Everything works great and it's appearance is nice. My only glitch is that it's quite noisy when discs are changing.

This is the second time we have purchased this model. The prior one lasted years and was a workhorse. And when this one gives up the ghost I will buy it a third time.I gladly recommend this CD player.

Will Not Recognize or Read Discs

This is a nice looking (if large) CD player, but the one I received would not read or recognize any CD's I inserted. I tried several CD's - some new - and it was always the same result: "No Disc" message on front panel. You will find many reviews noting this problem, which is disappointing because I always considered Onkyo a premium brand. This was purchased as an "Open Box - Excellent Condition" item from BestBuy.com, meaning they promise to have tested it for proper operation before reselling, but I guess they skipped that check this time.

This device was a lot easier to set up than what I was expecting, very easy to replace the old unit. Many more features then my old Sony unit.

Purchased this changer to replace my 28 y/o Sony, It is outstanding and I would highly recommend this product. The price is excellent and it was in stock at my local Best Buy, The sound quality of a CD played through the Optical Digital output is so superior to MP3 files off your telephone or streaming off internet on Sirius it's stupid. Listening through ear buds is all good for kids. Once you hear CD's though this Onkyo Changer playing through a high quality audio system including an amplifier and speakers from Best Buy Magnolia, you will relegate your over priced iPhone to reading text messages and drop your earbuds in the trash. Kids don't know any better. It's unfortunate that the convenience and compression of steaming music off a iPhone has replaced the outstanding quality of CD and a total audio system. For the price of an iPhone you can get a total audio system including this changer that will blow your socks off that will last years instead of months. Having experienced the demise of the LP then the cassette tape and now the loss of CD selection, It's by far superior in its simplicity and best sound quality that at this point there is no substitute. This Onkyo CD changer is the one to connect to your home theater. My last CD changer cost $299 out lasted 20 cell phones that now cost $1,000, that should be enough to convince anyone of the stability and quality of CD plus the sound is so much better.

    Great Old-School CD Changer

We still have piles of CDs around the house and we love to listen to them beginning to end. When our SONY combo DVD/CD changer finally died after a decade, I went looking for a new one. I was surprised to discover there really aren’t DVD/CD multi-disc players available anymore, and surprisingly few CD changers. I did my research and looked at the ones still available. The Onkyo unit seems to be unique in that it is the only 6 CD player around. The others I found were 5 CD players, so if you can have 5, why not go for 6? The other difference is that this player has both coax and optical digital connectors, as well as really old school RCA plugs, so it offers maximum flexibility connecting to your receiver. The only thing it didn’t have was a USB or iPhone connector, but to get that I would have had to pay almost three times the price and settle for 5 CDs, so this seemed like a bargain for such a great brand. I’ll probably upgrade my receievr to Bluetooth soon and that will solve the USB or remote streaming access issue. This is just a CD changer, and it is a good one. Set-up was as easy as could be, and the sound is surely an upgrade from my 10 year old unit. This one was also top-rated almost everywhere I found consumer reviews, and so far it has lived up to the billing. Nothing fancy, but if you need a multi-disc CD changer, want 6 slots and a great price, this is the one.

Great replacement for my old Pioneer

After 25 years my old Pioneer 6 disc cartridge player finally gave up. I checked Pioneer's website but they no longer made a CD changer like my old one. I then searched the internet for CD player changers and started reading reviews. The one feature I loved about my old Pioneer was the ability to play random tracks from random CD's. The Onkyo DX-C390 fit the bill and the reviews were positive by in large. We play CD's every evening when we can sit on the patio, sip a glass of wine and listen to our music. The random play works wonderfully and the sound is crisp and clear. I didn't realize how tired my old Pioneer had gotten but this Onkyo unit is a wonderful replacement.

Back in the day, we studied all the aspects of every CD player out there. Now, there are very few dedicated CD players. I guess people use DVD players, play on their computers, or just stream. Or something. So finding a CD changer for a good price was what I was looking for. It works well, the remote is easy to use, no real complaints. The only "minor" points: 1) It's huge. But then of course if it holds 6 CD's it can't be too small. and 2) The functions on the remote are not quite as obvious as they should be. But all in all, no real complaints.

I've only had it for a week, but seems fine so far. It's hard to find a multiple disk CD player. The technology is old I guess. But I have a lot of CDs my boyfriend makes for me and I don't want to loose the ability to play them. The only problem is the height and depth of the player is so much larger than my old 5-disc player that it is really too big for my media stand. I can make it work but I would prefer something slightly small as it looks weird because it sticks out far beyond the shelf it is on. For now it fits OK, but I would prefer a better fit. So check the dimensions before you order if your space is limited.

First one did not work. May have been due to careless shipping (Fed Ex). Had to return and order another at Best Buy and have it shipped to the store, instead of my home. Second Onkyo CD player has worked fine so far (about one month). Sound is good and ease of use is also quite good. Bought this on sale for $250.00. No other 6-disc player available at Best Buy.

I am an audiophile, so I have more demands on sound quality than most. I just wanted a basic CD changer to quickly replace my defunct player while I find a suitable replacement during an anticipated long search. I got this open box unit, and it had a surprise audiophile CD in the tray. Apparently an audiophile bought it first, did not like it and returned it. He was the hasty kind, and his lack of patience served him badly (thanks for the bonus CD buddy!), as indeed, while it was quite disappointingly flat out of the box: zero high frequency extension and absolutley no imaging. After a few hours of break-in it really started to open up, the high frequencies coming out. After a week of burn-in it is good enough that its sound straight out of the analog out compares head to head to the output from my highly modified PSAudio DAC! I am shocked, to say the least. PS: you can change the discs while a disc is playing...

Usual for Onkyo—excellent! Didn’t have any problems with setup, just be sure to place on a lower shelf, peering down at the six position slot is not easy if too high. Sound replication is very good, very nice to have multidisk capability. Remote simple, no problem.

This 6 disk player replaces a old 40 disk model that died. While CDs are going out of style, many of us have hundreds of them and do not want to waste our time moving the music to another format. This player permits random playing of up to 6 CDs at a time. Picking a particular song can require some effort though. The CD remote does not sync well with a surround sound universal remote. I would buy this model again and I can recommend it as a good value unit that plays acceptable music.
