Nice transition fr. Straight Talk Wireless Home Ph

It has only been about a month since I have used this, but I really like it. I transitioned off of Straight Talk Wireless's similar home phone version. That had some annoying beeping sounds when you answered the phone. That cost was bout $18/mo. This is down to about $6 (paying for taxes only) It is wireless, but I hooked it up to ethernet to cut down on having a lot of wireless devices on my network. I have it hooked up to a Panasonic home phone system/answering machine (with five handset). I have the other two handsets and they work well, but I didnit need seven handsets in my house. I bought this because it was on sale and had the wifi options (just in case). I probably could have gotten by with just buying the base only. However the extra handsets were a nice option while transitioning my phone number. It says expect 30 days for porting the number, but they did it in about 5 days. I am putting it on a UPS since it takes abut 10 minutes to reboot if the power goes out.

I bought this unit when I switched from a major ISP to a home internet system. Quality is excellent and a great price. Setup was easy and porting my existing home # was seamless.

So far, better than our old landline.

So far, so good. We ditched our landline, but didn't want to give up our long-time phone number, and this seemed like a good compromise. Easy to set up, easy to port our phone number, able to connect all of our existing phones, and the sound quality is better than our old landline. Glad to be done with outrageous phone company bills just so that we could receive unwanted solicitation for car warranties and fake charities.

The solution for cutting the landline cord

I needed a landline for my fax machine so when I cut the cord with AT&T I sought advice on Nextdoor about alternatives. Several people recommended Ooma. I ordered the Teleo Air with 2 cordless phones. There was a delivery problem that was not Best Buy's fault but eventually I got it. Installation was a snap and Ooma handled the transferring of my phone number over and kept me informed of the progress on the transfer, which took about a week. The voice quality is excellent according to my callers. I highly recommend it.

I bought it for a non-technical friend. I installed it. He has no trouble using it or the Ooma app. Unfortunely the telo hangs up occasionally and has to be power cycled. Awkward.
The "free" option is $7.08 a month in Pennsylvania. The Premier option gets you a second time for 911 service on top of the $10/month. There is nothing government won't do to get our money.
Ooma conversations have excellent clarity.

Refused to give up the landline! Now I'm saving money. Easily connects to phone line in the house so all the extensions work. Lots of bells and whistles. Excellent at filtering spam calls.

I've used ooma before and for me it seems to be the most reliable and least flaky IP phone solution out there, now offering all kinds of new features that I'm not using.

After switching to starlink we decided to upgrade our nana to these phones in order to break away from a crazy landline phone bill. These phones have an option to place a picture of the person calling. Nana loves this! We found a way to save her money and upgrade her to a better sounding phone! Also the provider previously always had issues and she would lose service!

So far so good, sound quality is good. The only issue was one of the handsets the 0 was not working properly but after calling the company they are going to send out another unit to me. Was a little hard to setup, my phone was telling me it wasn't connecting to the base, but the unit did get updated and service was activated, a little confusing the way it happened.

We needed to add a home phone for when our nephew is babysitting. He doesn't have a smartphone yet and we needed him to have the ability to call 911 if something bad happened while we were out.
The Ooma handsets are straightforward and easy to use. They are a throwback to another time. The base station is the "answering machine" of sorts. No problems so far with the phone service either. The only annoying thing is the robo calls and spam calls. We just turned the ringer off both handsets. The cost of the service is only the cost of taxes and fees from the local governments. For us, it was about $60 for the entire year. Fair cost.

Needed to replace my old landline that was used only for alarm monitoring and find a less expensive solution. The Ooma Telo Air was the perfect choice for me. Setup was very easy and straight forward and it works fine with my old ADT alarm system plus I'm saving about $35 per month.

The phone calls sound as good as a landline. Lots of features with the free service. More features and a second line can be added for a monthly fee. Porting your old number is supported as is 911 service. Being that this is phone is IP based and IP's change, you need to keep your address in your Ooma account current for them to find your current location.
Free unlimited calling in the US. There is a per minute fee to call other countries. Some are just a few cents a minute, some more. Check the Ooma website for the current rates if that's important to you.
You are charged federal and state communication taxes and 911 Fees if you have them in your area. For eastern PA this works out to $6/month. Started out at $2/month 8 or 9 years ago.
The range on the handsets is excellent. Took one out in the yard 120' from the base and it worked perfectly.
Very reliable. I've never had any issue connecting or with voice quality. I started with a 35Mbps Internet service 8 years ago and am now up to 1Gig Internet. I've recommended this to a friend with a 20Mbps and it worked fine for him as well.
My first ooma box lasted 8 years till it got flaky and then died. Not a bad run, was ready for new handsets anyway.
You are limited to 4 Ooma handsets on this Ooma base. If you need more than that, you can use the standard RJ11 phone jack to add more. You can plug in any phone, a multi-phone wireless phone system, a fax, etc. and use them instead or in addition to the ooma handsets.
Maybe you can find cheaper or free, but with Ooma you get a reserved phone number that never changes in most any area code you choose on a reliable service that sounds and works as expected. For me it's worth a few bucks a month to know that anyone in my house has ready access to reliable phones that can contact 911 sending my address automatically if it's ever needed.

It’s great considering for what you pay for the service. Didn’t realize it will increase your service to the more expensive option without telling you after three months, but it’s easy to change. Call quality is fair, not as clear as a landline or cell phone, but is good for the $8/month service plan. Highly recommended if you need to have a house phone for emergency use or for kids that don’t have cell phones. Very affordable option after initial purchase of equipment.

I got this OOMA less than 2 weeks ago, set it up on my wireless internet pretty easily, I had to download the OOMA setup app on my cell in order to connect it wirelessly. Ethernet is also an option with no app needed. I ported my number from comcast voice. OOMA said it could take 30 days, but it only took a few days to port the number and they give you a temporary number to use until then. My bill will be only 5.95 per month with OOMA.
If you want to have enhanced caller ID, you have to get the Premier service for 9.95 a month, otherwise you just see the number of the caller unless you have them in your contacts.
You can use the handsets provided, they have picture ID, or you can use any cordless phone you already have, and you can use OOMA voicemail, or your own answering machine. As with any digital phone service, if you have no power or no internet, you wont have phone service. OOMA offers a 4 G backup, but its not compatible with Telo Air. The only downside is a slight delay when you answer the phone or when you are dialing out and waiting for it to ring on the other end. In the few days I have been using it, the calls are clear and the service has been great!

Ooma is a wonderful alternative to a landline phone at about 1/10 the price! Easy installation. With Ooma, you can have your phone calls automatically routed to your cell phone, which is a nice feature that helps you avoid missing calls.
