NOT FOR DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING USERS

I initially rejected the notion of a continuing-pay for use model, but with two laptops and a desktop to keep current, I reconsidered when I recently replaced one of the laptops. Installation was curiously easy and I quickly learned that ease of installation is related to the product’s most glaring shortcoming! The applications do not become 100% resident on the target devices. Instead, some sort of hybrid local/cloud/background is employed. It is this non-localized application residence that renders Office 365 largely incompatible with Nuance’s Dragon Naturally Speaking! Neither company is particularly forthcoming about this glaring shortcoming. Each conveniently points a finger at the other, while neither bothers of offer a reasonably visible and/or accessible compatibility warning ― not one that a customer is likely to see prior to purchase anyway. So… If you are a fan/user of Nuance’s Dragon Naturally Speaking, know that Dragon will NOT FUNTION with Microsoft Office 365 applications as you expect them to and certainly NOT in the way that Dragon users have become accustomed. Dragon dictation CANNOT be input directly into (for example) a Word document. The ONLY means of input is the multi-step process of (1) dictating first to the simple text Dragon dictation Pad, (2) selecting the desired text from the pad, (3) cutting or copying the selected text from the Pad and (4) pasting the text to your Word document. Even Google’s free office suite does a better job than this! It too requires use of the Dragon Pad, but the with the Google app, the Dragon Pad is called up when dictating begins and moving the Dragon Pad text to the document is accomplished more easily with the Dragon Pad Transfer command. So… While this wholly unexpected and unacceptable compatibly issue lingers, at least I get to keep paying each and every year for the privilege of, Microsoft Office 365. Apart from that, Office 365 functions like Microsoft Office. I have the sense that this issue will catch up with and perhaps haunt Microsoft and/or Nuance (Dragon), but a lot of money will have changed hands by then and a lot of users will feel frustrated at best, and duped at worst. CAUTION DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING USERS ― THINK TWICE ABOUT OFFICE 365!

When you buy <> you are paying for 365 days of being able to access the software. The title says it all, right? If this product worked as well as a standard Office product that is installed on a computer the price would be worth it. However, this product is slower, has less features, and is not as user friendly as an installed version of Office. If price is a consideration, and you only need this product for 1 year, and you don't mind this product being slower than a standard Office product that is installed on your computer, then by all means get this product. We all know what Office is capable of and this product will do all that you need done. However, if speed is important to you, if you are used to Office and get frustrated when things are different, and you need access to your files for longer than a year you'll want to buy a different office productivity suite.

At first I was excited about the potential of this product. However, Microsoft advertised 1TB of cloud storage, but they neglect to tell you that they have a limited on the number of items. My files are 58GB but because of their file restrictions I can only store about half of my documents in their cloud. This means that I have to split my files and keep in 2 locations, which is counter productive. Microsoft should remove the arbitrary limit on the number of files and allow the storage that they advertise and that you are paying for. I have also recently seen a slow down in the performance of the Office products. Since their recent updates I am constantly waiting on the programs to respond while in the middle of my work. Very frustrating and ridiculous that such poor performance.

Forget the F1 Help. Even doing things Office 2007 did simply are unfathomable here and difficult to find. So go to help. Think typing a simple question (which Google manages to do so easily) into the search box would yield answers? Think again. Even inputting a simple single word yields all sorts of absolutely unrelated nonsense. Also if I ask a question in Word, you'd think they'd leave EXCEL answers out...but NO. I lost my hard drive, OS, and had to invest in another computer. So I need another Office 365 every 365 days! I just hopes this works without fail on WIN 10. They really should have a simple word processing program that doesn't do everything for everyone. Keep it simple to learn. Kind of like Adobe's Photoshop Elements. or Premiere Elements. Or Lightroom Elements ( wait...adobe hasn't offered that ...yet). The 5 user is clever way to ensnare your entire family into the 365 day dishout for subscription, but hey...what the options?

    Where is the old functionality

I am used to my own purchased version of Office and this is very disappointing. Give me back my old Outlook and PowerPoint. I am having so many issues trying to get the old functionality I had and waste way too much time. On screen help is virtually non-existent. I have to go to the Microsoft website and hunt around for help. I’ve used office for years and thought the transition would be seamless. I was wrong. I am going to go back to my outdated version that at least I could work efficiently. I am sure that after a few months and many many hours I will have figured out my most common tasks but in the meantime I am not enjoying it.

I have always used Microsoft Word, but Microsoft''s attempts to save on production costs have created an unfriendly consumer product. I expected a CD to accompany my Word purchase. Instead, I received a piece of cardboard with involved instructions on how to access Word online. The printing was done with microscopic registration, requiring a magnifying glass. I was interrupted several times with error messages and was finally asked to contact Microsoft technical support to finish installation. Thanks Microsoft. You saved yourself money. Now reimburse me for my time and frustration! Dean Ulsenheimer

Microsoft seems to have gone back 20 years in the look and layout of their office products. Office 2010 has better layout and graphics and much easier to see and work with. For themes MS Office 365 (2016) only offers White (very little contrast between menus and user area); Dark Gray (very depressing), and Colorful (a laugh) which only colors the menu bar (blue for Word, green for Excel, etc.). I wish I would have stayed with Office 2010!!! I usually like to try new things, but I have wasted 3 weeks on this supposedly improved product.

I started using Office corporately and professionally when it first came out about 20 years ago. I prefer the simplicity of Google's products. The latest features of Office365 need some customization and don't flow as well as previous versions. Can't beat the price though - Like $40 for six people, then $60 per year for the six people after that....

I had just purchased the 1-year office for my home computers and installed them all. Not even a month later my subscription said it had expired. After several phone calls I was finally able to speak to a Microsoft rep and she advised me that there are technical issues with Office being bought at Best Buy. I was given credit + extra months through them. It was really a hassle. I had never had this happen before but will renew my Office directly from Microsoft next year.

Office includes word and excel, both of which I use. But this new application is very difficult for this novice computer user to understand. Geek Squad fails to recognize the different levels of knowledge among their customers, and they tend to treat us all as if we either do, or should, be able to follow their thought processes. Even after taking my computer to Geek Squad for de-bugging, etc. I remain unable to use it to my satisfaction. I would, frankly, prefer to return this computer and find one that actually works.

Download and installation was a nightmare. Never again. Could not download onto my computer - was told I had the wrong operating system by Microsoft people. My system - new Dell laptop with windows 7!!! Took Microsoft people three (3) hours to download and get operational. Wasted a month trying to get Microsoft 365 going. My background - seven (7) years as a program manager of a program that was developing a radiation hardened satellite processor (computer) plus the software.

Installed Office 2013 as an upgrade from 2010. Programs open very slowly. Microsoft needs to abandon the whole account login portion of their products. I get the need for safety and security, but having to login with a Microsoft account seems rather intrusive and slows the programs down. The themes for all of the office product have a white background, which apparently cannot be changed. Gets very difficult to see after a short while and becomes quite blinding if reading a spreadsheet too long.

I don’t know why this can’t just be pre installed onto computers like it used to be. You pay so much for a computer and then have to add the price of this on top of it? Very frustrating, and then I have to pay every dang year to renew! What a racket! I just don’t know how you get around not having it for school kids. That’s the only reason I’m going to say I would recommend it.

I need to have Microsoft Office to do my work, but I am not necessarily a Microsoft fan. The company monitors whatever a user is working on and collects data on how they use their private computers. Who do they send this data to? What is it really used for? Why should we pay to use software when the company creating it sells our data to someone without our permission? Why can't we simply by software and keep companies like Microsoft out of our personal business?

Outlook 2016 Crashes Computer; Slow Loading

My computer crashes 4-5 times per day since installing Office 365, and seems to be caused by Outlook. Had a Microsoft certified tech expert reinstall it and check it but cannot figure out why it crashes. Excel and Word are very slow to load, clumsy to use. The programs have supposedly been changed/updated but nothing seems to be an improvement. I would wait until the bugs are out, if ever, and then try it. I would not recommend it.

Having lots of problems with this product. It is downloaded on my computer but stops working when I try to print a document also sometimes when I want to reopen a saved document. I've used the helpline and they helped me in the moment but I am still having issues. My kids need this for school so it is frustrating every time they need to do some thing for school and it takes way longer then necessary to get this done.

The first of 5 installations was a breeze but when installing on the second computer it took forever. We had to send an email to the user then they had to except it and then download the subscription. The worst part was a "hacker" called our home phone and said they were there to help us install the software... all they needed was our IP address... "I don't think so!" Microsoft needs to watch out for that.

overall, I think this is an average product. I am surprised that they do not make it easier to do a clean install of Microsoft office. Most of my rules in Outlook were dysfunctional and needed to be re-created. In addition, all my safe senders needed to be re-created. I cannot believe they do not allow you to backup your settings appropriately. overall, I am not a fan of Microsoft.

When I purchased this software I was not informed that the only way to access or use was to be hooked to a Wifi signal. Where I live that signal is not available without driving to a location that supports. This is my "home" computer and this makes it virtually worthless. I wish that I was told at the time of purchase.
