Built: To start with with the built, this juicer has a great capacity, looks great when placed on an island, takes about few inches of space which is not too bad. Installation: installation was super simple with very obvious parts. I struggled a bit with the grey pressing cylindrical part as I did not follow the instructions clearly. Juice: I tried making apple, carrot, grapes, orange, tomato and loved all of them. With tomato, I observed a lot of wastage the fruit. Otherwise, the juice gets extracted really well. Cleaning: here comes the bad part! Oster advertises self-cleaning ability - I was really fascinated and assumed that cleaning is going to be supero simple and easy. But NO! It was terrible. I filled up the cylindrical part with water and and turned on the juicer to cleaning mode and all it does is to clean the blades and NOTHING else! I started removing the parts to clean them up individually and realized that there are way TOO MANY PARTS for a juicer. This was annoying. It is really painful to remove so many parts out every time you make juice. Making the juice takes about 3 minutes and cleaning it takes about 10 minutes! Also, the outlet where the juice comes out needs some kind of a stopper: every time I take the e juice collector out, I need to make sure I put another cup or a bowl so that the juice doesn’t drip and make the island dirty. Overall, juicer works great.. good capacity.. but just because the cleaning is painful, I wouldn’t recommend this to my friends. There are definitely other juicers in the market that are easy to clean and maintain and also cheaper.

I've been juicing over 5 years. Previously used a well known competitor brand. My only gripe in juicing is the time it takes to clean. This item resolves that problem with the self cleaning feature. This is a game changer and distinguishes this product in an elite category. This item is very easy to clean which will encourage me to use it more frequently. THis product works extremely well juicing. Big fan!

this my first time actually having my own juicer, my girlfriend always asking for fresh orange juice and the only option for me at the time was to squeeze the fruit it self, its very time consuming, but after trying out this juicer i sure was excited to make more! Pro - so far we have only tried fruits from oranges, mango, pineapple and papaya i guess i wasn't quite ready for how the oranges was gonna turned out but after getting extracted i was sold on how much flavor you actually get. textured was different that i thought but were not complaining - the design have some plastic and stainless steel, i thought it looked great looks fairly modern, you also have the self cleaning section and 2 power level to choose from - speaking on the self cleaning, it did great job by the way, opened it up to see and check how much it was actually cleaning from the inside, and i was happy enough that the section that was being cleaned turned out fine. beyond that the rest of the equipment to clean is just simple rinse. Cons - the negative is not on the device itself by my kitchen drawers are kinda small so storing this was kinda awkward and i end up putting it back in the box again i love this juicer and made my life alot easier in the kitchen, were planning on checking out some fruit recipes and wouldnt be a bad idea to use it for some alcoholic fun drink to try. thanks Oster my girl friend and i are diffidently enjoying make our own fruit juices.

The Oster Self-Cleaning Professional Juice Extractor, Stainless Steel Juicer - Stainless Steel offers serious power to juice anything you throw at it. Fruits and Veggies have no chance under the 1000w power of this juice. I found this juice to be almost over powered. While it had no issue running through the fruits and vegetables, this was frustrating to figure out the self cleaning aspect of this unit and ended up burning/melting the plastic under the press blade after the first use. This makes me question the long-term durability of this product based on this possible defect. PROS - Oster Quality and Recognition - Powerful - Look and outward design blends well with other kitchen appliances CONS - Confusing self-cleaning feature - Self-cleaning caused plastic to burn/melt under the press Neutral on this product. For the cost, I would not recommend it based on the possible design flaw I discovered.

I have to admit, my first experience with the Oster Self-Cleaning juicer was far short of glorious. Why? Because I didn't read the instructions, lol. But first, let me say this. I don't care what the "gurus" say about leaving the rinds on oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits. They don't magically taste great by juicing them. I had never juiced an orange with its rind on before, and instead of enjoying my juice, I had to suffer through it. But on to the juicer itself. Out of the box it looks amazing. It is modern (futuristic, actually), sleek and looks great on the counter. The instructions are easy to understand regarding the setup and initial cleaning. In less than 10 minutes, including the first cleaning, it was ready to use. I decided on oranges, peaches, carrots, celery and strawberries. The peaches and oranges needed to be quartered as they were fairly large. The rest went in just fine. I juiced the entire celery stalk, and I did not remove the stems from the strawberries. The juicing was a rather enjoyable experience. I have a 1400 watt food processor which is a bit loud, so I expected the juicer would be a bit loud as well. It was not. I was impressed by how quiet it actually is. I was surprised that it seems to know when there is extra pressure while putting "hard" items in the chute as it delivers more torque, all on its own. The juice flowed freely into the supplied 40oz pitcher. The chute and push rod allowed easy delivery of the fruits and vegetables into the juicing blade. It took right at a minute to juice two oranges, a peach, several strawberries, two celery stalks and a small handful of baby carrots. Then it was time to taste the juice. As I started out by saying, the orange rinds basically ruined the juice as far as I was concerned. Again, don't believe everything the "experts" on the web tell you! And then it was time to test out the self-cleaning function. And this is where things sort of fell apart. The procedure is simple and straightforward...you fill the pusher with water, put it in the chute, and turn the button to the cleaning position. Which I did. As soon as I turned it on and pushed the pusher down, water gushed out and created a huge mess on my counter top. For some reason I "assumed" the water would stay in the juicer until the cleaning was finished and then I would empty it. This is where reading the directions come in handy... I failed to put the 40oz container underneath the spout, and thus the reason behind the flooded counter top. After going back to the instruction book, I discovered my error, and after cleaning everything up, went through the self-cleaning procedure one more time. Worked flawlessly! Overall it is an amazing appliance. It is by far the best juicer I have ever owned. It's powerful, quiet, well designed and very well built. The one and only VERY MINOR issue is that because of its rather tall stature, it isn't something you can store away in the cupboard. But as sleek and futuristic as it looks, I don't think I mind that a bit, as it is certainly an appliance worthy of displaying! I absolutely and heartily recommend the Oster Self-Cleaning Professional Juice Extractor to everyone!! Thanks Oster!!!

Juicers are really unique to me. It’s one of the few appliances that have been around for so long, with very little upgrades to show for it. Above all else, just know that the wheel isn’t being reinvented here. The packaging/unboxing portion of this is nothing special, the typical plastic wrap/styrofoam appliance packaging. Set up was pretty easy and I was able to navigate really easily without using instructions. Out of the packaging I decided to clean the machine first. As a reminder, this is my first juicer, so I don’t know what the rest of you have experienced, but I will say that in my opinion, the “self cleaning” portion of this is a joke. You pour water into the food chute presser, turn the dial to the left to clean, and press down on the food chute presser. Within about 20-30 seconds, all the water comes out of the juice/liquid dispenser and you’re done. Kind of. Onto the juicing, which is the real meat and potatoes here. Or fruit and vegetables for a better comparison. The juicer itself is fine? I’ve juiced apples, oranges, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries. cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, kale, spinach, carrots, celery, and some other stuff I’m probably forgetting. What’s very obvious from the start is that this works REALLY well on juicing already juicy items like oranges, apples, melons, and celery, but besides that, it extracts nearly nothing from the rest of the food. I literally put in an entire basket of kale and maybe got 2oz out of it. Same with blueberries for example, an entire pint maybe netted me a few oz. at that rate, you’re eating A TON of food that you may as well eat. Anything not juiced aka the pulp, gets auto separated into the attached food bin, but what I find is that I’ve normally ended up with 3x more pulp in the bin then juice in my cup, again, a big waste. The flavor is great for everything I’ve made, which has nearly nothing to do with the juicer but just know, you’re making the flavor here, not the machine. Post juicing, there is pulp EVERYWHERE in the machine, so be prepared to clean pretty thoroughly even before putting this in the dishwasher. Between the bin, cleaning the chute, the grater, the dispenser, and lid, there’s plenty of nooks and crannies that get food stuck in them to clean out. A con of juicing too, which has little to do with this juicer is that most fiber in juice comes from skin and pulp. By using this, you’re largely going to be making sugary drinks with very little fiber, which is really great to help process the sugar you’re drinking. An easy work around is to drop in some flax or chia seed in your drink after using this machine to get that fiber back. In a related note, I wish they would’ve just given you an option for a pulpier drink, instead of everything having to be the same thin texture. The machine does have two grinding options, one for softer food, and one for tougher food. The major problem being that the instructions give no detail on what foods are considered soft/tough, so your guess is as good as mine. Also, I tried juicing the same item with either setting and found 0 difference in how much juice was produced or the texture. The “large” food chute is fine too. I’d certainly not call it large, but sized as expected. I cut all my apples and oranges in half for example. In closing, I’m not wanting to talk negatively about the machine, but there’s just plenty of time and head scratching talking points that go into this. I’ve used it weekly to mass produce about 100oz of juice that I then drink about 20oz a day. Besides going that route, I can’t imagine using this because it wouldn’t be used for ease or time unless you’re making a large quantity. I can’t fathom using this and cleaning it daily. In closing, it’s fine. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it’s functional, but time consuming. Hopefully this helps with your decision making.

I have always wanted a juicer. The idea of making my own juices intrigued me. I have been leary because I have heard so many stories about how difficult they were to clean. When I saw that this juicer was self-cleaning, I decided to give it a try. I was impressed with the packaging. So often larger items like this are difficult to get out of the box. I didn't have that probkem with this juicer. They have a plastic strap that goes under the product. You just pull the straps up and the juicer comes right out. It was a little difficult to figure out how to open the juicer up. It seemed to take a good amount of force to open it. I was afraid that I'd break it. For my first try at juicing I decided to make a juice with strawberries, kale and a few other ingredients. The first thing I noticed was how much of the ingredients wound up on the top of the inside of the plastic cover. What a waste. It seemed to power through the kale ok. When I was done, I utilized the self clean option. I was surprised that it mainly just cleaned the blades. I still had to disassemble the unit to clean it. There were a lot of nooks and crannies. Overall, it seemed to do an ok job, except for the large amount of ingredients stuck to the top. It was a lot to clean as well. If juicing is your thing, this would probably be a great juicer for you. I'll stick to my two super blenders,

My girlfriend and I are very conscious about healthy eating. I hear a lot about the advantage and disadvantages of juicing and here is my quick note about that. Although you lose some of the nutrients, you don’t lose all of it as some articles on the internet might make you believe. Also, juicing helps you eat - or drink for that matter - more vegies and fruits. In the end, you might end up eating healthier than not using a juicer. And if you really want to use the leftover pulp, there are a lot of recipes out there to take advantage of it. That’s exactly what we do. I won’t even talk about the advantages of having fresh juice as opposed to what you get in grocery stores. Powerful and fast. Still very quiet. It did throw up some chunks of an apple. Probably because it wasn’t peeled, so I am assuming it was operator mistake but overall it was very efficient. Beets, carrots, apple and ginger together made a great juice in just over a minute. Less would have taken just seconds. The froth separator kept the foam out of the drink unlike some other juice extractors. After paying attention to the instructions – I tend to skip them – we were delighted to see how nice the self-cleaning filter is. No, it doesn’t clean the whole machine yet but it did a great job cleaning the most difficult part. The only con is that although the stainless steel body is very nice and sturdy, the container where the juice is extracted to could be better constructed. It feels cheap in comparison to the rest of the juicer. But overall, it is a very nice machine. We are very happy about it and I can see us using it all the time. Great job, Oster!

I’ve used my old juicer for over 10 years. It’s worked great and we’ve enjoyed great healthy beverages with it. The problem, and the reason I have not used my old juicer more, is it’s such a hassle to clean its filter screen after each use, especially with apples. I’d have to SCRUB it with its included brush, it took forever to get the little apple pieces out of the cutting edges. Sometimes I’d just think it wasn’t worth it. That’s why I was so excited to find this Oster juicer which stated it would clean the filter itself automatically! I couldn’t wait to try it. After juicing all the apples, I followed the instructions, loaded up the food pusher with water, and in just 25 seconds the filter was totally clean. ALL the apple remnants were flushed away. I loved it. I then disassembled the juicer, put the parts in the upper basket of my dishwasher, and I was finished. I’ll give you one caveat if you buy it. When using the ‘auto clean technology’ feature, make SURE that you put the pitcher back in place to collect the water used in cleaning. The instructions did not mention it, I guess I should have figured all that water would have to go somewhere, duh, after my first use I had to use half a roll of paper towels to wipe up the water. You probably would not have made that mistake, but I wanted to warn you anyway. Bottom line, the juicer is really well made, the powerful motor is strong enough to juice the toughest vegetables and fruits, and the self-cleaning filter makes it a strong buy if you’re thinking about purchasing a juicer for your house.

I'm just getting into juicing thanks to a friend and a desire to start eating healthier. I was in the market for one and a friend had recommended this brand because she's had hers for a while and never had any trouble with it. I chose this item because it said "self cleaning" all over it and who doesnt like the sound of that?! I would consider myself a novice juicer. I kept it pretty simple with an orange, apple, strawberries and a cucumber. It was pretty impressive to watch, and it pretty fast. This machine really squeezes every drop of juice out of the fruits, the pulp that was left over looked very dry. But after all the fun was over, the cleaning had to begin. The "self cleaninig" part of the machine is only the filter, but I found it still needed a wipe down. The rest of the machine needed to be taken apart and cleaned just as any other juicer would need to be cleaned. I assume the conveniece of the "self cleaning" feature would most be for times when you would be juicing for larger quantities than for one person. Then the filter would clean itself if it got clogged. But it definitely still needs to be cleaned as any other machine after each use. Overall I would definitely recommend this juicer to anyone in the market for a juicer. It is a nice looking appliance to leave on the counter and Oster has a pretty good reputation for kitchen appliances!

I have enjoyed using my Oster Professional Juice Extractor. I typically make blended drinks in my heavy-duty blender, but could never use whole, real fruit before. Now with this Oster Juice Extractor I can buy real fruity and vegetables and "blend" the whole thing together, but get the natural real juice for healthier drinks. I especially like being able to juice vegetables for a "non-sweet" drink. I really like making the mock-V8 juice whose recipe came with the machine, but I spice it up a bit! The Oster Juicer really is "self-cleaning". I doubted this from reading the manual and box info, but it truly does work. Saves so much time on the cleanup after juicing ... wonderful feature! I was surprised to find that I was able to get so much juice out of a vegetable, like a carrot. I know you've seen it on TV before, but doing it "live" yourself, makes you a believer! The large size jar (5 cups) allows you to make a drink for now, and a refill for later without having to re-juice. The Oster is very powerful with a 1000 watt motor. Easily broken down anything I put through the chute. This is a WINNER in my book! So glad I got this machine. THANKS OSTER!!

I've had this juicer for a while now and waited to give my review. I love it. Some juicers allow pulp to pass through into the cup, but this juicer has none! The pulp comes out super dry on the other side. I've tried apples, carrots, kale, pineapples, and oranges so far. Tasty and healthy. Please get one of these. Also it's a nice looking machine. The self clean is cool but a feature I really don't need. I like the size of the chute. The other juicer I have the chute is smaller and you have to cut the fruit into smaller pieces but with this one more can get through.

We love this juicer - upon reading through the included manual we realized just how easy it would be to use it! We have two young children and this is amazing to make juice for them and not have to spend more on store juice. Easy to use and delicious results!

Darn it! I bought this one specifically for the self cleaning option. First time pulling it out of the box, first time trying to juice I follow the instructions and let it run 10 seconds before I started putting my food in and the motor started smelling. I continued with my soft stuff first on first setting, but it did not get better it got worse smoke started coming out the smell was worse and I wasted a bunch of organic food. Taking it back, hopefully this one's just a dud and I'm going to try a second one. I really really want this to work out so I'm going to give it a second chance. :-)
