I say intro because by now a multitude of headsets are hitting the market. For a 350$ price tag it’s still top notch compared to phone vr. The rift has its design flaws but right now every headset has its great positives and negatives. The is by far the funnest way to game or watch any kind of 3d or movie content. The rift controllers feel great in your hand and very natural compared to the htc model. The lenses aren’t the greatest compared to others as well but this is the most bang you get for your buck!

If you want to experience gaming on a completely different level, the Oculus Rift is where it's at!!! Are the graphics a crisp 4K? Not even close. VR is in it's infancy meaning the graphics aren't stellar. So why am I so hyped? Because you are IN the game!! Flying a flight sim turns from a 2D experience using buttons to look around (sort of) into ,"OMG I'm IN this plane looking around!" /gasp!!! It's an entirely immersive experience that you have to try to believe.

PROS Immersive VR experience. Works with Oculus and SteamVR platforms. Now includes both conventional gamepad and Oculus Touch controllers. CONS Requires four USB ports (three 3.0, one 2.0) to fully function. BOTTOM LINE The Oculus Rift is a powerful, PC-tethered VR headset that's even more appealing now thanks a lower price and the inclusion of Oculus Touch motion controllers.

I love this! Got it for my gaming laptop and it runs perfectly! Some games can make you a little dizzy and you need to make sure you have plenty of room to play! Otherwise you can not see outside of the headset and are destined to run into something if there is stuff in your play area! It runs great and the headset is customizable fit that works even if you wear glasses. This is an amazing product!!

First I’ll start with the controllers. They are perfect. They feel so good to hold and it feels natural using the grip buttons and triggers. The headset adjusts well to any head size. The headphones and mic are high quality. Overall very good hardware.

Cards on the table, I bought the HTC Vive first. I only picked this up after touch controllers came out, and it was on sale. The product is pretty great, like the built in headphones. I prefer this setup for sitting down VR. Touch controllers are very nice, but I use mainly for flight sims, so I use a HOTAS joystick and throttle. I only have 2 of the sensors and they are easy to setup, but not as versatile room scale without a 3rd sensor. Still for 300-400$, not a bad buy.

I first had a chance to experience the oculus while deployed and vowed to myself that I would eventually one day purchase one. The timing and price were finally aligned where i could purchase it and i will forever be grateful i did. The touch controllers are comfortable and work exceptionally well and the headset is also comfortable. The VR experience is top notch and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants the best experience ever.

The Rift is an excellent system. It is easy to set up and runs incredibly smoothly. The only warning I would give is to make sure you have a graphics card that is good enough As for the software, the Rift comes with a few free games, with access to a Steam-like marketplace to find more. I really enjoyed the free games, though I would say that they all shorter than a regular PC game and some of them are "experiences," meaning that you kind of just sit and watch what goes on around you. I think the most limiting factor of the system so far is the small library of games. Otherwise, the experience itself is great!

The Oculus Rift VR gaming bundle was purchased as a gift to our 11 year old grandson. Since he received them, and we got them hooked up, he literally spends the majority of his time in the realm of VR. To enamor an eleven year old techie like that tells me these things are the cutting edge of Virtual Reality at an affordable price.

    Smoother than WMR VR

I had a Windows Mixed Reality headset before getting this Rift headset and I have to say the Rift is MUCH smoother than the Acer WMR on my Ryzen 5 / GTX 1060 PC. I tend to get a bit of VR sickness because I'm new to VR, but with the Rift it's a LOT less because it tracks and displays faster than the Acer WMR. I don't mean to say the WMR is bad, it's not. It's just that the Rift is so much better in almost every way. I do prefer the controllers of the WMR except that the tracking on WMR is a lot less accurate compared to the Rift.

Recommend you try in the store first. It was a unique experience but I can't immerse myself if I see pixels and feel cables attached to me. Hopefully the next generation would have more games and better resolution.

More affordable than the HTC. You don't get full body tracking. Off the bat. But everything else offered is amazing. The two hand controllers fit well with mid- smaller hands I'm not sure if they would be a good fit for someone with larger hands.for example; if you can grip a basketball with one hand, then these controllers might not be a good fit for you. Everything else about the Oculus is solid.

The oculus rift with touch is a great addition to a gaming setup. It wildly outperforms the phone be headsets and is much more immersive. If you have a well spec d computer I would totally recommend!

The Oculus Rift is something I've wanted for some time. Just the idea of VR fascinated me. It's the best tech purchase I've ever made. The games, both free and higher end have been a joy. My favorites are In Death (a archery FPS) and X-Rebirth, which is massive, complex and I've still not figured it out, but just flying around lost, is still worth the price. A+

When it is working well, it is incredible, but there are some issues that hold it back some. I have a larger space available for room scale VR but the sensors try to contain me to a smaller area (I purchased a third sensor as well) so I am constantly seeing the "walls" when I am moving. I also get errors in the headset at times stating that it can't find a signal, but it does this when it is receiving a signal just fine and I am using the device (so the error message is displaying in error). Other than these things though, it is great, and it's worth dealing with these issues.

This product has been very enjoyable, while there are some games that produce motion sickness, there is something for everyone. You can sit in the forest or a waterfall for hours, or, if you want more action, there's plenty of FPS (first person shooters) or RPGs(Role Playing Games) available. Great product, hoping the technology continues to progress. Recommendation: A steam account is also recommended for more variety of activities.
