If you just wanna keep your phone from dust, miner level to medium level bumps and bruises...then go ahead and buy a lighter to medium priced cover/ protector. On the other hand...if you have invested $300- $1100 for a smartphone... then, what are you thinking about it for?...Huh? Well, think no longer! Anything other than *"THE"* "OTTERBOX" Would be obsurd! It is the best fitting, the best for protection against high impact drops, bumps and bruises! So, do yourself a favor...get yourself a "A real for deal Holyfeild!" Get the "OTTER BOX!" I PROMISE WHEN U. YOU SEE AND FEEL WHY IM SAYING WHAT IM SAYING IN THIS REVIEW...WHAT AND WHY IM SAYING IT! Otter box cases are the best cases made, and they stand by their products woth their warranty

This case protects my phone. It has enough of a lip for when I set it down face down it protects the screen. My last OtterBox came with the built in screen protector so bummed this new one doesnt have it. Only bad part is all the dust that collects around the edges.

It has been the strongest case ive used . I bang up against things all day.

I have bought other cases in the past. I prefer the Defender case, because of it's durability and quality.

It has added layers of protection, and it looks good too. The functionality is great as well.

It's a strong and durable protector for the Samsung and I love it!

I got this good case, because I kept my note 8, just in case something happen with my note 9.

From the unpacking, you can see the quality of the product. Is a sturdy case that enables 3 layers of shields that truly protect your phone. Before me, a customer in a Best Buy store just aquired one; he put his cell phone inside the case, throw it in the air and let it slam on the store floor to see, "If it really works". A truly brave proof but it worked; nothing happened to his new Galaxy Note 8. There are a few disadvantages, though: - Doesn't have the built in screen protector. You have to purchase one. Otter recommends the Alpha Glass, which will pair perfectly with your Defender. Problem solved. - Doesn't let you charge your phone on the wireless charging pad, but, Otter Customer Service says that, "the Defender is compatible with all Samsung wireless charging stands that are in the flat configuration. As long as they are horizontal, the case should not hinder the wireless charging feature in any way". Problem solved. - In order to plug the wired charger and or your earphones, you have to lift a little flap at the lower bottom of the frame. Nothing bad with it, with the exception of loosen it up to the point that may be detached. I am planning to make use of the warranty in this happens. Problem solved. - Removing the case is a bit of a pain in the butt. If it is a bit, I would consider it, problem solved. After conidering all this, I decided to buy it, beacuse you are taking a $1000 device with you everywhere and has to be protected. This is what the Defender does; and does it very well.

I have had my OtterBox for a little over a month and it has held up well. I am a contractor, so my phone takes some abuse and is in pretty rough environments. Its taken a few falls and protected my phone well. The only downside I've found is that I can't plug my square reader into the headphone jack. I haven't tried it, but it looks like they did leave plenty of space for regular jacks. I may see if I can find a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm extension for that purpose. Overall I've been very happy. I've had other OtterBox cases that were very bulky and a lot more expensive. They got this one pretty slim and the price down. I also appreciate that I can easily stick it in my pocket without taking the case off if I'm dressing up to go out. I had to take it off my note 3 to do that.

I just upgrade from a Note5 to the Note8. I had an Otter Box with the Note5. When turning in the 5 the sales rep mention how good shape it was in. That was due to living its life in the Otter Box. I bought a less expensive case for the 8. It wasn't comfortable; it took two hands to get it out of the holder; part of the clip broke off in less than a month. I appreciated the fact I could remove the 5 from the holder with one hand. Missed that feature. Reviewers have complained this case does not have a protective screen built-in. I believe that it might be due to the curve of the screen. I don't find this to be a problem. This case gives easier access to the pen. The covers to the earphone jack and USB-c jack are a bit hard to open, however, I think they will loosen over time.

I always purchase an Otterbox for my phones because I trust the protection. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because the Defender series no longer provides the screen protector and therefore my screen is not as safe in the case as I would like. Not really the fault of Otterbox as it is an issue of the Samsung design, but I wish Otterbox would find a solution to continue to provide that protection. Because of this I had to purchase a glass screen protector (only type available on the market currently).

Bought this for my new Galaxy Note 8 that I got as a work phone. Extremely easy to place on phone and has already saved my phone a few times. Only draw back is if you are using a Samsung charging pad the phone has to be placed exactly in the right spot or take the rubber off of the case to charge properly.

Nice case. It's nice to have a case that isn't bulky like a lot of the Otterbox products and it also comes with a belt clip. In the past Otterbox cases that came with a belt clip were bulky. A little concerned about the fact that it has less side protection but I understand why because of the need to access the curved screen option on the phone. I would definitely recommend getting a curved glass screen protector for the phone because of the lower amount of side protection. Lastly seeing as how these phones are water resistant I don't understand the need for the covers over the charging and headphone ports other than to keep out dust. I find it is a bit awkward and annoying trying to access these ports but it isn't a deal breaker. Worst comes to worst I can cut the covers off to make it easier to access them like on many other cases on the market. That being said most of those cases don't offer a belt clip. Lastly I like the fact that the belt clip can be used as a stand for the phone. I would definitely purchase it again.

As far as I can tell, from my current usage, the only downside I've seen from this case is that, in addition to the already fairly large size of the Galaxy S8 Note, it will fit snuggly into most pockets, but if you like tight-fitting clothing, then it's probably not for you. However, a few things I can say is that the design on the case is spectacular, as it helps to make sure the screen of the phone does not touch most surfaces at most angles, unless you set the phone down on a corner (why would you do that?). Also, the button coverings for the volume, screen on/off, camera, and all ports, including the area where the stylus is installed, everything functional and does not press against buttons when you don't want it to, meaning it's not to tight, and the amount of access to the area where the stylus is installed is very generous and makes me want to use the stylus more because it's not hard to get to the stylus and it doesn't really block it in any way, and it has a stylus frame around that area in a way. As far as the durability of the whole case and how much it can take, I haven't thrown my 1k phone against a wall, so I wouldn't know its limits, but I know it minimizes a lot of stress to the phone, and can take a lot of stress and impact without damaging to the phone and screen considering its materials and how strong it feels in my hand. Plus, I'm pretty sure I hit my hand on my phone the other day somehow on the case area, and it really freaking hurt lol. Which means, my hand didn't do a darn thing to my phone, but the case kicked my face in lol. Also, it just looks really slick, and with a screen protector your phone is about as protected as its gonna get.

The case isn't too bulky considering what it does, and it has VERY good protection all around the phone with a raised front to prevent facedown fall damage. However, this Defender case, unlike the versions before it, does not have a shield in front to protect the screen. This is due to the sides on the phone screen having their natural "curve" design, and thus does not come with that usual shield that the others used to have. So instead you will need to opt for a separate "ZAGG" type screen shield instead. Still, this case gives you the best overall coverage you can get for this phone (I won't say it's the only one), but it's Otter Box quality, and it even comes with a holster clip that can double as a phone stand. Yes the clip does turn, but it is very hard (at least mine was), but as long as you turn it the correct way, don't be afraid, turn it!!

I've used OtterBoxes for the last several phones and I've been very satisfied with all of them. This one is no exception. I haven't dropped this phone, but a few weeks before I got this phone my last one one flew off the dash of my friend's Jeep and out into traffic on US 31, sliding across two lanes and survived. I still can't believe no one ran over it, but the case didn't have a scratch on it and the phone still works perfectly, so that was a pretty big selling point to buy one for my new Note 8! I love the color too! The only drawback I've had is that they really don't work well with the wireless chargers, but that doesn't bother me so it's not really a negative.

The case feels good in the hand and very protective. It fits the phone snuggly and doesn't feel bulky. Very well constructed. It definitively will protect the phone when dropped.

Overall I like the low profile fit and comfort. Grip is good as well. Only complaint is no screen protector on this one. Has survived multiple drops and no damage has occurred.

I HAVE ALWAYS USED OTTER BOX CASES IN THE PAST. SO, WHEN I PURCHASED THE SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8, OTTER BOX WAS MY FIRST CHOICE. I LIKE CASE WITH HOLSTER. WHEN THE CASE IS IN THE HOLSTER, IT DOES NO FEEL SECURE, IT JIGGLES A BIT. THIS CASE DOES NOT HAVE A BUILT IN SCREEN PROTECTOR, WHICH IS DISAPPOINTING. SO I HAD TO PURCHASE A SEPERATE SCREEN PROTECTOR. ALSO BE AWARE THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE CAREFUL IF YOU USE THE WIRELESS CHARGES. THE PHONE WITH THE CASE ON DOES NOT ALWAYS CHARGE. YOU HAVE TO PLACE THE CASE IN THE CORRECT POSITION SO IT WILL CHARGE, IT A PAIN. BUT OVER ALL IT PROTECTS THE PHONE VERY WELL.
