    Outstanding Blender

Before I begin my review, I should start out by saying that I am a bit of a blender snob, and I collect them for fun. I didn't really NEED a blender, but I saw the display model at Best Buy and couldn't resist. That being said, I am very impressed with this blender. It is consistent with the quality that I expect from Oster. It blended the same Strawberry Banana Smoothie that I always make MUCH better than the 7-year old KitchenAid blender that I often use - no chunks whatsoever. I tested the ice crush feature, and it made mince meat out of ice in 2-3 seconds. In fact, I would dare say that it crushes ice perfectly, and faster than any of my other blenders. I also appreciate the Easy Clean feature - a definite bonus. I like the metal drive shaft MUCH better than the plastic teeth on the KitchenAid and Cuisinart - there is no guesswork as far as where/when to place the jar on top of the base; no teeth that could potentially break/wear (note: the teeth have never broken on my KitchenAid or Cuisinart, so I am just speaking about potentialities). The jar is designed for MUCH easier pouring than any other blender I have used. If you are at all concerned with the presentation/appearance of your blending results, this blender certainly delivers. Why a 4-star instead of a 5? The plastic collar is much more fragile than other blenders I have used (also, more fragile than other Oster's that I have seen). The rest of my cons are very nit-picky and may not bother most people. If anyone is familiar with the smell of a new blender motor, this blender (along with Cuisinart and Waring blenders) has that new motor smell if you let it run for more than 15 seconds. Personally, this does not bother me, but I have noticed that it makes some people nervous. My initial ice-crush experiment actually produced ice that was infused with the smell, but a few good cleanings should solve that problem. The lid is not the best I have ever seen - It does have a removable cap in the center, but it is black and does not have measured lines like the Cuisinart. Louder than the KitchenAid (KSB5ER4), but quieter than the Cuisinart (BFP-10CH). Despite these minor things, I would highly, highly recommend this blender!

    This Blender Changed My Life!!!

This blender has changed my life for the better! When i first bought it I was in a very deep rut... didn't want to go anywhere, do anything... spent my days just sittin around the apartment. Then one day, i had an idea... i would make a smoothie featuring bananas and strawberries... crazy, i know. Sounds easy enough... i went to the market bought some strawberries and bananas and fruti juice and brought them home... very excited! Then it happened...i was crushed with the realization that i no longer owned a blender... i was ready to give up. I moped around for a couple of days until i had a revelation... i could buy a brand new blender at Best Buy. I ran down the street to BB (drove actually... HELLLLLOOOOOO, it is like 3 miles away) and started to look for blenders (didnt know if they sold them or not). Because the store was organized so well... i was able to find the blenders aisle lickety split :) There were some really expensive ones there , stainless steel and everything and there were a couple of cheapies... all plastic, all the time. And then i saw this one... great looking, very attractive perfectly priced and the customer service rep assured me that it blends stuff. i was overjoyed! I grabbed it off the shelf and ran to the checkout line (literally ran). They rang me up and for some reason the price was even cheaper than posted on the shelf... this was MY DAY people! Anyway, i brought it home and made a smoothie... it was ok, tasted kinda bittter actually... i think cause i didnt remove the tops of the strawberries.... but what the hell, i got it done. Im still just hanging around the apartment but find myself thinking of going out and doing stuff more and more. The end.

    Great Blender

I purchased this blender mostly to make smoothies. I have tried several other brands of blenders and smoothie makers, but always had clumps or chunks in my smoothies. This blender completely blends everything to a wonderful consistency. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was too clean. It has a special setting so that you can put dishwashing soap in and fill it with water, and it blends around and cleans the entire inside thouroughly. My teenagers even love it, they can make their own shakes, malts and blizzard like treats to the perfect consistency. It also works as a food processor, so you have less applainces to deal with and store. It looks nice and is used so often that it just stays out on the counter. No need to hide it away in the cabinets. I highly recommend this blender.

I had hesitations about purchasing this blender because it didn't seem to appear to be as large as my previous blender, was a different brand, and didn't have a pour spout. I am so glad I decided to give it a try. I found it very easy to put together/set up. I use the blender every day, it has more speeds than I expected and does an amazing job, even better than my previous blender which cost more money than this one. Being glass and dishwasher safe (I don't put the blade in the dishwasher), is a great benefit. I broke my previous blender because it being plastic and in the dishwasher, and I found I don't miss not having the side pour spout, with the shape and the way this blender works, pouring is clean and easy, no mess. I would definitely recommend this product.

Oster 16-Speed Blender - Brushed Nickel

GREAT PRODUCT AND DOES ITS JOB FOR A GOOD PRICE I replaced my Osterizer Blender that I had for years and just kept on working. WHen the carafe cracked I bought a new one instead of replacing that part and bought Oster as my old one was so good. THis is even better-lots of speeds and power and looks so good I can leave on counter. At the high speeds when it was on it was slowly moving around a little bit on the counter and when I called Oster about it and looked for the model # on the bottom I saw the legs had protein powder on them (OOPS!) and cleaning that off seemed to handle it. Also, all Oster products are interchangeable so my old food processor for my old blender or any other attachments will work on this new base-nice bonus! PS I am a very picky consumer and hard to please. Judy

    Faulty Description

This blender is NOT brushed nickel! Though the product description says it is. It is made out of the cheapest looking plastic money can’t buy and it looks it. But then again any plastic that is chrome or silver colored, whether it be a car or a blender, will scream “cheap looking plastic”. That is why I prefer plastic to be colored black. Also the blender in the product description belongs to an older previous model. What I received was a newer model 300. It has a glass jar and a all metal drive that will last until the next ice age. It is working beautifully so far.

i bought his mixer while waiting for a special ordered product that wouldn't arrive for a while before I needed another mixer. I bought this in hopes it would at least crush ice well and make juices and smoothies for until my new blender arrived. One of my dieting juices contains leaves and this blender did not blend them well compared to the previous kitchenaid and ninja I own. Overall I'd only recommend this blender if you can't afford a better quality blender. If you leave the mixer on for a while, it eventually blended everything, but it definitely took quite a while and the results still weren't completely blended.

The 6812 can definitely crush ice, but it does depend on hum ice you are trying to crush at one time. You want to make sure you have more liquids in your blender than solids. Too much pressure will slow your blade down, or even damage it. Please contact Oster direct at (800) 334-0759, and let's see if we can help you other blending options. Thank you, and I look forward to your call. Oster

My wife instructed me to go get another blender, since she loaned out old one to her sister. I knew what I was going to get -- but then she caught me as I was about to bolt out the door and told me not to get what I was thinking about getting. So, with that in mind, I ended up getting this one after researching product reviews while standing in the blender section for about 30 minutes. This one ranked as a great blender at a great price. Unfortunately, we never got a chance to use it because my wife didn't like its looks when I placed it on the counter. Needless to say, we ended up going back to the store, and she picked the blender I was going to purchase in the first place!

My wife wanted a new blender to replace the one we lost in our move. We searched specifically for one that had a heat resistant glass jar. This one has it, big capacity to do a whole range of products from cold smoothies to hot soup. Lots of speed settings help get the right consistency for what you are preparing. Only spoiler is that what we thought was stainless steel is actually plastic made to look like stainless steel. Used 1-2 times per week since we bought it and it is working fine.

I needed a new blender but didn't want to spend a fortune just to make morning smoothies. I can't remember how much this cost (about $40?). For $40 I think it should be a little hardier. It's not the mechanism that doesn't seem very strong, it's the blade + parts - particularly the black base. I feel like that will break before this blender is due to bite the dust. It's replacing a blender that lasted about 15 years. I bought this because it was the least expensive with a glass pitcher. I'm going to say I'd recommend it but with a warning of it's limitations.

It’s been a month since I bought it for 42$ in a deal(10$ lower from its usual cost) and I’m very satisfied with the product. It has four fanned blade and crushes everything from fruits to veggies and prepares an instant shake. The good part is that it does NOT produce irritating loud sound when operating, it is very easy to clean the glass jar and the blades can also be taken out easily for cleaning. It’s indeed a very good product at this cost.

    Not so lucky

I've owned this blender for over 6 months, and I haven't had the best of luck with it. What drew me to it were the reviews on here; however, I haven't had the same results. I mainly use it to make fruit smoothies, so even if I'm using frozen fruit, slightly defrosted frozen fruit, or ice, it takes a VERY long time for it to blend/mix my smoothie (yes I include some liquid when I'm blending). I hope everyone else continues to have better luck with theirs. Mine was a dud.

I bought this blender a while back to juice whole lemons for when feeling the sniffles. I was at a friends for dinner and wanted my lemon drink and used their Oster. I was astonished that if you put far right bottom for a minute and then the white button on left for about 30 sec that the lemon is pure liquid. It was way better than my blender at home. Of course, I ran out and bought an Oster, which Ive now had for years. I add water and stevia and it's a great immune booster.

So far this blender works for what we need it to. Mostly making soups and sometimes smoothies. Haven't tested out the ice crushing ability. Only complaints I have is that the off button is also the pulse button so you have to give it one more blast before it turns off, kind of annoying. Also that black plastic ring is worthless. I took it off and left it off. Speeds don't seem all that necessary. The middle speeds seem to all be about the same. For the price though I think it is worth it.

Powerful Blender ~ Quieter ~ Yummy Smoothies!

I absolutely love my new blender. I searched Google for ratings and specs and found that most people love this blender. Now I know why. My fruit & protein smoothies are quick and easy. This thing doesn't even wake my husband! My previous blender was a Hamilton-Beach 10-speed and THAT was loud. I promise that you will love this blender. I searched long & hard and found that most of every reviewer on various sites recommends this blender.

My kids wanted to start making smoothies so we thought we'd start with this one. We end up starting and stopping the blender many times to stir the smoothie because the blender can't handle the mix. It's very loud so use it during commercials so you don't upset the rest of the house guests. We will upgrade soon since smoothies are a hit in our house. It's good to see if you'll want to use one all the time but in the long haul you'll probably need to upgrade to a better one in the future.

This is the most fantastic blender ever! I absolutely love it! And it is a great value, priced perfectly! Perfect if you are a health nut and love juices and smoothies. It is pretty powerful and can blend most fruit and vegetables into a smooth drink with no chunks and pieces. This includes fruit and vegtables which typically are hard to blend like apples, carrots, celery, seeds, unpeeled tomatoes and others.

So this was a gift for my sister, because she really wanted it. And she still likes it, as it blends frozen stuff pretty well. She said it's also easy to use, but it does not blend all the way through unless you start stirring. So if you stir it up to get it going, it will blend fine. But that's if you don't mind stirring. She will be getting a different one in the future in hopes that it will blend better.

I had a more powerful 600 watt Oster Blender and broke the glass jar and decided to purchase this one. It only has a 450 watt motor but does a good job. The thing I like about Oster products is that their parts are interchangeable. Frequently, I use the new glass jar on my older more powerful motor base. The thing I don't really like about this blender is the amount of speeds. Upon using it, 16 speeds is excessive to me. It is a nice blender though.
