The Owlet Cam 2 is a solid option for Baby Monitor. This was not my first Owlet product, so I have already set up an account and have the app installed on my phone. That being said, being WiFi a smart phone with the Owlet application is essential. There is no specific control monitor screen otherwise. This is the major set apart for the Owlet Cam 2. It is web enabled, so once set-up, transmits the video through WiFi versus having to have a separate monitor screen with you that communicates with the camera. This makes it so as long as my phone is on me in the house, I have the monitor with me. It is also enjoyable, as I’ve had to return to work and my wife is home with the baby. I have the luxury of peeking in even away from home. With the peek in, there is a microphone allowing me to speak. The video quality itself is advertised as HD. I do believe the quality appears HD, but on the lower resolution side of the HD spectrum. You are able to make out clearly everything in the screen. Quality will auto adjust, or be manually selected. Regardless, it is clear enough to see baby breathing and location of mouth/nose, which is my biggest concern with a monitor image. For my WiFi, overall delay appears to be between 2-3 seconds. There is a large camera angle included, showing a wide view of the room. I have the monitor placed at a 45 degree toward a wall and can see at about 90 degree off from midline. There is also a night-vision feature which is adequate when the lights are near off. The main display screen includes temperature and humidity. Which assists in important monitoring, as both are essential to a happy and well controlled environment for baby!
With monitoring, the app provides for background sound to be toggled on. This enables one to use the phone for other purposes while still having noise come through, allowing one to hear baby crying or upset while still utilizing one’s phone for other activities. Sound itself may be toggled on and off also, to allow for more subtle monitoring (or peeking in from away while busy). There is also sleep functions enabled within the app, including predictive sleep or pairing with other Owlet technology available at this time. Video clips may be collected.
The most difficult part of this camera is set up. Initially, looking at the base it appears one will need to use two nails/screw to mount but it is a two piece mount. The mount gets placed to the wall with one screw, then the camera attaches to the mount at two contact points (screw is included!) There is a cover included to place over wire (as camera is not chargeable, but plugged in to a USB-C adapter). Once plugged in pairing requires a QR code on phone to be scanned by camera, this was the difficult part… however, I eventually got it. I found leaving phone still and moving camera worked best. But overall, camera set-up (with mount) took less than 15 minutes, efficient, if slightly frustrating with the QR scan.
In summary this is a fantastic option for WiFi enabled baby monitoring. The app is clear and allows for setting changes which is always fabulous. I trust this camera to allow good visualization of my little one!

I bought this as a baby shower gift for my friend and she loves it! Relieves her stress of having to listen for crying when she can just watch the camera!

We have had connectivity issues from day one with this using the Eero mesh network. It constantly drops despite a strong signal and we have had to hard reset and reconnect almost weekly. Unreliable monitor is almost worthless. We have addressed the 2vs5ghz and read and troubleshoot both the network and the owlet device many times

This unit lasted just over a year. Which is pretty pathetic to be honest, and the warranty is a year as well.
It would randomly disconnect at least once every other month.
Now it won't even connect to the app and its HOT to the touch.

Does not work with mesh wifi systems. Only works with a dedicated 2.4ghz internet connection. I was hoping this camera would work and tried everything. I'd recommend going with the Nanit. It works great and comparable in price.
