If you're just beginning or are more advanced at photo editing, but don't want to pay the very high price for Photoshop CS6, PSP X6 Ultimate is a great alternative. It can be used on 32 or the powerful 64 bit systems. PSP X6 can handle RAW files, and HDR photos. As a bonus, Paintshop Pro X6 comes with Perfectly Clear image corrections and FaceFilter 3 Standard software for portrait enhancement. You'll love working with this software!

    Excellent Photo Editing!

This is a GREAT piece of software. If you are wanting to make basic or routine edits but would rather not trudge through the learning curve of weightier programs (such as Adobe), this is a great choice. At the same time, Paint Shop Pro X6 gives you extensive and advanced editing capabilities such as working with Layers, editing RAW files, enhanced Object Extractions, etc. I have always been interested in HDR photography, but never quite motivated enough (or smart enough?) to tackle the job ... Paint Shop Pro X6 has (finally) made this easy enough for people like me (relative enthusiasts) to create beautiful HDR photos. You can apply Graduated Photo Effects, Retro Lab and other Filter Effects to make quick and easy changes to your photos ... batch processing and a 64-Bit Engine. For this price, I don't think you can come close to the excellence of this product.

    Pretty good overall

I would call PaintShop Pro a good value even at full price, but I snagged it as a Deal of the Day for a steal, making it a great value for the price. Most tools are easy to use, and I was surprised at some of the edits I was able to make after the fact -- it was relatively easy to change a shape's outline and fill colors, for example. The one truly awful feature I've found so far is the gradient tool. I literally spent an hour trying to figure out how to apply the desired gradient effect to a shape. It is confusing beyond belief trying to figure out how the program applies the foreground and background colors when doing a gradient. By contrast, Photoshop's method for applying gradients is very straightforward. For anyone who might be interested in PaintShop Pro's color changer tool, I found it produced pretty good results with minimal effort. Again comparing to Photoshop, PaintShop Pro's tool works like a flood fill, whereas Photoshop's is more like an airbrush and frankly is a little bit better and easier to use. Bottom line -- although I find Photoshop better and easier to use (it seems strange to say that, as it used to have a rep for being very hard to use), when you compare prices then PaintShop Pro is the clear choice for its target market. (In case you're wondering, I use Photoshop at work and didn't have to pay for it. It would be well outside my budget for home use.)

For the price, it’s a powerful editor. Takes some learning but once you do it’s pretty easy to get things done. I still prefer photoshop but this is a more affordable option.

    Great software, difficult installation

Well, let me get this out of the way. To Corel's credit although the key code provide in the box wouldn't allow me to install the software they got back to me in a reasonable amount of time with a different keycode that worked. The software is great giving me the ability to enhance the photo's from any of my camera's. It also does a wonderful job in the image management area making the cataloging and retrieval of images easy. The software is easy to learn although like any image editor the amount of features and understanding the elements of each can be at times overwhelming. The pricing is extremely reasonable especially when you consider the value added items included with it.

Great photo editing software for beginners. The install was easy as was the updates. Navigating and using all the features were a breeze, especially for someone with no prior experience. I've only scratched the suface of what this software can really do and look forward to exploring all it's features.

Many photo edit and enhancing options

I have enjoyed using this software. There are lots of fun and easy to use tools that give the ability to create unique photographs or perfectly touch up portraits. I had to figure out how to use many of the options on my own. That was a bit frustrating. The software did not want to load easily and presented a small challenge. Still, I would buy this again because it performs the tasks that I have figured out beautifully.

This would be a great program if I could just have time to sit down and learn everything about it. Way easier to use than Adobe Photo Shop. It has go many great tools to use. My brother and sister-in-law loves this program too. She does so many amazing things with pictures, I would love to learn how to do.

    great intermediate software

It's a good program with lots and lots of features. It's very different from my old version; there IS a rather large learning curve. I'm still working out some of the finer things with this program; I seem to discover something new every time I go into it. It works great on the old family photos I'm restoring. I can blow the pictures up really big and make fine corrections so they're not noticeable in normal view.

    Quick, easy photo editing

I hadn't intended to get a newer version of this program, but I got this one through a Deal of the Day, and couldn't resist the affordable price. I was using version 3, so this one is a vast improvement. It has advanced features for more knowledgeable users, but is also very easy for beginner photo editing. I love the color fade correction tool, and the digital camera noise reduction tool. The more advanced color correction tools aren't as easy to use as a couple of other programs that I use, but they're fine for minor corrections. I don't like the clone tool very much, but I haven't taken the time to play with the adjustments on it. The default settings on the clone tool are too noticeable on the photo. Overall, I have been extremely pleased with the results, and the ease of use of this product.

If you edit photos (even casually) Paint Shop Pro is a great product and a worthy competitor to (and at much less cost than) Adobe Photoshop. This latest version (X6) adds a variety of new features to make editing photos even easier and more effective, but the best new feature that I've found (so far) is the addition of 64 bit support - finally! For users that are new to Paint Shop Pro, there is a bit of a learning curve, but the basic features are provided on a toolbar, so it's not to difficult to become proficient at a basic level with a little experimentation and use of the help system, which is pretty good. If you're already a long-time user of Paint Shop Pro, however (as I am), you'll find that the transition to the newer version pretty much effortless.

    Excellant photo editing software platform

Have been using Paint Shop since its early days as JASC before being bought by Corel. Each program upgrade has improved the platform. Recently put together a 42" X 50" montage of a special event that became the background to a large shadow box display. Very competitive with more expensive photo editing software costing hundreds more.

    Essentials for professional photo editing

I have used Corel software for years and I have always been a satisfied customer. Paint Shop Pro gives you all the tools necessary to produce high quality post process photographs. Compared to the other software on the market, Corel offers easy options such as one click fixes, or full custom controls for your editing needs. For a beginner/home user you have the opportunity to advance your skills through tutorials to better your photography. For advance users you have the full control with all the essentials for your artwork/business.

I bought it because I have the old version pro; I saw this one was a great price and more features than the other. If you don't know how to use it, you may take a while to learn from the download manual. After that, you will have fun to use it.

I started using Jasc/Corel in 2004 and decided to get back into Paintshop Pro. They have really improved the software since I last used it in 2008. I love that each feature is described in the learning center as I'm working. Just wish I had faster RAM to keep up with the software.

I am familiar with Corel i.e. up to 11. I wanted to work more on photography and graphics again like I use to. I didn't want a program with a one click fix all for things. I have yet to figure out how to stop auto camera backup though. There are instructions but really haven't read them yet. Right now I am moving the auto save pictures (the utility that saves/ backs up the original picture) to separate folders. I guess the auto save would be helpful if you plan on working with the same picture a few times but I prefer to edit and move on! Price was reasonable.

Every Upgrade since Corel bought it out has been less user friendly but this upgrade has some things that you can't live without. I especially liked the Face Fitter that came with it. It lets you make glamor shots with relatively little skill. I am just beginning to learn how to use it.... I even read the manual but don't tell anyone.
