Customers commend the Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm for its simple and quick installation, as well as the inclusion of a night light feature with adjustable brightness. The alarm is also praised for its loudness and clear distinction between fire and carbon monoxide alerts. However, some users have reported issues with push notifications and the device's inability to connect to 5 GHz WiFi networks.

=== Summary ===
The Onelink Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm is a pretty decent product. It offers the usual 2-in-1 alert protection from carbon monoxide (CO) and smoke, comes in a clean & minimal design that is not an eyesore, setup is fast & simple, and both its alarm sound effects & voice notifications are loud and clear. For $120, however, I expected better smart home integration with more ecosystems, such as Google Home and SmartThings. Also, it failed in one important and basic metric. Because of that, I rate it 2 Stars.
_____
*Pros:
-2-in-1 protection.
-Clean & mininal design.
-Fast & easy installation.
-Voice notifications are informative, clear, and loud.
-Alarm sounds for CO and Smoke are both very loud & distinct.
-The Onelink smartphone app is fast, responsive, well-designed, & neatly organized.
_____
*Neutral:
-Doesn't support 5 GHz WiFi.
-No support for Google Home or SmartThings.
_____
*Cons:
-When the alarm went off, it did NOT send me a push notification to my phone.
==== Design & Build ====
I find the round-corner square design in white to be clean, minimal, and pleasing to the eye. The plastic build material and quality are both excellent and the back plate and the main unit snapped together effortlessly. Inside the box, there are three power adapter plugs, all very useful to have in hand for fast and simple installation. In my case, I used the plug with the three open wires on one side.
Although this is the hard-wired version, there is a backup battery inside, which the manufacturer states will work as a standalone detector for a few weeks should it lose power for some reason. That's definitely reassuring and good. The battery level was already 100% out of the box.
5 Stars!
==== Set Up ====
The setup process couldn't have been any easier. Before powering up the detector for the first time, I downloaded & installed the Onelink app from the Play Store and created an account. I logged in to the app, powered up the detector, and followed the onscreen prompts to add it to my home WiFi network. This whole process took literally two minutes on my Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone. Thumbs up!
==== Onelink App & Smarthome Control ====
The Onelink app was a pleasure to use. To my surprise, the interface was very clean and designed following Google's Material Design language. Navigating around the app was fast and lag-free and all the important setting options were neatly sorted & easy to find.
When you first open the app, you'll see the picture of your detector located in the room where you decided to set the detector into during the initial setup process. Tap on the room and you'll be taken to a different screen where all the useful information reside - Battery Level, Wi-Fi status, Device Status, an option to test the detector's functionality, an option to silence the detector, and an option to adjust its "Nightlight" brightness level.
There is also a "Recent History" tab where you can see all the alerts & activities that have occurred.
Tapping on the cog Settings icon is where more options are available - Language, Room, Announcement, Push Notifications, and device info (e.g., firmware, serial number).
All in all, it's a clean and speedy design and I like it.
With that said, there was one thing I was majorly disappointed about. This detector, although it supports Amazon Alexa, is not supported by Google Home and SmartThings. I expect most new and modern smarthome products to support at least Alexa and Google Home. I love it when things support all three. Hopefully, at least the Google Home support will be coming later via a firmware update.
I'm knocking One Star off here for that.
==== Performance ====
Due to safety reasons, I didn't purposely test out the CO detection part. But I did create a controlled fire inside a can and tested out its smoke detection capability. As I had hoped, the Onelink detector sounded the alarm very loudly & also spoke out saying there is a fire. See my short video clip here:
https://youtu.be/ZFnJKuhpcsw
When I tried to silence the alarm through the Onelink app, I couldn't. That's because the alarm failed to create a push notification first to my phone. Without that push notification, the silence option simply wasn't selectable. To make things worse, this recent "smoke fire" event did not even register and get entered into the "Recent History" tab.
This is a MAJOR fail by First Alert. If I had been away from my home and the alarm had gone off, I would not even had known about it. Push notifications have been around for a LONG time so there is no excuse for any company to get this wrong.
Minus 2 Stars.
==== My Take ====
Although the Onelink Smart Smoke & CO Detector is attractively designed and promptly detected the smoke in my testing, its poor push notification system, aka broken, prevents me from recommending this. If it can't send a push notification to my smartphone in case of an alarm event, then it's not a "smart" home device. It's better to save $70 and get a non-smart one that can detect both smoke and CO.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that Google Home and SmartThings aren't compatible with the Onelink Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector at this time. In regards to receiving push notifications, we first suggest following the steps below:
1.) Confirm that your Onelink app is set to ‘Allow Notifications’ in your mobile phone settings. 2.) Confirm your alarm(s) settings are configured to ‘Receive Push Notifications’ in the Onelink app. You can do this by clicking on the alarm in the Onelink app and selecting the gear icon in the top right. There you can enable or disable push notifications.
Keep in mind, notifications will be sent to your mobile device once the alarm has completed multiple cycles of the alarm sounding ensuring you are notified in the event of a possible emergency. The time to receive notifications to your mobile devices varies depending on your router & internet and iPhone service providers speed. In general, notifications will be received on your devices in about 60 seconds.
If you are still not receiving notifications, we would like to talk to you to further assist. Please provide your contact information to [email protected] and we’ll reach out at your convenience. You can also reach us at 1-833-ONE-LINK (663-5465). We look forward to hearing from you.

Once Setup-Great!

This smoke detector/carbon monoxide alarm is really cool. The hardest part is the setup and I’ll explain why.
After installing the device on the ceiling and connecting it with one of the three provided adapters to the pre-existing hardwire system; I had to finish connecting with the app. It should be noted that this cannot connect to 5ghz wifi and must be connected to 2.5ghz band. The app would not connect to the smoke detector to finish setting everything up. At the end of the setup it failed and then would set off the alarm. WOW is the alarm loud! After silencing the alarm I had to push the center button 5 times to have it restart the setup. On the third time I got everything connected and running. It should have only taken one time but maybe there was a glitch for the day with the app. Reason I dropped one star.
The alarm is great other than that. It speaks to you and tells you what’s going on. The alarm is so loud! It’s like the industrial alarms you would here at hotel or school. The siren is good to wake you up in the middle of the night if there is an emergency so I like the loud factor. Cool part is there is a night light feature that you can adjust the brightness in the app. It’s in my hall way so it’s cool the have the light on and I adjusted the light ring to the exact brightness to my liking. The app is cool other than the setup. The app allows you to silence the alarm without having to get a chair or ladder which is a big plus. The app also allows you to check to make sure the fire and carbon monoxide alarms are OK, it allows you to make sure back up battery is ok (non-removable) and charged, you can see the WiFi status and if it is connected and finally it allows you to test the alarm with not actually having to touch the device. One more thing is that you can add many other first alert devices to one app.
Overall a good device to protect your home once you get it setup.

I was looking for a hardwired smoke detector that I could replace my dated one with, but that was also compatible with my Apple HomeKit. So far this has been a great addition. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was that it was a tedious setup, but once we finally got it up and running its been great

So i've been looking at smart smoke detectors for a bit. The main reason being for the title of this review. I have an ability, it is the ability to burn food. Even when i don't burn it I somehow get the kitchen extremely smokey and set off the alarm. For me, having an alarm that i don't have to wave a broom at is a really nice feature. While I haven't looked this one in particular as it wasn't compatible with my smart home system that (smartthings) it does have some extremely nice features. Especially if you don't have a smart home system.
Pros:
-It has it's own app that is modern and has a nice layout
-It is extremely easy to setup the alarm in the app and it walks you through the entire process.
-The app has the ability to silence the alarm
-The app has the ability to test the alarms
-The alarm integrates via the traveler to set off existing alarms as well. (be aware that if a traditional alarm goes off the silence feature will only silence the smart alarm; if the smart alarm goes off it will control the others)
-It came with several wiring adapters to make installation extremely easy.
-It has alexa integration
-It is from a known manufacturer with a reputation.
-The notification is alarm then an announcement. Also the CO2 alarm part gives you ppm measured which i found cool.
Cons
- Alexa integration is a limited and doesn't have direct integration where you can just ask about a device, you must reference onelink.
-It is only compatible with Apple Home Kit.
Overall I would definitely recommend this device if you are looking for a smart smoke/CO2 detector. Especially if you have Apple Home Kit or no smart home hub. It would deserve the full five stars if it had greater integration with other systems.

Smart features are nice... if they work!

So let’s start off with the good, like all smoke alarms I’ve installed, the installation was easy and straight forward. The night light feature is very nice to have and I also like that I can adjust the brightness. The voice feature is nice as I know with kids it’s been shown the voice feature is more effective at getting them awake in an emergency. Having both smoke and carbon monoxide in one detector is nice to have. Setting it up with the app was easy and straightforward.
Now to the not so good! I took a napkin and burned it to test the app for notifications not once but three times and nothing. The smoke detector went off like a normal smoke detector, but the “smart feature” of notifying you on your phone did not. Even after an hour or so the app still shows everything is ok with the smoke detector and never showed it alarmed. The Onelink is within 10 feet of my router so a slow network shouldn’t be a problem. All my smoke detectors are wired and interconnected. One thing that concerned me more than not getting a notification was how long it took to alarm when it detected smoke. I tested another smoke detector ( First Alert BRK model) it was almost immediate, the Onelink did not go off till I actually put the napkin out in water. I tested this twice and had the same results. I plan to do more test with this as I have this on the main floor. When I tested the Onelink the other detectors in the house alarmed. When I tested the smoke detector on the second level, the Onelink did not alarm on the first floor. I would like to recommend this as I think in theory these connected devices such as this are great, but at this time I can’t. I hope First Alert pushes an update that can fix the notification issue and can make it more sensitive.

I was looking for a "smart" upgrade for my smoke/carbon monoxide detector after some friends brought up a good point about why these should be your most essential smart device. If your house is on fire while you're away, it'll alert your phone and you can contact someone immediately to check on it and call the fire department. In emergency situations like this, every second matters, especially if you have pets at home.
The First Alert Onelink has a nice clean design and feels well built with solid, durable plastic. It should blend well in any decor, and looks more like a modern wireless router than a smoke/monoxide detector. I also love that you can label what room it's in and what room it says in the voice alerts. Like "FIRE EMERGENCY DOWNSTAIRS. EVACUATE".
However, what truly amazed me about the Onelink was how easy it is to install and setup. Wiring and mounting wise, it's just like any other detector. A black, white, and optional orange wire that go to a simple harness, and it even comes with 2 other harnesses to daisy chain with other units. That was simple enough, but the amazing part came when I had to sync my phone app with the Onelink and connect it to my wireless network. On the Android market look for "Onelink Home by First Alert". Once it's installed, just make sure your phone is connected to the wifi network, open the app after you're done wiring up the Onelink, and aside from asking your wifi info, it'll detect and sync just about everything else automatically. From beginning to end, it took me maybe 20 minutes and I was taking my time.
This is a great choice for anyone looking for a simple and easy "smart" upgrade to their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. I have pets, so knowing I'll be alerted if there's a fire or carbon monoxide emergency while I'm out gives me outstanding peace of mind.

I've reviewed other Smart Home monitoring devices before, and because I had an existing First Alert alarm in the location I installed this dive, the installation was SUPER easy. Literally 3 minutes to install as it used the same wiring adapter that I already had installed. However, this product is great because it comes with multiple adapters - making it very easy to replace existing smoke detectors in your home.
Like I said, the install was easy - but the config with my WiFi and iPhone app was problematic. The Onelink Home app would hang or time out trying to find the device, or trying to connect it to the WiFi, etc. After about 4 attempts of resetting the device (Press the big button on the device 5 times), it finally took and now it is installed and running.
Did I test it with smoke or Carbon Monoxide? No. But I ran the self tests, viewed the device in the app and all check outs OK. The sound (speaking) from the device is a bit tinny sounding - but I'm not expecting much from the device.
Overall, I like the WiFi abilities, easy testing access and easy of installation. If you're looking to upgrade or replace your aging smoke or CO detectors, this is a solid choice.
Pictured is what is in the box (adapters inside the little box), and a screenshot of the Onelink Home app showing my device is OK.

Very Cool Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Set up was pretty easy. The alarm came with multiple harnesses to connect to an old hardwired smoke alarm. I decided to use the new wire harness because I just wanted to. The base plate was easy to fit into a tight spot because I have crown molding. Twisting the unit in place was a cinch. This took me me about 15 mins.
Setting up via Onelink app was easy. Follow the steps and was able to test the alarm both Smoke and CO. This took me about 5 mins.
Setting up with Alexa was not so easy. You need to obtain the Alexa skill on your phone then get Alexa to find the unit which required me to forget my wifi and resetup my wifi again for Alexa to recognize the Onelink alarm (I had to go into Alexa admin mode). It took me about 30 mins to do this part and figure out that I needed to do this reset.
After that I was able to query the Onelink via Alexa and they now work together.

Pretentious kind of alarm

This review is for the Hardwire version, based on less a week of usage on Apple Platform.
Hardware Installation: Straight forward. Replaced it with old and traditional Smoke Detector Alarm. Existing electric connection and connector worked seamless as afterward device features were running ok. One initial downside was hooking the main part to the supporting base as was dealing between small space between ceiling and the device. Second downside that might be issue for others, during installation, accidentally might touch the center main button while it is connected but not yet hooked to the supporting base. This is bit annoyance as you are during installation and suddenly hearing all the alarm.
Software Installation: Device require to download Onelink Home app. This is straight forward.
Software Setup: Through the app: 1) connect the alarm to the wifi network 2) via phone/tablet control features like monitoring of the alarm, control of light, activity, room where is installed. Also it require to use HomeKit and this part corresponds to understanding the Apple platform.
Software Setup Process Experience: 1) WiFi connection: downside is that at least took me about an hour to complete. First instance when open the app does find the alarm but did not complete setting its connectivity with the wifi network, and took me multiple trial until it was connected. But there is high chance that this problem is not unique to the alarm as I've seen similar issues with other IoT devices. But First Alarm could have done better for the experience they want to take its users.
2) Integration with Apple Homekit. Once setup is completed in OneLink, in Homekit shows as two devices, CO Detector and Smoke Detector. In the first sight this might confusion as in the mindset there is only one device but you see two.
Feature usage: 1) Monitoring Status: in OneLink app it is neat and clear view of the status. Although with traditional ones can still know the status without being dependent on Apps and Phones where you go, and probably not frequently need to be monitored, the app give its benefit while you are away. 2) use of sound system: from OneLink site it is for virtual assistance. I tried with Siri, but didn't;t work in first attempt, and this could be due to missing right setup in my guess. But the point to make here is that it is not a seamless process that once install app and hardware it works. To take advantage of this feature need to go through some of trial and error til works. Having said that, for instance, if I am playing music on my phone and try to share via Airplay, phone doesn't find the alarm to send the music. This might be bit stretching the use case, but the speaker on the alarm limit use case to virtual assistance.
Rate given base on the look and feeling and some part because of its compatibility of connector with traditional one that saved me time.

I’m super pleased with the Onelink device! The packaging was clean and separated the steps in a easy way for me to get this done fast. My wired detector took 8 minutes to install which included the application which compliments the device!
The voice guide on the device wasn’t creepy at all, I really like that the device lights up with red, green, or yellow colors to visually show an alert.
I was excited to find out as I installed the device that the company has other detectors that are speakers as well which would be amazing to have across the condo!
An extra feature I really am enjoying is the night light built in. I put this detector by the garage door and it’s always dark there so I’m happy I can adjust the brightness of the night light feature.
A great addition to my home since I was getting annoyed with how the old smoke detector looked like an eye sore next to my mid-century light fixture.
I can’t wait to try and add the other devices in the home in the future! As a side note the app is limited in functions but it’s simple and to the point which works for this kind of smoke detector!

My first impression of this alarm is how big it is. I have attached a photo for reference. It is larger than any smoke detector/fire alarm I have ever had. The good thing is that it completely covered up the mismatched paint of where my previous alarm was mounted.
Now the setup. It seems very easy via the app, but it is not. For some reason it kept timing me out and not establishing a connection. I had to retry a few times. Nothing so frustrating where I was pulling my hair out, but just enough to leave an unsavory taste in my mouth afterwards.
Once connected it runs on the app pretty well. I then integrated it to my Alexa via the skills. It is not a welcome addition to my "smart home". It lets me monitor the status of my alarm, which is nothing too exciting. You don't actually want to see this thing work (on account of you having a fire or leak). It will send me an alert (hopefully) if it goes off while I am not home.
Overall, I think this is a nice alarm, just not quite worthy of 5 stars. I wish manufacturers put forth extensive effort on install as it is the critical task of owning a product.

Pro:
-Easy installation
-Loud
Con:
-App is laggy
-Only HomeKit compatible
-Notifications may not work
This smart alarm was easy to install and setup, but is probably best for people who uses HomeKit. There’s no integration with any other smart home hub, limiting the smart features to only being able to control it with your phone. The alarm is loud, but the voice alert is not as clear.
Installation was simple and straightforward. Connect the adapter (either directly to the wires or with provided adapters), mount the base plate to the breakout box, and snap the alarm in place. The initial setup through the app, however, took me a few tries. It either didn’t connect with HomeKit or wasn’t detected at all.
The smart features are lacking if you don’t use HomeKit (I use Google Home, Alexa, and Wink). I expected a smart device to be more compatible with other home hubs. So without HomeKit, you don’t have the option to integrate it with other smart devices. In my case, the only smart feature is that I can control it with the app and it should alert me when the alarm goes off. **Many people said the notification doesn’t work, but my alarm hasn’t been triggered yet so I don’t know if that’s an issue or not. There’s also an Alexa skill, but it’s not really useful since all it can do is check the status of the alarm.
In the app, you can test, silence, and adjust the brightness of the LED light. You can also look at activities history. The app can be very laggy. Even in the initial setup, choosing the options from the drop down list wasn’t that responsive. Adjusting the LED brightness took between 5 to 30 seconds while it was connecting to the alarm. After testing the alarm, it took a bit for it to show up on the history tab.
For the price, a smart device should be more compatible with more than just HomeKit. Non Apple users may find this alarm lacking. As it stands, it’s not much better than the fire alarm that is working with my home security system except that this already cost a third of the price.

Where there's smoke, there's a smart detector

If there was one device that I wanted to be made smart, it would be a safety device, a smoke and carbon detector.
Installing the Onelink is very simple if you are comfortable with electrical work. Setting it up through the app was a different story. I had a difficult time pairing this device through wifi and had issues with Homekit. First off, this device only works with 2.4GHZ wifi so make sure your device that you are setting it up with is able to use the 2.4GHZ band. Most devices do. Also, there is a time where it will connect via Bluetooth so it will need your device to be close to the Onelink.
Night light turns on and stays on though very dim if you set it to lowest setting. If you have this installed in a bedroom this can be annoying. It’s also annoying that you have to bring your device in Bluetooth range of the Onelink to change the nightlight setting or any setting for that matter and there’s a delay when it makes the change. It can become a time consuming process if you need to keep readjusting the setting. Alternatively, you can tell Siri to adjust the nightlight brightness which I found to be more timely and you don’t have to be near the Onelink. Nest Protect only turns on when its dark and when motion is detected, always on when it’s dark or off. I guess adding motion and ambient sensors would have this more expensive.
Voice alarm can be set to English or Spanish. The Nest Protect has more languages, voice sounds better, more clear and easier to understand. Voice alerts can you tell what kind of danger and where the danger is.
10 years until “Alarm End of life” or the life of the battery backup which is not replaceable. This alarm uses Photoelectric technology which detects large particles from smoldering fires. Nest Protect says that it can detect both slow and fast burning fires by using two wavelengths of light and it also has a humidity sensor that helps it distinguish smoke from steam.
Now for what I like about this device. It’s Homekit compatible so you can create automations with this. I have the Home app set up to turn on the lights when smoke is detected and when it detects CO, I have it set up to turn on fans. You can ask Siri the status of the alarms. Nest Protect can’t do that… YET even though Nest is part of Google now.
There’s certainly room for improvement especially on the app and extra features but it works. I gave it 4 stars for the ability to add home automations but in my opinion, it would be a 3 star without it.

Tremendous Safety Features

I have just installed the Onelink Wired Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm. I really like the profile of the device. Even though its not a small device, I feel like that since it is square it does not stick out like most round smoke alarms. Another feature that I like is that you can adjust the brightness of the light to be used as a nightlight.
I downloaded the Onelink app from the app store and was connected to the device in minutes. From the app you can run a test, silence the alarm, check the battery life and make sure it is connected to your Wi-Fi. As stated above you can use the app to change the brightness of the light on the device to be able to use it as a nightlight or turn the light off if it is in an area that the light would be obtrusive.
One of the best features to me is the fact that if you have multiple Onelink alarms that they connect through your Wi-Fi. They will also announce what type of issue you are having and the location of the issue, this is a tremendous safety feature. Just think if you had a fire at your front door, most alarms would just sound, and you would probably run right into the fire trying to get out the front door. With the Onelink Alarm it would tell you where the issue was, and you could safely maneuver around it.
I haven’t seen it in action except for testing it, which is a good thing. But if it performs as good as the test it will be a life saver.

Good smoke detector, but not great

After repainting my ceiling, my old smoke detector, which was no longer white, stood out like a sore thumb, so I decided it was time for a new one. The Onelink combination smoke and CO detector from First Alert looked like a good option, so I decided to try it.
I found installation to be very easy. I’ve seen a number of other reviewers who said they had a lot of difficulty getting the unit to synch up with their wi-fi, but I did not experience that at all. Setup requires that you create an account with First Alert and do the setup using their app. Once my account was complete, the app paired with the smoke detector and then automatically connected with wi-fi. I don’t think I even had to input the wi-fi password, which I assume was handled by the app. There aren’t a lot of options you have to set, so the overall process is pretty quick and painless.
As for the physical connection, I’m one of the lucky ones who was able to use my existing connection without needing to do any rewiring. Even though my old smoke detector was almost 20 years old, the connector was still good, and allowed the new detector to be included in the existing set of linked smoke detectors. The Onelink comes with 3 different sets of wiring harnesses, which I think is excellent: 2 of them have connectors to plug into an existing modular setup, and the third has bare wires on one end in case you need to wire it in yourself. In my case, I didn’t need any of those, I just plugged in the new detector and I was good to go.
One concern I had was the sensitivity of the Onelink. I was replacing a smoke detector in the kitchen, where it’s too close to the stove, but unfortunately, moving it is not an option. So, I was hoping it wouldn’t be super sensitive to smoke from cooking. So far, that hasn’t been the case. The smoke detector part is photoelectric, which makes it a little less sensitive than the chemical type, as I understand it. In my tests with real smoke, it didn’t set off the alarm right away. I can’t tell if that’s good or bad, and I’m hoping that the whole room doesn’t have to fill with smoke before it’ll go off. I was honestly surprised at how long it took before it detected the smoke, but maybe that’s good to reduce the number of false alarms. Only time will tell on that one, but hopefully it’ll do its job when we need it most.
When the alarm did go off due to smoke, I did not receive a notification from the app. Others have had the same experience, and if that’s the case, then having a wi-fi connected smoke detector is useless. I’m not sure if there’s anything I can do to troubleshoot the notifications, but I’ll update my review if I learn more. For a smoke detector that costs more than $100, that’s not acceptable.
One small nice touch is that there is a night light built in to the unit. It’s not too bright, but you don’t want it to be too bright for helping you see in the middle of the night. The only downside is that you can’t specify to have it come on only after dark, and instead it stays on 24/7. Hopefully they’ll provide that option in a future update.
I like the Onelink, but I think it is hurt by the way the notifications fail to work properly, and I’m still deciding whether the photoelectrical sensitivity is enough. At this price point, it’s good, but I would suggest comparing to other options on the market before you decide.

This is not my first wifi smoke alarm, but is my first from Onelink.
The physical installation was easy with multiple wire harness options and plenty of channels in the plate to line up to your needs when mounting it to the wall. The setup connecting to the app was a little clunky and a slow process as there was a long wait for it to configure and connect to my home network.
Once set up, the app features are pretty good. It gives the status of the network connection and backup battery and then has buttons to Test, Silence, and set the brightness of the night light (which is plenty bright). When you do give it a command from the app, to test, this is where there is some more slowness/delay before the alarm gets the signal to start the test.
The voice on the test is a little muffled, but the alarm itself is nice and loud which is probably the most important part and why I still give the smoke alarm 4 stars. The software setup (which in theory you only do once) can always be improved down the road to make the alarm the complete 5 star package, but the hardware is already good.

Flakey and not reliable - DO NOT BUY

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I installed three of these in my house, on hard wiring. One of them locked up / flaked out in an alarm mode in the middle of the night. Because these are communicating detectors it set off ALL of the other detectors. I could not get the bad one to turn off using the button. It kept triggering all of the others in the house OVER AND OVER going back and forth between a fire alarm and a CO2 alarm. AT 3:00 AM. The stop button would not work. I had to pull the one out of the ceiling, take it outside and BEAT IT WITH A HAMMER to get it to stop. AVOID.

Added safety for home

The Onelink smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is added safety to your home. Having a connected home allows me to monitor, and verify, that my home is safe and that everything is working as it should.
As for the installation process, if you can wire a light fixture, you shouldn’t have any problems getting the Onelink alarm setup. You have to run new power wires (hardwired alarm) to the alarm, but it’s not a difficult task. If there is ever a power outage, there’s a backup battery to keep your family safe.
As for getting the alarm connected to your WiFi via the app, it was somewhat of a hassle, as it took multiple attempts to get it to connect. I’m not new to installing these sorts of things, but there was some type of connectivity issue the first couple of tries. I’m not sure if it was their app, but my WiFi signal was strong, and everything checked out fine on my end. Once up and running, it’s smooth sailing from there.
I would highly recommend the Onelink smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm to anyone. Do yourself a favor and add this alarm to your home.

Easy To Install - Great Peace of Mind

The Onelink Smart Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm is a winner.
The packaging is nicely done, and it includes instructions that are fairly clear. Note, to install, you will need to download the Onelink App on iOS or Android.
Installation is simple and quick, particularly if you have modern smoke detectors already. The box includes multiple wiring harness adapters, which made it super easy. I removed the old smoke detector, took the old base plate off the ceiling (all you have to do is loosen two screws and then twist it off), installed the new base plate, chose the corrected wiring harness adapter, connected the Oneline, attached it to the base plate, and twisted it into place.
Twisting it into place activates a voice guide. You then pair it with the app and choose your settings for alarms, sounds, and light.
I appreciate the fact it has a light ring (really, a light square) on it that you can control. You can turn the light off or turn it up fairly bright. I installed this particular unit at the top of our stairs in the loft, so it's a nice added source of light there, when desired.
As far as function, the unit appears to work perfectly well. I'm very pleased and highly recommend it.

A smart, wired detector

I got the wired version of the Onelink to try it out with my existing wired system of Kidde smoke detectors. I have 5 of those in my house, so I picked one in a hallway and replaced it with the Onelink. I like that they're still all tied together, but now I have a network connected one to get alerts if I'm not at home. Because of the wired link, I know if one goes off they all alarm. I've not tested for sure, but I assume if one of the Kidde alarms goes off that I'd also get an alert from the Onelink app.
The included wired adapters were very handy for installation. I was able to just replace the plastic mounting plate (two screws) then use the adapter to connect the existing Kidde plug into the Onelink and lock it into the bracket. After a few seconds the blue ring started flashing so I went through the setup in the app. It took quite a while, and after reading some other reviews I was afraid it wouldn't work, but it did eventually link up just fine on the first attempt.
In the app you can see the status and history, test and silence the alarm, and also adjust the brightness of the night light. The night light is a great feature, but I wish it had a light sensor so it'd only come on when it's dark.
Time will tell how well this works and if the built-in battery will last the full ten years, but so far it seems like it'll be a great, though comparatively expensive, alternative to the Kidde detectors.
