The art style is gorgeous and the gameplay is fun. The story can be a bit lackluster but it is by far one of the best RPGs on the switch so far.

A visually stunning game that has been criticized for its lack of stories converging. However, each story is good, and the combat is extremely addicting and fun. Soundtrack and music are very good as well. Hopefully this inspires them to make a sequel that is even better.

Unique artstyle with a pseudo-3d feel with the graphics. The battle system is very simple and there are many classes to experiment with.

This game took me a while to get into, but once I was into it I was really INTO it. The artwork and map is so evocative of early classic JRPGs I grew up with, the soundtrack is gorgeous, and the combat system is new and exciting, very fun to strategize around.

This game is very fun. Purchased on sale, although not always easy to come by. The art style in this game is very unique.

I know everyone has talked mostly good about this game. And I must say I love graphics and I saw this game and I said "no way in would I buy that horrible 16bit graphic game." Long story short I downloaded the demo and fell in love with this game. The graphics are very good. If you miss turn base games at all you will love this one for sure. It has a fresh take on turn base games and makes you really think in battle. Just buy this game already if you are on the fence. I bought two copies, one for me and one for my father in law.

Beautiful Graphics, along with a nice soundtrack and fun gameplay, makes this a great game worth the money!

I enjoy the music, gameplay and the creative use of lighting. I am not sure that there is anything else that needs to be said.

Very reminiscent of old SNES JRPGs but with new twists to the combat system. Also some graphical updates to things such as snow.

The character designs, stories, and graphics are what make Octopath Traveler the unique game that it is. I have yet to complete the entire game but I am excited to dive further into the game and learn more about the different paths you take within the game. A must have for any JRPG fan and I highly recommend giving this game a try (Try the demo) even if you haven't played/like JRPGs. I'm sure it'll change your mind. A great quality game from a great quality company. Hope to see more gems like this in the future.

Being an older gamer, (Arcades, 2600) the direction video games are heading (Loot Boxes, DLC, shallow) sometimes rubs me the wrong way. I find myself hooking up my SNES classic, and playing through what I have always felt was the greatest generation of gaming. This game brings those memories flooding back. A fantastic old school JRPG with a modern flair, this game is one that should be on your radar. If you are an older Switch owner, this is a must have game, and it is a reason to purchase one if you are not.

Loving Octopath Traveler. Really satisfies that RPG itch - more so than Xenoblade Chronicles 2 which just becomes tedious to level up.

This is incredible for those of us who grew up in the 16bit era, RPG fans, or just anyone who can appreciate games. The HD 2D is incredible to look at and I'm surprised this hasn't been seen before. I hope this sells well enough that they expand and make another, this formula could do special things and I don't think it will be expensive to make.

So if you have been following this game’s development. And seen the early trailers for it. Then, you know what you’re getting into. But for those unaware of what Octopath Traveller is. Basically take the art style Final Fantasy 1 to 6 or any classic JRPG from the SNES era. And then modernize it besides 3D graphics. (It’s more 2.5d) But it’s such a callback to that simple era of games. And with Square Enix’s more recent big RPGs that have come out. It’s great to see such a honorable nod to that era. Overall it’s cool to have 8 total characters to choose from with different backgrounds. And abilities that shape the course of their adventure. So if you’ve been feeling like taking trip back to simpler times. Or want a unique game to play in the RPG genre. Definitely get this title or try it out at least. There’s even a demo on the Switch Eshop if you want to just try it out too.

This is a classic JRPG in a style that is no longer common. Gorgeous graphics and a very engaging battle system. Highly recommended.

This game is fantastic visually, story wise, and combat wise. Great throwback to 90s-style turn-based combat RPGs. An awesome game!

Very fun callback to the JRPGs of yesteryear. Modern environment visuals with retro character sprites help make a beautiful world.

Perfect game for the Switch for its lengthy story overall, it has great old-style final fantasy gameplay and much more to offer!

I have always hated JRPGs. This is the game that changed my mind. Art style pulled me in. Game play and story kept my there.
