You may try these helpful tips in blending:
-Do put liquids in the jar first, and then add remaining ingredients.
-Liquid to solid ratio is the key
-Add more liquid if ingredients are not blending properly.
*For frozen drinks and smoothies, add enough liquid to the point where your solid ingredients begin to float.

Ha good experience with Oster Blender in the past.

After a while other blenders failed at the drives, which used sort of plastic gears. Our last Oster lasted 10 years. It still running, but at times, the speed just locked in. We have not tried this one yet, but we have a concern about it longevity. The base is made of plastic, and feather weighted. Oster's quality perhaps is not as it was. Hope that we are wrong, but we doubt it.

Great mixer for the price.
