Made sense to buy another Onkyo HT receiver to replace an older one that worked so well for almost 20 years. This new one sounds great and processes 4K HDR video perfectly to my new large screen TCL TV.

This sound of this receiver is amazing. It's not so much the high power but the soundstage of the movie or music. It is a full sound. I located an "excellent open box" at one of the stores and I love it! I compared this one to the Sony 790, however the Onkyo features won me over.

I upgraded from an all in one with blue ray player because I wasn’t happy with the bass. I switched this on with some Klipsch speakers and it filled the room even at low volume. Very high quality set. Just a piece of advice unless you know what you are doing don’t play with the settings too much. I did a couple of times then just decided to reset it to factory specs where it sounded better than anything I changed. It has so much flexibility so I’m looking forward to studying it a little more to better understand the settings.

If you talk to an informed polite representative to help set everything up ,, then it’s a VERY nice receiver , quality sound , quality options ,, Note: this unit is not able to play ZONE2 pandora off from my TV,, must use pandora from the receiver to play zone 2 and main the same songs ,, otherwise TV or music inside and music from the receiver outside ..
compromises , no biggie once I had it explained to me from a polite educated representative

Onkyo's TX 7.2 comes with the latest Doly Options plus High Def TV. I previously owned the equivalent model and when it's video board went out, I decided to purchase the new one. It has met my expectations and should provide an economical addition to anyone's home theater setup. I think for this is a feature packed home theater receiver for a very reasonable price.

I debated between this unit and DENON and chose ONKYO and so far this unit has met all my expectations. All the reviews from sellers have been on point. I upgraded from a 5.1 surround to 7.2 and this unit delivers the sound, power and surround sound I was looking for.

This is my third Onkyo home theater receiver. It replaces a four-year-old model (747) that I felt was a superior unit. I'm using it to drive a 7.1 system with Focal towers and center full range speaker plus four Revel M8 surround sound wall mount speakers. Since this is the only home receiver brand I've had, I can't compare it to Yamaha or Denon of similar capabilities and price. But I've always felt that my Onkyo's have left me somewhat underwhelmed in regards to performance. Maybe it's the "grass is greener" adage. But they all seem to require a lot of tweaking to get the sound you want. Some of the sound modes are not listenable and I've always found a few quirks with all Onkyo's owned. This model does get great reviews. Perhaps once I get it tweaked, i'll get the sound I want and feel it compares to the retired predecessor model TX747. I've also read reviews where Onkyo owners say they've owned Yamaha and Denon and prefer the Onkyo...so it's very much a personal experience. You won't go likely wrong with any of the three in the $600 range.

I wanted to buy this product almost 6 months back but it was back-ordered. I tried on other stores including online stores but finally, I got it on sale during the Thanksgiving sale. I tried Denon, Yamaha receiver before this product but Onkyo is the best. I love the sound, clarity, video quality, and easy setup. Overall I am impressed with this receiver.

This is one of the best receivers for the money ive ever owned. Set up guides you through the whole setup process easily. Great review from cnet. I was so impressed i purchased 2 of them. Just enough power for most speakers. This unit has restored my faith in onkyo products.

I love the features that come with this unit. However, it took some time and internet searches/videos to figure out how to initially set up the stereo.
The unit must be directly connected to a TV via HDMI (in addition to any connection you might have with satellite, cable, or streaming device.)
Once connected, the TV and stereo need to be turned on and the TV becomes a "monitor" and is used to walk through all the set up steps.
The sound output for movies, sports, and music is great.

Pretty good video receiver especially for the money! I even bought open box couldn't be happier I think I got it for like less than half price it normally is!

first, the sound quality is exceptional
user friendly set up and operation
was my main choice because it has room to grow as i can afford more/better speakers, as well as, offering dual zone capabilities.
very happy with this product

Bought this to replace a broken low end Yamaha. I've only had it a couple days so far. The Yamaha HDMI ports were pre 4k, as well as not functional. I recently upgraded the TV from a 10 year old Panasonic Plasma to the TCL 6 series. (another awesome product)
In my application - it's just running a simple 5.1 system with Polk speakers. No 2nd zone.
Pros:
ARC function works great
Sound quality is great (to be expected)
Setup menu on screen is easy to use and beautifully presented in plain English.
Streaming capability and AirPlay support works seamlessly.
Remote is not overly complicated.
Cons:
Won't bluetooth out audio to wireless headphones.
It's moderately expensive.
The included mic for balancing and crossover settings isn't really all that valuable.

This thing sounds great. The Dolby Atmos sounds great. I like to listen to vinyl. It sounds great as well. Just know you need to movies that have atmos. You also need the right kind of speakers as well.
