Crisp, clear, colorful images! Great Refresh rate minimizes blurring. Easy setup for ceiling mounting and table stand! Great starter projector for family and for PS5 2.0 compatible connection(set to game mode). Good in lighted environment but BEST in dark room. Will require additional sound system for optimal experience. Pictures taken in live action scenes unpaused.

Great projector. We only returned it because we needed a short throw projector. If I had enough money I would have kept it and also purchased a short projector. But it was a great buy.

No, I am not an expert who can tell the difference between authentic color reproduction and one that's off a little, even more than a little. Frankly, a little less than perfect is fine for me. I have enough perfection for a lifetime and at my age that's not a lot.
I have a large almost white wall and project more than a 13 foot image from a TV tuner and/or cd player/cd, or recording on a hard disk. BTW, I am a EE and a lawyer and have been using an inexpensive projector for more years than I can remember. That being said, it's a vast improvement over the unit that self destructed after about ten years. Considering the price, I think it's great. Nice bright, clear and well colored presentation. Didn't see any unpleasant fringing, didn't see anything like that even if it was in the reviews. My only gripe, there is no manual in the box, (I hate going on line for one), and there were no registration materials in the box. Optoma told me where to go to get them (online of course) and I am thinking of telling them where they can go as well for their future customers. It's nice that people are so helpful to each other. None the less, there were no setup instructions and I couldn''t even see the one page something with micro print. That come in handy when I needed something to rest my coffee cup on.
Back to the projector, Best Buy delivered quickly, and before the date it had promised. Unpacking was easy if not disappointing for the lack of any paperwork and manual. The unit was relatively easy to set up without too many thoughts of throwing against the wall for lack of a manual or even the most rudimentary instructions. Okay, I thought of it but couldn't return it if it didnt work.
once I got it working, it's really bright and I didn't need to darken the room at all to watch it. When I put it on low power I could not hear the fan, but I am worried that the brightness really only dimmed ever so slightly. I wonder what should happen on low power and if it is working properly. I'd read the manual to find out if I had one.
It's got lots of features and I'll try them when I read the manual, someday. In the meantime, the projection is great on my 28 year old painted wall, it's spectacular. I can't wait to find out if it is set up correctly. Yeah, I need to read the manual. Maybe they will do the right thing for a 78 year old engineer/lawyer who enjoys helping clients who have been treated badly. Do you think I have been treated badly, you know, no manual?
Lets see, I gave a good plug for Best Buy, they deserve it, if you haven;t figured it out, I like the projector and I'll keep it, just wish I had a real manual. Come on Optoma, I don't think I'll sue you for one crummy real manual, I think, nah, that would be rude, ya think?
I would recommend it to a friend if I knew he was capable of installing it without a manual, or to someone I didn't care for who I knew was technically inept. At my age you get to say what you think, and I would say I know what Optoma should do, and it's customers like me who really let them know.
I am so glad to be of service. No, I would not like a copy off an office printer, I have four in the office and another at home. A real manual, bound, that will proudly take it's place in a pile of other manuals.

Great picture and relatively easy setup. It's plenty bright in low light settings. Multiple options for placement. We used this in a patio/pool area set up for night movies and it turned out great. It's a little heavier and loud than expected but for price and usage it fit the bill.

After many, many days of researching projectors and reading reviews as well as watching YouTube videos, I finally settled on this projector. And I must say, this projector is awesome! It has so many features. It’s not hard to figure things out via menu. From keystone correction to image shift, quite a few color and format options, 3D and supports 4K, just to name a few. I was and still am pretty impressed with this projector. The picture is excellent even for viewing around dusk in May and June months. I couldn’t be happier. I have had it for a month or little over a month, and have not had any issues, thus far. Very happy and satisfied customer here! I would recommend.
Also, thank you Best Buy for excellent customer service!

The only thing i would say is that you need at least 10 feet to set this up, and youll get a bigger amd better image from about 12 feet to mount this one. Does well even during the day with a window open, as long as the sun isnt directly on the screen, and is generally an excellent choice. Bought on sale at $480, more than that you can get better from the same brand.

First all make sure u have a projector screen or get your wall painted berh paint Color called (silver screen paint) ! Then omg this projector image quality is fantastic on my living room wall .. you can adjust the color to Become acclimated to what you’re watching Blu-ray , DVDs and video games, (It turns my ps4 on when I turn the projector on )
It doesn’t have a very noisy fan.the internal speakers Suck . So make sure u get a 3.5 Aux core to hook to ur sound system
I Totally recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonable price projector.. it’s worth every penny !

Great budget projector. It has a 4k/60 input but the native resolution is 1080p. It’s also really bright and has HDR . Good for gaming with low latency. Overall a really good package for not a lot of money.

We absolutely LOVE this projector! Incredible image quality, sharp and colorful, and since we always run it on ECO mode (and it's still almost too bright), it is whisper quiet. Overall a fantastic machine that I would recommend to anyone!

I have an Optoma HD26 and it did great on my screen porch for movie nights in the summer going on 4 years. So when I made a home theater setup in my basement I figured I would pick Optoma again.
I bought the HD28HDR because it advertises a 4K HDR input. I dont care about it actually being 4K, but it needs to accept 4K so that my Nvidia Shield Pro can direct stream 4K HDR HEVC movies with atmos from plex without transcoding which kills my home server.
Turns out I quickly found some major issues on this thing..
1. If you use CEC so your Roku or Shield can turn on the projector, it will auto turn on the projector to HDMI 1 once it boots up. HDMI 1 on this projector is the junk port.. no 4K 60hz HDR. So even though its always on HDMI 2, when it turns on it will resume HDMI 2 for a split second and then switch to HDMI 1. So.. I need to keep the projector remote handy just for that reason which instantly makes this non-wife friendly.
2. It takes SOOOO long to switch resolution to 4K HDR that most apps think there is a problem and cancel playback or switch to 4K without HDR which butchers the colors. I usually have to try 2-4 times to get a movie to play in 4K HDR. Its really painful and embarrassing with people around. In my case, its not the receiver (I swapped from Yahama to Denon), its not the playback device (Roku and Nvidia Shield and xbobx one X do it) and it isn't the cables (I unmounted the projector from ceiling and tested with a 6' certified brand name cable that works on my 4K HDR TV upstairs). The projector just sits black with "searching" at the bottom right.
Support is useless. I have submitted 2 tickets, one is 3 weeks old now with no reply.
I was an Optoma fan, but no way anymore. This thing is also a lot louder than my HD26 and it ramps up the fans ALL the time.

Last of the 3D options I over 200 3D movies and they no longer make 3D tv’s I needed a plan B in case 1 of my 3D tv’s goes out. The 3D quality is top notch. Doesn’t come with 3D glasses had to buy them on Amazon. Not too crazy about the remote.

Great quality. 3D is VERY impressive. The only downside is the fan. It's a little louder than I'd expected. I have a surround sound so it's not do bad.
