Easy way to save money on phone service

So far so good. Easy to set up and port our old phone number. Saving $40+ or more over AT&T. It was tough because 99% of the calls to our home phone were telemarketing but now and again a real one comes through, so this was a good alternative.

I'm very impressed with the voice quality and features on this little VoIP device. Easy to connect and turn up with new phone number or (for a charge) a port of your current number. I almost never use the home phone but my wife does, so it's a desirable item to have.
BTW, Verizon was more than happy to drop support for their FIOS phone service and gave me an upgraded ONT, 1Gb internet and a bunch of other stuff for no cost. Even the phone company no longer wants to support POTS (plain old telephone service.)

Best replacement for landline service

We have had our landline phone for 60 years, and when the telephone company stopped service we transferred the number to a cellphone line, but it was not the same. With Ooma, all telephone calls come in and ring all the telephones in the house. It is like the telephone company service, but better because calls are also forwarded to a cellphone and there are many other free or low-cost services available. Ooma was so easy to set up, If you have Internet service in your home, I would highly recommend it as a replacement for landline service.

I have been wanting to make the switch from traditional phone line and was hesitant at first. Simple set up and low monthly costs along with crystal clear calls made this worth it. Highly recommend to all

Totally Elimnated My Landline

I purchased this to eliminate our Frontier landline costing >$100 a month. The installation was quick and easy. Our original phone number was ported over and I was able to go onto the website and designate our original number as our dial out number. People outside my household can't tell there was even a change. I also attached our Panasonic phone base and extension phones with an answering machine and they work well. I also put an HP Printer with Fax capabilities in line. Very satisfied with my purchase and the product.

Spectrum voice (home phone service) is a thing of the past with this great little gem. Easy to install, configure and operate! Great plus is the LOW cost of ownership. I am paying 1/4-1/3 of the monthly cost it was with you know who, with additional features.

Great way to add a home "land-line" phone & number

If you already have broadband internet you simple plug the Ooma device into your router and follow their setup process and that's it. You now have a "land-line" phone at your house that allows you to plug in normal phones. I plugged in my Panasonic base unit that has a wireless handset and 3 additional wireless handsets extensions placed throughout my home.
This unit requires a WIRED connection to your router. Ooma sells a wireless and BT adapter you can plug into base unit if you can't wire it in directly or want base unit in different room.
Things to take into account.
ITS NOT A COMPLETELY FREE PHONE. You will have to setup an account with Ooma and pay a monthly base fee that includes: 1) Regulatory Compliance Fee; 2) 911 Service fee; 3) Local Interconnect Recovery Fee; 4) State and local taxes, fees and surcharges. ETC. It's a phone. There's always a bunch of fees. :(
All of the above fees vary depending on your zip-code/location. My fees for all the above is $5.11/month. Yours my be a bit more or less but around $4-6/month. You can go to their site and look up your monthly fee.
Ooma has a bunch of extra phone "features" you can add that costs $20/month but they are extras you don't have to pay for.

I have had an OOMA IP Phone for seven months now. It is better voice quality than either COMCAST/XFINITY or AT&T.
It works with my FAX Modem to send FAXES too,
For a nominal fee they ported my old phone number too.

Easy to install, easy activation, good sound quality, works with all of our existing phones, has all of the features that our old phone system had, Couldn't ask for more.

Cut my phone bill

This was truly a snap to set up. You do have to sign up with a temporary telephone number which will not affect calling in any way, only caller ID for your outgoing calls. Ooma ported my phone number for me, at an extra charge in a few days. I did have to call to finally get the temporary number removed. I now pay only $4 and change a month for phone service.
I am only giving this 4 stars because when I was touting Ooma to a friend, I learned that a similar product advertised on tv cost about $20 for the gadget and $20 a year. Set up was easy....... For him.
I chose Ooma after looking for best VOIP on line and this was it.

Worked as advertised right out of the box. Due to some porting issues with my old carrier, I found out they have great Customer Service people, too! I I have used their Ooma HD app for iPhone, it allows use of home phone while on vacation/travel, so folks don't know we're away, and it notifies us of messages & call history, which we can retrieve right on our phones, tablets, or laptops. Clear connections, too!

Easy set up and number porting for a fee. Savings will far outweigh the initial expenditure. Service is just as good if not better than previous service and economical.

It works pretty good. I bought this as a replacement Ooma for my mom. Overall, it's decent. Make calls, receive calls. One big issue my mom says is that it will drop calls sometimes. I think for the amount you pay on the monthly bill it's for the most part worth it. I also have the Ooma wireless version. It's a backup phone and it drops calls at times..but again for the price I pay for the monthly bill it's OK.

Perfect for avoiding triple play

I cancelled my triple play service because as soon as it was activated I started receiving numerous telemarketer calls daily without ever giving the number out. Started with Ooma and setup was easy. I got to pick my own new number local to me, by choice, and was setup and making calls inside of 30 minutes. Sounds great on both ends and no one would ever know I was using VoIP.

The best alternative to a land line

I was skeptical at first but ever rising phone bills from AT&T forced me into it. I picked up the unit at Best Buy and in fifteen minutes was up and running on Ooma! Porting my phone number was fast even though the instructions said to expect it to take a couple of weeks (it was done in four days!). I elected to stay with the Premium edition as it has some features I like. Even with the extra cost it was still nowhere close to what I was paying. The clarity is good, no dropped calls. Four weeks in an I have no complaints!

The unit has worked great. Had one minor problem and tech support had it straightened out for us almost immediately. They made it really easy to get rid of the prime, which gave you international calling but cost more. First bill was under 5 bucks. At this rate I will have this paid off in no time. Calls are clear and have not ever had a dropped call in two months of use.

You cannot go wrong with Ooma if you want a VoIP phone system. The device is a nice price. The service has a great price. The features of the premium service are great. Call quality is great. I rarely have issues. Better than Vonage and cheaper.
