The sound from the changer is good. The display is large enough to read from at least 8 feet. ; but, the print on the face is small. The length of time between changing discs is longer than all other changers I have owned to the point one can wonder if the changer stopped; but, that is acceptable after adapting to the extra time. It is the heaviest changer I can recall, perhaps because it a 6-disc instead of the more common 5-disc. Although the remote is small as well as the print, I appreciate that one can directly select any of the 6 discs with a single key as well as the cut of a disc. The best reason is the value. It is less than half the price of some 5-disc changers. I purchased a second as a backup.

Easy to install with my 30 year old stereo system. Plays up to six cds and starts the next one when one is finished. It is getting harder to find stand alone CD players so if you want one, I’d get it now. It is large but fit into my entertainment unit.

I had the task of trying to find a multi-disk CD changer for my grandmother without the luxury of being able to order it since I would be leaving the state the next day.
I was convinced I'd find nothing, but sure enough a two mile drive to the local Best Buy and I found one of these units brand new.
Works flawlessly, you simply load the CD's in and can easily transition between them with a remote control.
I'm very happy they still make these types of devices and I'm very impressed with the quality and price of this unit. And I'm also impressed Best Buy stocks them!
Made for a very happy grandmother and a relieved grandson.

I have a number of older CDs and when my old CD player died I chose this unit after discussing it with my Magnolia rep. I've been really impressed with the simple operation and it is really nice to have 6 discs inserted at the same time. Plus, there seems to be some memory in the system so you can actually change out a disc while another selection is playing. This is a really nice feature. The unit also features a green light on the front panel when power is on. Sound quality is solid and really sounds nice on my Definitive Technology tower speakers. I would highly recommend this unit for the price point. I think you could spend a lot more with no noticeable increase in quality of output.

My JVC changer bit the dust and I selected this Onkyo to replace it. I am very satisfied with the unit. It has easy controls, nice remote and sounds great. I do have to say it is large! It does not fit inside my stereo cabinet. It looks and performs nicely from on top of the cabinet. The price and performance made this an easy choice.

This 6 disk player replaces a old 40 disk model that died. While CDs are going out of style, many of us have hundreds of them and do not want to waste our time moving the music to another format. This player permits random playing of up to 6 CDs at a time. Picking a particular song can require some effort though. The CD remote does not sync well with a surround sound universal remote.
I would buy this model again and I can recommend it as a good value unit that plays acceptable music.

I purchased this to replace Sony's similar five-disc player, which had failed after about five years of light use. I've had favorable impressions of previous Onkyo sound systems, including the 1,100 Watt 7.1 theatre system and a desktop audio set.
The device is physically deep to accommodate the rotary table that holds the discs, and this could be an issue if space were limited - I'm fine with that, and it fits and looks good with my Onkyo theatre system.
The only negative, for me, is the remote has very small buttons which are hard to see in dim light (though this complaint is common to all remotes anymore.) I'd like to see a better, more robust remote with a device in this price class (which is why I removed one star.) It does have a full button arrangement on the device (I try to avoid buying devices that are dependent on the remote for anything, as this renders the device inoperative if [when] the remote fails.)
These type of changers are probably old-school technology at this point, but for me it's a good solution for achieving several uninterrupted hours of music, and I'm happy with the sound quality.

This CD changer seems to be a high-quality item in the Onkyo tradition. It is more sensitive to CD damage than previous Onkyo CD changers, but the sound quality has improved. The good news is that if it hits a damaged spot, it will stop after a few seconds instead of going into a loop. It seems to have a much quieter and gentler changing mechanism than the earlier Onkyo CD changers. This CD changer has a remote-controlled on/standby switch, which the earlier Onkyo CD changers did not have. This CD changer comes with a basic remote, but Onkyo receiver remotes can be used if the CD changer is connected to an Onkyo receiver equipped with RI (cable included). This CD changer has a bright green light over the CD tray. This light can be programmed to stay on all of the time when the power is on, or to come on only when the tray is opened. All things considered, this is an excellent product, and worth the price.

This CD Changer holds six discs, is easy to operate, and looks good with the other components. There is a light that illuminates the discs when the draw is open. The Sound Quality is very good.
There could be more info on the display screen (total tracks) but it is sufficient for everyday use

I was needing a new player when I found this CD changer (Onkyo DX-C390). However, I read with trepidation reviews saying it displayed a high frequency prominence. Taking the previous information into consideration my decision to purchase was greatly influenced by its sale price which was a very nice reduction below regular pricing. Also in its favor, other reviews mentioned the player operated with a finesse that was matched by few other players. When I first listened I had to agree the sound was somewhat out of kilter, tilted appreciably toward the top end. However, after some break-in time, the playback became noticeably smoother and better balanced. The sound has improved through out my ownership (several months). It no longer produces the strident upper octaves as it did when it was new. I haven't just become used to its sound because I have other players to compare. Its handling of the six discs is impecable. It performs with a surety that inspires confidence in the handling of my discs. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

In 2023 there's not much choice among CD players. This Onkyo is the only remaining disc changer on the market. And there are only a few single disc players competing with it. Fortunately this is a very nice unit for someone who wants a 6 disc changer.
Sound quality is a given with the modern, noise shaping DAC. It also offers optical and coaxial digital out to connect to any external DAC or receiver with a built-in DAC. It changes discs quickly, and it lets you change 5 while 1 is playing. Disc changes are a bit noisy...not too bad...but it's very quiet while playing. The brushed aluminum front looks very nice. Some people don't like the green light on the front, but that's easy to turn off via the dimmer button. It retains the dimmer setting when you turn it off. Naturally it comes with a remote. And it works with Onkyo receiver remotes. So if you have an Onkyo receiver you only need one remote to control it.
If I had one complaint it would be that there's no keypad on the front. The remote control has one. But with my previous CD changer you could load a disc and hit the track number you wanted without grabbing the remote, and without pressing skip multiple times. It's a minor complaint, and I suppose the front actually looks more streamlined without it.
I'm not sure what else to say. Everything works well. And if you want the security of buying new with warranty, it's your only choice in 2023.

Even in this day of downloads, streaming audio, and "vinyl revival," music on CD is still the leading selling format. But just try to find a CD player, yet alone a multi-disc CD player. This Onkyo, and a much pricier Yamaha player, are all that is left as multi0disc players here in early 2017. Yes, you can play CDs on your DVD player or computer CD drive, but, those chintzy units are so slow to respond, have virtually no front panel displays, and none are multi-disc. This Onkyo model has been around for years, and I hope they just keep making them forever. For less than $150, you can't beat both the sound quality and quick/smooth operation of this machine. It has yet to skip or reject and CD I have put in it. The remote is tiny but full-featured and you get quickly accustomed to the small size. Front panel controls are logical and user-friendly, which can't be said of the last of the Sony multi-disc players that were absolutely maddening. Get one before some dumb bean-counter in Japan decides to discontinue this gem.

Bought a JVC disc changer 25 years ago which finally broke. Replaced it with this--it sounds better than my last one and the CD changer works well--no undue length of time between songs when playing songs at random. True randomness with any song from any of the 6 CDs subject to the next play. Easy to understand remote--very intelligently designed. I did buy the extended guarantee--it was cheap. I've had this for a month and it has exceeded my expectations.

Love this 6-disc CD player. Easy to install. Has some great features. Easy to operate. Love having the remote. Hooked up to some inexpensive speakers I had. Great sound. Larger than I expected but also plays one more CD than I expected.

Great sound, easy to set up and use. Note: this is a six CD changer and requires greater depth than most stereo components. This may not fit in many audio component racks due to overall depth without modification to the rack.

CD players are hard to come by these days, and those that accommodate multiple discs even harder. After all, what's the point of having a player that only allows one disc at a time? This Onkyo product is the third I've bought and I have yet to be disappointed. Sound is great, easy to install, not overly heavy, and has a fairly decent price. My only issue is that the Memory function is only on the remote.

I recently purchased the Onkyo 6disc changer at a very reasonable price and I am totally happy with its performance and quality. If your looking for an affordable cd changer and one that is easy to use, look no further than the Onkyo DX-C390. CD Changers are disappearing fast get yours now, you won't regret it. Best buy handled everything and I received my order before the expected delivery date. You can't get much better than that.

Purchased this changer to replace my 28 y/o Sony, It is outstanding and I would highly recommend this product. The price is excellent and it was in stock at my local Best Buy, The sound quality of a CD played through the Optical Digital output is so superior to MP3 files off your telephone or streaming off internet on Sirius it's stupid. Listening through ear buds is all good for kids. Once you hear CD's though this Onkyo Changer playing through a high quality audio system including an amplifier and speakers from Best Buy Magnolia, you will relegate your over priced iPhone to reading text messages and drop your earbuds in the trash. Kids don't know any better. It's unfortunate that the convenience and compression of steaming music off a iPhone has replaced the outstanding quality of CD and a total audio system. For the price of an iPhone you can get a total audio system including this changer that will blow your socks off that will last years instead of months. Having experienced the demise of the LP then the cassette tape and now the loss of CD selection, It's by far superior in its simplicity and best sound quality that at this point there is no substitute. This Onkyo CD changer is the one to connect to your home theater. My last CD changer cost $299 out lasted 20 cell phones that now cost $1,000, that should be enough to convince anyone of the stability and quality of CD plus the sound is so much better.
