    Nice product, but a serious flaw

    I really wanted to like this item -- the case is solid and well constructed, and there are even silicone rubber tabs on the case which protect the phone's ports (e.g., headphone jack) against moisture. However, the belt-clip holster is a different matter, and -- in my opinion -- has a fatal design flaw: I agree with other reviewers that the phone is not adequately and securely locked into the holster. I stopped using this item when -- while quietly eating dinner in a restaurant, I heard a faint clatter, and looked down to see that my new Galaxy S8 had -- for no apparent reason -- popped out of the holster, landing on a hard floor. (Had I not been paying attention, I might have even missed this completely!) Having read other reviews, I was very worried about this possibility and had taken great care to ensure that my phone was "locked in" to the holster. The problem is that the phone is held into the holster at two corners, and a tiny "claw" or "teeth" fit into a small, shallow "groove" to lock the phone in place. (See photo.) Two tiny plastic teeth engaging into a plastic groove (only about 0.5mm deep) is the *only* thing preventing your expensive phone from popping out, and -- as I found out -- it apparently takes almost no provocation to eject the phone. I'm not willing to wager my $600 phone against this chance, and instead I switched to a Turtleback leather holster which completely encloses the phone.

    Not worth buying at all !

    I used to think Otterbox was a good brand, but they really messed up with this case. I totally regret wasting money on it. When I needed the case to protect my phone from a fall, the case did not deliver. I accidentally let my phone fall with out having the holster on and my screen broke. I used an Otterbox case on my Lg G4 and it worked fine, but when it comes to the S8 the protection is totally different. Otterbox should really make sure their cases can actually protect the phone before claiming their cases have"certified drop protection".

    Holster Drops your brand new phone!!

    My first Otterbox and it was horrible. The case covered the phone fine but I use the holster quiet a bit including on bumpy bike rides through the city. It dropped my phone on the first day and several times thereafter!! I replaced it with a Platinum holster and case which works so much better. Dump this overprices useless piece of plastic...it will eventually break your phone!!

    The Defender case I was used to on my old phone protected the face of the screen and its edges.. This case allows the phone to rest on the screen if placed face down on a flat surface. It also allows the screen to be struck by glancing blows to the side. It is not a full protection cover. Knowing the glass curves to the edge, it would seem best not to allow that curve to be struck a direct blow. I am looking for a case that will cover the edges of the screen and offer more protection.

    Pros: fits great, offers great protection, seals the ports from dust & debris. Cons: VERY heavy, VERY large, you need the strength of the hulk to push the buttons. If the buttons were as easy to push as the spigen tough armour case and had a kickstand this would be perfect. Until that happens STAY AWAY if you value the feeling in your fingers.

    Nothing against Best Buy, but do not buy OTTERBOX. The rubber gets loose after a year. I contacted their customer service and I had to pay $6 for shipping and handling of a new case. EXCEPT, they only shipped the hard plastic and NOT the rubber. When I said they made a mistake, they said I had to pay $6 more dollars for them to ship the rubber. Do not buy. Looks like there's similar reviews

    Minimum protection

    I have owned Otterboxes in the past, and have never had a screen break due to their superior design. However the design of this case leaves the side of the phone and its curved beveled age at serious risk. The protection does not cover the perimeter of the phone, only the top half and bottom half leaving the edges vulnerable. Honestly I haven't' found one case yet that protects the S8 adequately.

    My Samsung S8 phone has dislodged from the belt clip 4x in the first week. 3 of the times I thought I had just lost my new $800 + phone. Not to mention, each time it dislodged from the belt clip it was falling to the floor. Lucky so far....very disappointed in Otterbox not coming up with an adequate protector for glass. I will have to look elsewhere for that, and secure phone clip/holster.

    Case that doesn't protect the screen

    I am not quite sure what the point is of a case that only protects the side and back, but leaves the rounded front screen unprotected to shatter when dropped and lands screen side down...yes, it protected the corner when it hit, but as soon as it dropped face down it shattered! Great case if it will only be dropped in a way that it doesn't fall screen side down :-(

    Nice look for the Samsung S8. I am very clumsy and drop my phone often and it prevents it from breaking as long as it doesn't fall on the front screen. However, I would recommend they put the clear cover on the front of the case to protect the screen. The corner of my screen cracked from dropping the phone.

    I bought this for a Galaxy S8. It came unclipped at the slightest bump passing my truck fender. Although it protected the phone, my 50 dollar zagg screen protector cracked. I have a Galaxy S5 with the same model, never has come unclipped from the holster, even when the holster has been pulled off of my pocket.

    Not compatible with the Galaxy S8

    I returned my new S8 to B.B. because of complaints from callers about my transmission (voice). The supervisor suggested I exchange the Otter Box for a Speck Presidio Grip and that appears to have resolved my issues. Somehow this Otter Box interferes with the speaker.

    My husband dropped his phone off the bathroom counter and not only did the hard plastic case crack straight through but the phone screen shattered too. It did get dropped on the corner but the rubber outer case, hard plastic inner case did nothing to protect the phone at all.

    Otterbox is NOT what it used to be!

    After 10 years of being an Otterbox user, I am extremely disappointed with the current product. Purchase a new cell phone in December, dropped my phone on Wednesday, and it shattered my screen. I think it's the impact of the case causing the failure.

    Again for the S8 this does not fit the edge of the screen. If this drops the screen is sticking out further then the box. Can't put a screen saver on because it peels up in corner because it does not fit together. Waist of money

    No where in the description does it say there is no protective screen for the front( glass front ) of the phone. So the face of the phone is not protected at all.

    Very difficult to remove once placed inside of holder, phone has tendency to come out if used with a protective seal around phone,, very unhappy with product..

    Never dropped it, I have no idea how it cracked But it was 5 days Old and it cracked all the way diagonally across the screen.
