Fits my S8+ like a glove and seems pretty drop proof. It better be because the case material is a slippery hard plastic that makes one handed operation difficult and annoying. I would think that while protection is important in a case, prevention of the need of that protection should be the first priority. Also it is so obvious, I have to wonder if they use their own product? For the money there are just as good protective cases that you are far less likely to drop due to a poor grip. If you don't believe me please at least stick your phone it and give it a good feel first. I am sure the lack of texture is nice to not get it to snag in your pocket but personally I think that is the biggest issue with this case. I think a lanyard hole would be smart at the very least for those tricky pictures from high places or over water.

Unit is fine for every day commuting, but if you drop it while it's on a Samsung Galaxy S8+(curved screen), the screen will not last. Happened to my 8 day old phone. $199 to replace phone because they can't replace the glass.

This case will not survive a drop from four feet off the ground my s8 plus has a nasty running crack and it looks so ugly now. Thanks Otter Box RIP to my baby!

Over the years I have bought at least a dozen Otter Box cases for my family and have never had a problem until now. On a minor drop from a seated height the case cracked in half! I've included a picture and you can see that the outer hard shell totally failed. It was a corner impact, and the phone actually only suffered a corner dent and a 1/4" chip from the corner of the screen, but the hard outer case broke right off. Definitely not what I expected from Otter Box. :(

Previous experience with OtterBox protecting our phones convinced us to stay with a winner for our new phones. Was not disappointed. Easy to put on, fit perfectly with no loss to phone functionality, and protects the phone.

Great experience with OtterBox for my last phone. No reason to change to a cheaper copy cat. Easy to install, fit like a glove, and doesn't interfere with any of the phone's functional features.

I love the color. The phone fits great in it. There is easy access to the ports. I feel my phone is safe. Got it on sale for 1/2 price...great deal.

1st OtterBox purchase for my wife's 1st android phone. Awesome color, material and fit. Firm and lightweight. NO screen protector included.

One of the questions asked while writing this review was if I had read previous reviews on the product. I hadn't. I simply went into my local store and pulled 4 or 5 different cases off the shelf and just started seeing which one I liked the best. There was this an another Otterbox (Defender I think it was) plus a few other brands. I liked this case the best for a couple different reasons. With past cases on different phones, there was no plug protection, meaning the charge and headphone jacks. This one has both. The other Otterbox I tested seemed to cover more of the edge of the phone. On the S8+, the display goes all the way to the edge, even curving around it a little bit. The Commuter case lets me see and more importantly use, the very edge of the display. The phone's buttons are all covered by the case. But they are raised for tactile feel, plus thin enough that the buttons are still easy to press, even holding the phone in one hand. One the back is a cutout for the camera, flash and fingerprint sensor. A nice touch is that it's still easy to use the sensor even if holding the phone in the left hand as the case slims down on the left side as it approaches the sensor. On the front side, the top and bottom of the case is raised to protect the screen, while the sides, as previously mentioned, are sloped away to let the full edge display be available. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the case.

good fit and great design that gives good protection

Have been using the Defender sires for a long time. Nothing ever happened to my phones and I treat them rough including dropping them. The case is bulky so they are a tight fit and hard to push into your pants pocket. (a small trade-off for the protection.) Wish they came equipped with a screen cover as in the past.

I had my Note 4 protected with an OtterBox and never had an issue even though I dropped the phone a couple times. I saw no reason to change to another manufacturer to protect my S8+. Looks good, feels good, easy to install and no problem with the functionality of the phone.

First of all i have always been a fan of the commuter series because unlike the defender series it's less bulky but still offers good protection. I have used this series on different phones like the s7 and iphone 6s plus and it never failed me. I bought this case the day i got my Galaxy S8+ and have dropped it a couple of times on various surfaces like concrete and the store floor. At first i was worried to see a cracked screen but when i picked it up it was good as new. If i didn't have this case my phone would have been ruined. If you're looking for a heavy duty case that is guaranteed to protect your phone get the defender series. If you want a light weight slim case get the symmetry series. If you're looking for good protection but still slim get this case.

I've been buying Otterbox cases for years. This one isn't very bulky, and Otterbox protection is phenomenal. I've dropped my phone once since I've had this case, and everything still looks like new. Highly recommended

I like my new case and since I have dropped my new phone several times it has definitely done it's job. I didn't like there were lack of color options to choose from or that I needed to pay for a separate screen protector since they are not built into the case for this phone.

This Commuter case is great for my phone. The case does not make my phone look or feel bulky. It fit easily in my pockets and it protect my phone from drops. Great product works well. I will not get any other case.

I have had the OtterBox for other phone and been very pleased. This one is no different very happy with the product. Easy to get on and off the phone. I feel it is very safe.

There really is no better case than otter box and this one is great. I've had it on every phone and never had a cracked screen or any issues. I love the purple and pink too!

This case provides good protection for my S8+ with Zagg glass screen protector. It is a little bulkier than I would like, but is the only case I have tried that has enough "lip" to keep the glass screen protector from touching the surface when laying it face down, and that is also easy to put on the phone and easy to remove. I did try a Speck Presidio Grip case initially, and it has enough lip but was hard to put on the phone and even harder to remove. So I returned it and bought the Otterbox Commuter.
