I picked this up because I have two kids....Enough said...right?? The phone has a crack in the back where the case does NOT protect the phone. @@@@@@@@ The very small area between the camera and the flash. I am sure the odds of the phone hitting there are SLIM--But I managed to do it. @@@@@@@ Otherwise, a fantastic case. The case does allow some dirt and debris behind the screen protector and the glass face. Overall---a great buy!!

Purchases for Samsung Galaxy S7 -- the defender series is bulky, but I don't have any hesitation that it will protect my phone from inadvertent drops. This is my 3rd Defender case for the Samsung phones and each one has looked pristine at the end of my 2 years when I go to sell my old phone when I get the upgrade. I don't use the clip since I think it looks dorky, but I tried it out and it's easy to get the phone in and out but when it's in the holster, it's solidly in there. Highly recommend, if you can deal with the bulk of it. Only minor issue is that where the button is at the bottom of the phone is a port for dust to slide under the housing. I have to open the case up every couple of weeks when I get annoyed enough at the looking at the dust. Otherwise it's great.

My last Otterbox saved my previous phone numerous times including a multiple corner cartwheel across a gas station parking lot. I have confidence that this one will also save my phone when clumsiness occurs. The only frustration I have is the membrane over the home button. Most of the time, the fingerprint reader does NOT work. It is irritating to have to type a pin almost every time. I'm considering cutting the membrane out to see if the fingerprint reader works without it. Of course this will void any warranty and probably allow dirt into the case. Won't effect structural strength tho so I might go for it.

Im a automotive technician and have dropped and flung my phone SEVERAL times when at work onto the hard shop flooring, off the lift (as high as 8 feet up when using it as a flashlight and it fell through engine bay and on floor) and my phone remains working and undamaged! A bit tight to 1st install on phone but worth it. Will not keep water out but will keep most dirt and dust out. Texture helps you grip your phone easier and while it will make phone thicker its still not too bulky. I can still hold it comfortably and securely with 1 hand. Price is worth it considering how expensive the phone its protecting it. Cheap case = so so protection. I didnt need any active cases as my phone is already water resistant but for shocks and drops its a happy mid point for cases.

The OtterBox Defender Series Case provides multiple layers of protection: Outer layer absorbs impact from drops and bumps. Two-piece internal shell snaps around your phone while foam pads add cushioning. Built-in screen protector guards against scratches and smudges. Rubber tabs block dust and dirt from entering the charging port, headphone jack and volume controlsIncluded holster/belt stand offers even more screen protection for when you're on the go. This OtterBox case is as functional as it is rugged. You maintain full access to features and controls, including buttons, microphone, camera and flash. Bought this case at the same time I did my new S7, and it hasn't been out of it since, except for the very occasional cleaning. Have always used Otterbox Defenders on all my phones, and this is the best one yet! I love the new extra foam padding around the frame of the screen protector.

I have used Defender cases on my last 3 Galaxy phones. I have dropped them many times, accidentally thrown them across the room, etc --> it has always provided great protection. To be fair, I'm not slamming them down nor am I dropping them from great heights, but for any regular person, this case should protect very well. My only "complaint" is that it's bulky, but that's what adds to the protection. My understanding is that the "Commuter" cases are more for looks, less for protection. The rubber on my first case for the S3 began to get too soft and loose. The S5 case kept it's shape for the full 2 years I used it. The newest one on the S7 has worked well so far. The only other thing is that dust and debris get through the little holes for the home button and ear piece very easily. I have to take the phone out every couple of weeks to wipe it down. Otherwise, it protects very well!

I have always trusted OtterBox products for my cell phones. I have seen other peoples phones after dropping them with other brand of cases and its never good. I have dropped my phones several times over the years and not once have I ever cracked a screen. Even after getting mad at some of my older phones because they were outdated and didn't work right and chunking them across the room into the wall the phones still didn't break. So that shows you how good these cases really are. I have never had any issues with sensitivity on the touch screen part. Its a little pain to have to take them apart when it gets any dirt or dust underneath the screen but a small price to pay for overall protection of your expensive phone. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because after about a month of use where the charger and headphone snaps are, the rubber cover starts to stretch at those points. This causes the rubber cover to get lose and eventually will split over time and it also starts to get where they wont stay snapped into place. At this point I just cut off the snaps because they get in the way when trying to snap the phone in my belt holster. You can also contact OtterBox's Customer Service and have them send you a new cover under the warranty and that process is a small pain as well but better than buying a new one.

While Commuter series is considered to be their "slimmer" version, Defender series adds some noticeable bulk with a full wrap around protection, but it's too bad. Either way, it's a price to pay for an ultimate protection - and that's exactly what you are going to get! Starting with an inner interlocking PC shell you have a built-in screen protector and also another thin layer of shock absorbent material inside of that shell. A built-in screen protector is film based and has a cutout for home button. The assembly of inner plastic case was a huge improvement over the previous Defender cases where tabs are a lot easier now to interlock and pull apart. On top of that, you have another silicone shock absorption layer placed over the PC shell. That piece adds another layer of shock protection and also significantly improves a grip. Also, you don't have to worry anymore about your phone sliding off the surface when placed face up. Of course, facing down you also have a considerable amount of front lip to keep it off the surface. Just keep in mind this is just a film screen protector where any direct impact will not protect your display. For that you will need a tempered glass protector, but with Defender you can only use a thin tempered glass to fit inside of the inner shell. Just like with a Commuter, Defender has micro usb and headphone ports covered and protected from any dirt and dust. Also, volume and power buttons are covered and have a nice tactile response when pressed. The rest of the ports have precise cutouts and perfect alignment. The only issue which still remains is micro-usb port opening being limited by plastic guards of the inner shell that allow only use of an average or narrow charging connectors. It's probably not going to be an issue for majority, but I do have to acknowledge that some micro-usb cables with a larger connector might not fit. Last but not least, Otterbox also comes with a belt-clip holster which allows you to carry your Defender case attached to the belt. Belt-clip holster will come especially handy when you spend a lot of time outdoors. The Defender case fits inside of the holster both face in and face out. Typically for extra protection you would want to keep it face in, but there is also an advantage to place it face out since a belt clip locks in open position and doubles as a kickstand to place your S6 in landscape orientation to watch a movie or to play a video, etc.
