Brush began to grow black mold after 2 months! Too many moving parts for it to completely dry after use. I'll go back to the old one that has a little metal stick that attach the brush head.

When you're paying $300 for a toothbrush there are features you expect to be present, leaving you satisfied of your purchase. Let's go over the ones I believe are actually useful and enhance our twice-daily task of oral care. Color display: This toothbrush makes it easy to access and use all its features thanks to its display right on the brush handle. For example, if you choose to not use the app, you can still see the timer on the brush. This was encouraging to brush for the recommended amount. The app: I believe the app is fantastic. It has a very useful feature where it shows a mapping of your teeth while you brush, letting you know where you need to spend more time. For example, you might subconsciously be brushing one side of your mouth more than the other, but you never noticed. The apps function makes that information available to you. Pressure detection: This toothbrush has better pressure detection than any other toothbrush I have ever tried. We tend to brush too hard which actually damages the enamel on our teeth. Higher-end toothbrushes tell you when your pressure is too hard. This brush does that better than any I've tried. On top of that, the brush will even tell you when you're not applying enough pressure. That's something I have not seen on other brushes. Cleaning: This brush features a new friction-less motor from Oral-B that provides a superior cleaning. If used as intended, this brush will leave an excellent clean feel. High end carrying case: If you take your toothbrush on your travels frequently, then you will appreciate the carrying case. I have no concern of the case coming open, or letting things in. This case also charges your brush which is a very nice feature. CONS: I really only have one con for this brush. It might be obvious, the price tag. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide whether or not the price of this brush is worth it to you. For me, it's too high and detracts the value you receive for the price. This does not mean that I wouldn't recommend this brush, it's fantastic. If you want the best and have the extra money then you have found yourself the best brush on the market.

Get a better clean with the iO 9

Bottom Line: The Oral-B iO Series 9 is expensive, but it might be worth it if you need help building and tracking your brushing habits. Pros: packed with useful features (e.g., different modes, pressure sensitivity, A.I. mapping, useful app); includes charging travel case Cons: brush arm is large compared to manual and other electric toothbrushes; best features require app is open; not ideal for sharing Review: Out of the box, the Oral-B iO is easy to setup thanks to its multicolor display, which is largely used to help you select your mode (e.g., normal clean, whitening, sensitive, etc.) and keep track of your brushing time. The motor does a great job of delivering constant power to the brush head, and my teeth do feel cleaner after a few uses even after moving from another well-rated electric toothbrush. The pressure sensitivity also cuts power so you don’t over-brush your teeth. Where the iO really shines as a piece of technology, though, is in its ability to guide your brushing. With the app open, you can use “guided brushing” mode, where the brush and app work together to show you where you’ve brushed well (front, back, chew and zone) and where you need to continue brushing. For the most part, the feature works well, and I was surprised to see how much I was neglecting certain areas of my teeth. My one frustration, though, is that there’s no way to pause; if you hit the power button to stop the brush head, the app will automatically think you’re done and give you your report. It’s satisfying to place the brush on the magnetic charging base, and it hold the toothbrush well. Your battery percentage is displayed when you attach the base, and a single brushing session seems to use about 10% of the charge. The brush also comes with a charging case (and separate plug) for when you are on the go, negating the need to leave your electric toothbrush behind. Users coming from a manual toothbrush or a different style electric toothbrush will likely notice how much larger the brush head arm is in their mouth. The design of the neck arm (on the base) also looks like it might be difficult to clean/keep clean, since liquid could theoretically drip down into the gap between the plastic connector and the interior mechanical components. Time will tell, though, on what that area will look like. Finally, I have two minor complaints. The app does a great job tracking your data (it also monitors when you need to change the brush head), but it does appear that you need to have your phone and app open to record this information. It does not seem that the brush can save your brushing session information and sync it to the phone at a later point if it’s out of range. Second, it’s easy to share toothbrushes with removable heads, so it would have been nice if there was a way to manage multiple users’ data.

An Incredible Tool for Keeping Your Teeth Clean

I've always just been a toothbrush guy, and I admit I'm probably not the best at keeping my teeth clean. I could definitely use a kick in the pants when it comes to proper dental hygiene. Enter the Oral-B iO Series 9 electric toothbrush. When I opened up the packaging and saw that the first thing to do was download the Oral-B app, I was like, "What the heck does an app have to do with tooth brushing?" The answer? A lot! Download the iPhone app, create an account, sync the app with the iO toothbrush, follow the prompts, and get down to brushing. When you start brushing, just open up the app, hit "Begin," and start brushing. A set of teeth, both upper and lower jaws, is seen on the smartphone screen. As you use the iO toothbrush, the teeth change colors, letting you know that you are doing a good job of brushing them. When they turn a sparkling white, you know that you've done a good job. And let me tell you, when you run your tongue across your teeth, and you can feel how clean and smooth they are after a good brushing with the iO, the first thing you think is, "My teeth haven't felt this clean since I went to the dentist!" In other words, the iO electric toothbrush isn't just about apps or telling you how well you are brushing your teeth, it does a fantastic job of getting them clean. And, if you don't do a good job or cut off your brushing a little early, the app and the toothbrush let you know about it! A couple of frowning faces show up on the app and on the small display on the toothbrush. I was like, "Nope, not leaving my toothbrush with a frown on it," and I kicked the toothbrush on and kept going until it gave me a happy face (usually about 2 minutes of brushing). There are several modes/functions in addition to just a plain daily cleaning. You can brush your tongue with a special mode, you can set the toothbrush to be gentle, you can track the quality of your breath, and you can even track if your gums were bleeding after a brush. This is a toothbrush that allows you to track your personal dental hygiene in such a way that those trips that you dread to the dentist will be a lot less stressful. Battery life is excellent. I've been using three times a day for the last week, and still have not had to charge it. Overall, I'm not sure how you can get a better electric toothbrush than this. I actually look forward to brushing my teeth, and that is saying something. Highly recommended!

Very happy with my new Oral-B iO 9, I love that it has a travel charge case awesome! & a magnetic charging stand for home. It was a quick & easy blue tooth set up download led the app & was set up within 3 mins, personalized my set up. It comes with 4 replacement heads. Once your set with the app on your iPhone home you can actually watch your phone for the amount of time spent on each section of teeth as you brush it tells you if your putting to much pressure & if you’ve over brushed a section. It has several brush settings & you can also track brushing your tongue, flossing & mouth wash. Was totally happy with my new toothbrush & the charge lasted.

I've had a lot of electric tooth brushes through the years ORALB circular brush head design can't be beat it leaves your gums and mouth feeling much cleaner and fresher than any other brand that I have ever used. My favorite extra if you have to stay anywhere over night is the travel case which is also a chrager. Now the technology part I installed the ORALB app from google play store on my Samsung S20+ and the brush pairs easily the app is useful but my opinion is data mining information take it or leave it. Pick up the brush and the LED screen says hello set your brush level on screen very easy I enjoy the led screen also shows you battery percentage level very handy. An entertaining enjoyable feature if you don't complete a 2 minute brush cycle the smilely face will have a frown face reminding you brush longer. All things said ORALB brush does and awesome job cleaning teeth and gums leaving a great clean mouth freshness no other brush can compare to. Worth every dollar.

Yes, I'm an adult. Yes, I recognize the importance of protecting the only set of adult teeth that I'll ever have. Does that mean I enjoy and/or am always diligent about doing so- NO! Enter the Oral-B iO Series 9 toothbrush & app! As with other reviewers, the idea of "setting-up" one's toothbrush certainly sounds odd, but it's worth it! You get real-time feedback regarding whether you're brushing long enough and/or in the right places, direct feedback when you're applying too much pressure, a score on how you're doing and how to improve- it just makes brushing your teeth more fun! As always there are a couple cons: price: putting all this magic into a less expensive option would mean it would be used by more folks and kids! Perhaps the other Oral-B options are just as great. no ability to pause: two minutes+ can be along time to go without spitting, but if you pause the brush it thinks you're done and ends your session- not cool. The alternative is to keep going & that can get a little messy... but you gotta do what it takes to get those scores, right?!? :)

The cleaning power is step above other electric toothbrushes I have teied, it does a great job and leaves your teeth feeling very clean. But that's not all this brush can do, the app functionallity is a very cool and welcome addition to the dental hygiene game. It will track how effectively you brush with stats for time, pressure and areas brushed. It will even give pointers to improve, such as areas to spend a bit more time on and if you are applying the correct amount of pressure. Thankfully the addition of this tech doesn't add a lot of complication to using the toothbrush and setup is quick and easy. You can even forgo the app and still benefit from the built-in profiles (Daily Clean, Whitening, Gum Care, Sensitive, Intense, Super Sensitive, and Tongue Clean). The included travel charging case and the overall compact size are nice touches as well.

Bluetooth 3D feedback for better brushing habits

The Oral B iO Series 9 is a really great toothbrush for anyone looking to learn more about their brushing habits. The advanced technology in the brush connects to an app on your smartphone and shows a map of your mouth as you are brushing, ensuring that you give all of your teeth the attention they deserve. My previous brush was from a competing brand with ultrasonic cleaning (vibrations only) while the Oral B brushes spin and vibrate. I think this iO Series 9 brush is a great purchase for someone replacing an electric brush or trying electric for the first time. Coming from a ~6 year old sonic vibration brush, the iO brush seemed slightly louder at first. However, a huge advantage to me is how the brush does not get super loud if you accidentally tap the plastic against your teeth when moving it around your mouth. The sonic vibrating brush I had previously was SUPER LOUD if you did this, and the Oral B is just consistently the same volume. Just a more pleasant experience. I really like that it has a simple “tongue clean” mode that operates for exactly 30 seconds with a more gentle motion. And I like that at the end of two minutes the brush doesn’t cut off immediately, it just lets you know you’re done. Controls were all easy to use on the brush itself (without the app). The color screen and color ring near the top of the handle are a nice touch for the iO brush. At first my wife and I kinda laughed that you could customize the color of the ring indicator - it seemed silly to have that feature at all. However, it is really cool how the ring changes color to indicate you are pressing too hard or too lightly as you brush. It’s easily visible out of the corner of your eye or in a mirror. The color display was easy to use to select different brush modes, and I also liked how it displays the timer so you can see how long you have to go (in addition, it has the “pacing” timer where it buzzes in your mouth every 30 seconds to let you know to move on). I especially like that it has an “intense clean” mode you can use that is a little stronger but not necessarily longer than the standard 2 minutes. My old brush required a minute longer to get a “superior” clean vs standard. The primary added value for the Series 9 are the smartphone app with 3D mapping as you brush, along with the charging travel case. Here is where the brush really shines, and also where I was frustrated and feel I can only give 4 stars. First, the app: seeing the map of your teeth is really neat as you brush, showing what section of your mouth you are in and how hard you are pressing is valuable feedback. I really liked that it shows what teeth you might be missing. However, I did not like that the brush “quadrant pacing” timer doesn’t function when you are connected to the app. You have to actually look at the screen the whole time, to know either you’ve covered all your teeth or if it’s been long enough to change quadrants. Seems like this shouldn’t be disabled. That alone wouldn’t be enough to knock off a star, though, since I think the 3D clean tracking is really cool. Biggest mix feelings were about the charging travel case: I like that with the Series 9 travel case you don’t need to carry the little magnetic puck with you too. However, it seems like this is a huge missed opportunity especially given the price of the iO Series 9. For one, the charger is proprietary. If you’re going on a 2 week trip (or packing in a hurry and aren’t sure how charged your toothbrush is), it would be nice to just pack the case and be able to use a standard USB micro or type-C plug to charge it. Still, even with all that, it’s nice to be able to only pack a wall plug and not the whole magnetic puck when traveling. Another downside: the charging case only has room for one brush head. I think this is a big mistake. When traveling, my wife and I usually only pack one brush handle and switch the heads to save space in our bags. Now we will need to either carry two cases/handles or put the extra head in another container. In conclusion: I think the iO series is a really great product and a worthy upgrade from other electric brushes. The Series 9 in particular is a great value over the others in the series, since the Series 9 includes more brush heads and the charging travel case. However, there are some minor frustrations that keep me from giving it a full 5 stars.

This is truly state-of-the-art, 21st century futuristic teeth cleaning. I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical about all the bells and whistles, the technology involved…but it all comes together for a really good, complete brushing experience. I really like the wireless charging feature—just a small disc (heavy and weighted, so it won’t be pushed around your bathroom counter easily, a nice touch) where the toothbrush can be placed to charge up easily after each use. It hardly takes up any room. There’s also a provided compact case for traveling, where you can store and carry the toothbrush, and also plug it in wherever you go—the traveling case very conveniently doubles as a charger. The set-up took less than a minute. I downloaded the Oral B app and pressed the power button to turn it on. The included directions are quick and easy to follow. There are 7 different modes of cleaning to choose from (daily clean, sensitive, gum care, whitening, intense clean, super sensitive, and tongue clean), which is easily done using the interactive colorful and clear display on the toothbrush handle—and I appreciate being able to read it without my glasses on, as I don’t wear my glasses during my morning and nightly ablutions. There is a neat color ring which changes color depending on your brushing pressure—it glows green when you are applying the correct pressure and red when you are applying too much. And one of the best features is the timer, which signals you with a stuttering sound every 30 seconds so that you know when to change to the next area/quadrant of your mouth, with the total recommended minimum brushing time being 2 minutes. You can also choose to brush while having the Oral B app open on your smartphone or tablet—which is what I do—and it will visually show you when you’ve brushed each section of your mouth enough, and when you’re applying too much pressure. In the app itself, you can review your history and any recommendations for better brushing habits based on that history. The whole experience of using this electric toothbrush has really showed me what I’ve been doing incorrectly with my regular toothbrushing routine—brushing too hard, not brushing long enough, not covering every nook and cranny that I should have been. And I’m not kidding when I say that every single time I’ve finished brushing with this electric toothbrush and followed its directions perfectly, the end result is that just-left-the-dentist feeling after a checkup and professional cleaning—my teeth really, really feel very clean and refreshed. I remember seeing reports and demos of these technologically connected electric toothbrushes at last year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) where they showcase the latest and greatest in new technology, and I thought, sure, right, who needs an app-connected toothbrush that does all these extra stuff?—but upon actually using it and experiencing it firsthand I now understand the benefits of its daily use and I do recommend it for anyone looking for an electric toothbrush. It really is worth it for healthier teeth and gums.

Ok, silly title, but seriously though… Right off the bat I noticed how cool the charging base is. It’s a wonderfully designed sleek little magnetic round base that gently grabs the toothbrush and holds it in place. The feel of the tooth brush is solid and the little interactive color screen is absurdly good considering that it’s a toothbrush. Now let’s get to the meat of this review, how is it as a toothbrush? The best I’ve ever used! But not just how it brushes, the whole experience is fun. As far as a tooth brush, it’s top notch. The vibrating round head is powerful and effective. But I’ve had other really nice power toothbrushes before. This one is next level. When Im brushing I get visual cues from the device itself to alert me if I am not applying the correct amount of pressure. A ring of light shifts shades as my pressure varies. The color coding is instinctive as blue is too soft, green perfect, yellow or red means to back off a bit on the pressure. Follow along on your smart phone and the app gives even more details. It will track time spent in each of 16 different zones. Watching each section of teeth turn white on your app is oddly satisfying, and I’m no kid, I swear I’m a 46 year old man. When you are done you get a rating. Only been using this device for a few days but Im already set in my routine of wanting not just the smiley face to appear on my brush, but I want the smiley face with the stars for eyes lol! You get this when you have thoroughly covered every area. The set up was simple. It comes with 4 heads, so I’ll be set there for a while. It even has 7 different modes ranging from super sensitive to whitening depending on how aggressive you want to be. All in all this is the coolest and most effective toothbrush I have ever used. I love this thing and I would absolutely recommend to a friend.

Upon powering up the toothbrush you're greeted by a full-color display prompting you to choose your language. I wasn't ready for that. I've never seen a toothbrush with a screen on it. After you choose your language you get to choose the color (white, blue, teal, yellow, orange) of orb that the toothbrush displays to further personalize your experience. The toothbrush cleaning can be set from gentle to downright aggressive but sometimes that's what you want. I like how the accompanying smartphone app works to plot out the area of the teeth that you may have missed a little bit. The Bluetooth connection keeps you connected to the app very well. I love the magnetic induction charging and the included travel charging case. Huge bonus points for including four replaceable brush heads. Make no mistake that this is the best smart toothbrush you can buy.

This is a really fantastic toothbrush for getting your teeth clean. It has lots of bells and whistles that I’m not likely to use, but the thing that it is supposed to do most of all it does extremely well. I have a less expensive Oral B model and there is a noticeable difference between the two. My teeth simply feel cleaner, as if professionally done. Additionally, this model is significantly quieter when running and is definitely the better looking of the two. I do, however, prefer the less expensive model’s rubbery feel in places on the handle which makes it far less slippery than this model. Dropping it is a distinct possibility if you’re not paying attention to what you’re doing, so be careful. That aside though, the case is nicer, the magnetic charger is nicer - everything is just a few steps up. Do I wish that it used the same brush heads as the other, which can be replaced with generic brands for a decent price reduction? Sure. Maybe there are some out there for this model, but I’ll have to research that. Otherwise it appears to be a proprietary fit which is never quite ideal. Still, this is an easy recommendation if you’re looking for a powerful cleaning device at this price point.
