It takes a little while to customize the audio settings to fit your style. The process is well worth it. I started out with letting the stereo calibrate itself to the room. Then I went in and fine tuned the settings. Surround sound is rich, distinctive sounds are now clear. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I purchased this Onkyo receiver to use as a stereo receiver in my garage so I can’t rate this unit for it’s surround quality’s,however I paired this with klipsch R15-M bookshelf speakers and a 10 inch powered sub woofer and the system sounds awesome. The only thing that disappointed me about this unit was the usb input is not compatible for use with an iPhone or iPad so I am stuck Bluetoothing Pandora.

I am a complete home theater set newbie. So my review will not cover the entire function. Go through the set carefully and thoroughly mine came setup with auto shutoff that I missed and after 2.5 hrs or something it would go to sleep. Got that figured out. Then If the onkyo was not first no sound found some other settings I figured out by elimination. Instructions are in the receiver itself .

I got this receiver for my small movie room. I have the big brother TX-NR757 model for my whole home speak set up. This smaller version offers many of the same features at a lower price point. Simple setup for a sound bar, and typical components. Out of the box setup took me 10 minutes. Good value for what it offers.

    Inexpensive HDR Pass-Thru 4K Receiver

Overall, this is one of the least expensive 4K receivers that enables HDR pass-through. With that being said, it's a bit underpowered, but should suffice for most rooms. The on-screen interface is old and not very intuitive, and there aren't many tweaks or adjustment settings. I'd have preferred to get something from Yamaha but the cost would've been 2-3x as much if I wanted HDR support.

Did what I wanted it to do and more

This receiver did exactly what I wanted it to do and more. My 30 yr old CD changer attached to my 40 yr old speakers make beautiful music throughout. I didn't expect my wireless subwoofer attached to a Vizio soundbar to start playing my music too as the receiver is not attached to the tv! When that bass rolled across my floor both my dogs and I spun around in surprise. I actually grinned.

I am not sure that reviewing a piece of electronics after only a few weeks makes sense. This would not be the first piece of equipment that I have had fail during a warranty period, That aside, the Yamaha receiver appears to be high quality and the video and audio outputs are great. Source switching is a little awkward compared with similar units but that is the only complaint that I have.

Has all the good stuff for less money. 4K HDR, several HDMI inputs, bluetooth, calibration and easy setup. Perfect for me since I only need a 5.1 setup. Retired my 10 year old Onkyo receiver that still works fine, just had no HDMI inputs. Onkyo simply makes great receivers.

This is a Replacement for my older Pioneer AV Surround sound unit that developed a problem. Install was straight forward and went well sound is good and worked well with my present speakers. This unit received good reviews during my research. I have had no problems with it other than learning the differences between it and my prior unit.

I rated this receiver 5 stars based on the purpose for which I bought it. It is serving as a 5.1 system for a computer I use for editing videos and for doing music composition. So far, I am very pleased with the performance; setup was very easy; it seems to be the same good quality I have come to expect after purchasing an Onkyo 7.1 receiver for my home theater. I'm pleased.

I had never purchased an Onkyo receiver but I had always heard great things. I went to Best Buy to purchase a denon receiver that was on sale but when I got there it wasn't on sale anymore so I decided to save $80 and go with this one. Boy am I glad I did! This receiver sounds amazing and was well worth the $199 I spent on it. Definitely going to buy Onkyo again in the future!

Have not used yet as the older dvr cannot be hooked up. Have emailed Onkyo for instructions, but never heard back. Only acknowledgement was that they would respond in two days. Still waiting. I haven’t used it, so cannot recommend it. Their customer service is very poor to nonexistent in my experience.

The amp is very much a modern hookup kind of unit and such things as VCR's and especially phonographs become problematic. I was ultimately able to get everything to connect and be useable but the phono will require some kind of pre-amp. Not a flexible, full-range hook-up unit but then, I see very few such amp/tuners unless you've got big bucks. As I said, it's adequate.

Due to an unfortunate lightning strike I had to replace my 6 year old Onkyo receiver. The newer model has more hdmi inputs, 4k pass thru and an easy to use setup manual and interface. This is my third Onkyo in the past 15 years, they all have performed well and never needed repair. I only change receivers every 7-8 years to try to keep up with changing standards and features

it works well with my new ROKU, DVD, Turntable. But it doesn't have enough outlets for all my equipment. And so many buttons one the front make it not that easy to use. I got it as a gift. The sound is great, there are a lot of choices, but who needs that many sound choices??? Drop the price, make it simpler.

Was $299.99 Got eventually for $199.99 I'm a Sony loyalist, but had issues with the reciever playing all of my speakers, so after reading the reviews on Onkyo, I decided to go with them instead of Sony. So far so good!!! My only disappointment is it doesn't play my outdated Sony 300 CD player... Thank goodness for the Bluetooth feature it has

Easy to setUp and Use. Sounds Great. I've owned a few Onkyo Receivers before and always enjoy them and their quality. The only con that I have is the remote. Because there are so many Functions there are so many buttons on the remote, but that's always been their design philosophy on remotes. But the buttons are in a simple layout instead of try to get all fancy.
