I bought this to connect to an antenna so I can receive local channels with my Sling subscription. It’s a little pricey but works well for the channels you get over the antenna. It was a little difficult to. Figure it out but I eventually did it. I had to connect an external drive to recorded the local channels. Advice: Use the Sling app on your phone and in the settings connect to the AirTV box and set it up that way.

This works great. It streams live tv for free and it combines the live tv channels with my sling channels into a single menu. It saves me money because streaming services that include live local channels (Hulu live, youtube tv, etc) are more expensive than my sling subscription. I do have several complaints. You can setup the device to stream channels to a sling account or an airtv account but NOT both. Also the DVR function only works in the sling app and not the airtv app. The function to combine live channels with my sling channels only works on certain devices. It works on my iphone sling app but not my Macbook web browser. It works on my Roku sling app but not on my new QLED Samsung tv sling app. It works on the Amazon fire tv sling app but not my new 4k apple tv sling app. So all these devices have a sling app but only the sling app on certain devices will combine live channels with sling channels. I wish this was listed somewhere instead of me having to contact customer support to get it figured out.

As a family of 3. There is a regular struggle with being able to record and watch enough shows at the same time with the boxes limitations. That, however, isn’t the only limitation(s). 1) 802.11n is an extremely old Wi-Fi standard that was created back in 2009. This needs to be at *LEAST* updated to the newer 802.11ac (created in 2014, which is what nearly every electronic on the market is made with these days) or 802.11ax (the latest and greatest of 2019). I believe this to be at least one of the causes of my Wi-Fi issues, given that my internet speeds are 250 MBPS download and 13 MBPS upload, I shouldn’t be seeing pinwheel loading pauses during my shows. In fact, the loading pauses were so bad that I had to hardwire it, which did help quite a bit. 2) Errors. Random errors seem to occur for no particular reason. Listed are some of the ones I have seen lately: - Ensure that your antenna is plugged in (restarted the AirTV and it was detected again) - Your hard drive has been ejected (restarted the AirTV and it was detected again) - Lost connection to the internet, please check your modem (restarted the AirTV and it was connected again, though i’m not sure how it lost connection to a hardwired cable) - AirTV is already in use (restarted and it was good to go, this one was even stranger given that it was 10 AM, everyone in the house was still asleep and nothing was even being recorded) I never used to have to unplug and reconnect my Xfinity box when I was paying Comcast for TV. However, it seems like if I don’t regularly restart my AirTV it spits back all sorts of strange errors like the ones above. Even when I do restart the box daily, I still sometimes need to restart it again. 3) No AirTV integration to the Windows 10 Sling app or the Sling browser. Basically, you currently do not get OTA (Over The Air) channels on a computer. 4) If you try to connect multiple antennas with a combiner it only seems to pick up from 1 antenna or another. I couldn't for the life of me get it to detect channels from multiple directions using multiple antennas. That being said I currently stick with 1 antenna. –Disclaimer: All of the feedback above is provided with experience using the Sling Roku app, iOS Sling app, Windows 10 Sling app and the Sling website on Google Chrome–

I bought this mainly for the DVR function. Initially I had difficulties setting up a usb drive. I tried a couple of old usb 2.0 hardrives I had laying around. I couldn’t get either to format with the Air TV. I finally tried an new usb 3.0 drive and it formats and works flawlessly. It is easy to set up recordings and I like that I can do this up to seven days in the future. Also nice to set up recording from the Sling app on my phone, even when I’m not at home. The tuner on the Air TV seems to be adequate as it picks up all the channels it should. I’ve had no dropouts or pixelation. An added benefit of the Air TV is that it has saved me from two awkward cable runs to my bedroom and the garage. Also, my son who lives in another state, is able to access my antenna through the Sling app and is able to watch football which is out of market for him.

The product does what it is supposed to. In today's over-saturated market of tech things that are supposed to work and don't work or do a half-assed job of it, this one isn't one of those. The huge downside of the product is the setup which requires a tablet/phone to setup and lack of software on PC platforms. I don't understand how companies can ignore a multi billion user base when they are delivering a product to the market. Yes you can technically setup your machine to run Android apps but why not at least setup an installer to do this. For the average user this is too complicated. The 2nd huge miss is that I can't seem to find AirTV on Roku for some reason. It was there and now its gone, I assume it has something to do with sling - talk about ridiculous. Now I can only run AirTV on a Shield device or run it from a tablet/phone. Maybe next time they'll get it right

I started slingTV. would be a great plan if just included ABC and CBS. Where I am located NBC streams with my regular Sling plan as well as Fox. I hook up the AirTV and setup if fairly easy. Integrates ABC and CBS into my Sling app w/ my other channels, locals were at top Issues 1) NBC in my area is poor reception. The AirTV over-rides NBC streaming so am stuck with NBC cutting out if I want to see ABC or CBS within the same app. 2) Does not work on PC's or Samsung TV's, app integration works with Roku's mobile apps etc. I assume will change in future. I chatted w/ Tech support on this, the support rep at Sling was clueless that I have NBC streaming already available on my sling subscription routinely. Kept saying only way I have it is with Airtv app. Wouldn't even look to see if an option to over-ride OTA and use NBC with Streaming. Sling just trying to save money not giving my a streaming channel that I pay for . So irritated with the Support repn not transferring my after I asked for it that I just cancelled the sling service. Terrible implementation if you can not continue to use streaming on channels you pay for when they do not receive will with OTA. Dish/sling customer service was terrible.

Not very pleased with this product because the instructions are not clear on how to set the channels for recording. Had to take the external drive out and plug it in to my laptop to watch what was recorded on the drive. Also had to download a special player because my new win 10 programs wouldn't work.

Took several tries to setup. Kept disconnecting. I have no issues with any other devices I have connected to my wi-fi. When finally set up, would receive multiple errors when trying to watch channels. My antenna works fine when connected to my tv. Received continuous pop ups stating hard drive was disconnected and reconnected as well as channel line up has changed. Returning this to the store.

Extremely easy to set up. Superb Signal image and quality. Almost zero buffering. Works even on cellular network out of home on my devices. I have it on My Roku, Fire TV stick, iPad, Android phone. You do not have to be sling customer to use it. This product is amazing. DVR woks very well. I am very much impressed. I used Tablo before I bought this, but this is way better in signal quality, buffering, setup and performance.

The things I do like are that I can view my local channels on other device with the need for multiple antennas and that you can record local channels. However, I get constant messages that the flash drive is removed then immediately inserted and I’m not even home. It interferes with the shows I’m watching. I have reset the device and it still does the same thing. I wish you could watch local channels on a computer as well.

As of 3-15-2019 the DVR function is ONLY supported if you use sling, which I find misleading when looking at the product information on their website. I have sling and was/am very disappointed with integration into sling. I set it up for my parents couple months ago after they were confused with using PLEX for local OTA channels and Sling for 'cable' channels, and the airtv box was supposed to solve everything with local OTA & 'cable' channels within sling app on Roku. Recently, I asked if they wanted to go back to PLEX for local OTA and sling for 'cable' and they said 'YES, PLEASE!!! The airtv thing is REALLY annoying especially when recording local news broadcast and PLEX provides so much information and just works better'. So I got the point and removed from Sling integration and was going to trying with the airtv app. The hardware works for tuning, but the DVR function does not work through their app. I just called airtv.net and a representative said, 'the DVR functionality is only available through sling integration'. I asked when for airtv app, and he said 'it is priority and is coming'. Asking when, 'he said there is no timeline'. I asked if it could be tomorrow or a year from now and he said again 'no timeline'. So Great Concept, but not useful at ALL for me today considering I'm all in on PLEX with HDHomeRun Extend Tuners.

Purchased this to be able to stream my antenna home and away- does a great job with an easy interface. The biggest problem is the app support for Roku is Sling TV and Airtv app for others. The two apps do not play nice and you have to pick one which limits device support.

Does what it needs to most of the time. Occasionally it doesn't work with all channels, but restarting the AirTV or Roku usually fixes the problem. So it may just be a Roku issue. If updates become available in the future, this may take care of it.

It's great to be able to record OTA shows (added a hard drive) - and can even watch TV from my cell phone. Loving it so far. Some minor issues with forward and rewind, but nothing major.

In my quest to eliminate Direvtv and save $, this integrated perfectly. One OTA box to serve 5 tvs and several mobile devices. Perfect.

I've been a Sling user since the beginning of 2019. I took a look at the AirTV OTA DVR and Streaming Player to add local over the air channels to all my devices with the Sling app installed, after attaching an antenna. I can watch my favorite shows even away from home. There is a delay when switching from a Sling channel to local because the player disconnects. The player itself does not have a DVR but contains a USB port to connect an external drive. However, the drive must be no bigger than 2 TB. Great purchase for the convenience.

The air tv is great for local channels. And it work off your WiFi. And controls more than one tv.

Setup was a breeze. Sling integration and Live TV DVR are great even with having to bring your own hard-drive. Could be 5 stars if the stand-alone AirTV app was near as good as the Sling integration. I don't understand why there isn't an option to use both Sling and AirTV apps simultaneously, or the lack of DVR functionality without Sling integration. As a way to integrate live TV into your Sling experience and DVR for locals this device is perfect.

The box was not bad it is a good idea for a streaming service but singtv is horrible half the channels can not pause, fast forward or rewind and some of them you can't even dvr. I recommend the ota dvr as it's not bad just don't like slingtv.

Just hook up antenna and download sling app and pick local channels you want any it puts them on your guide list with other channels. You can add an external hard drive and dvr locals. I have not had to many issues with dvr. Some people have. All in all good deal. You can also watch your recordings on your cell phone with app.
