Used it with the program Krita and it worked wonders for me as a beginner with digital drawing tablets

Only problem is you have to stare at pc screen while drawing. Daughter decided she is going to return it and try a tablet for drawing.

It does take some time to get used to it, it is not as simple as writing on a high tech touch screen, but it does the trick. Very affordable, and (almost) ready to use in most common linux distributions.
