional (and optional) scripted dialogues that are completely throwaway material. No interpersonal relationship development to speak of.

This game is amazing! I love the absolutely love the combat and art style of the game. I would definitely recommend this game for someone who love JRPG'S.

By far one of the best games on switch. If you own the console, you need this game. Story is amazing, combat is deep and fun, and the game looks beautiful.

Square Enix once again delivers an amazing game. Music is great, the sprite design is amazing and the battle system is spectacular. A bit repetitive in the long run due to random encounters requiring too much effort and story chapters following the same formula but great game nonetheless.

Stunning visuals, professional voice acting, excellent soundtrack, reasonable story, and engaging gameplay all come together for a high quality experience.

Don't let the retro graphics fool you. This is a deep JRPG that will keep you occupied for 50+ hours. Each of the eight heroes have their own unique abilities with how you can interact with towns people as well as different combat abilities. The only cons are the random battles (no onscreen enemies on the world map) and the hero you choose at the start is always in your party and can't be swapped out. These are small compromises and don't detract from an excellent game. Highly recommended.

This game successfully hits everything I want from a JRPG: good story, intriguing characters, beautiful art, great music, and great game design.

If you grew up with 16-bit role-playing games, this will be a real nostalgia trip for you. Retro graphics, random battles, etc. The intertwined stories is a neat mechanic, and this is a super polished title. So far, so great!

Very fun old school style RPG. You can play as 8 different characters and experience each of their stories, regardless of who you decide to start with. The HD 2.5 graphical style and sprite art looks amazing. The only downsides are: 1) Battles can drag on due to the break system used in the game. 2) Like older RPGs, what to do next when it comes to doing sidequests can be extremely obtuse. That said though, I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with the game.

The game was very good at the beginning but became very repetitive as it went. The difficulty spikes considerable as you go, and you have to learn the intricacies of the combat system to survive. If you are a fan of old school rpgs or games like SaGa Frontier, this is the game for you.

Excellent JRPG, in the vein of Chrono trigger. This is excellent for anybody who loves a hardcore RPG with pixel art graphics and incredible music.

This game is beautiful, the gameplay is intricate enough to keep you playing, and the music is a wonderful, tasty cherry on top. It's a great package.

A great RPG. Uses a turn-based system similar but different from Bravely Defaults with a pixel art based graphics makes this a very enjoyable RPG.

This game is a love letter to SNES era JRPGs but with enough of a modern touch to make it feel fresh. The gameplay, music and graphics are incredible.

So much replay value and I love the 16 bit style graphics. You won’t be sorry picking this one up. The story is amazing as well.

The story is what brings this game to life. Yes it's a 2D type graphics game, but that only adds to the beauty that is this game.
