Great for iPhone mini - less so for iPhone Pro Max

Locks firmly on the phone and my Apple AirPods Pro. I got a second for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I am having problems. Paired with a Speck - Presidio Perfect-Clear with MagSafe Hard Shell Case the phone doesn't "lock" well. I can feel the tug of the magnets, but when I remove my hand it needs to be perfectly lined up or the phone just slides off. Similarly, if you even bump the table, the phone will fall off again.
