A good surge protector is a must if you want to keep your electronic components protected from power surges. Regular strips won't do the job. This is my third one in 30 years. Wouldn't be without it.

You have 4 outlets always on, and others that can be turned off. The 1 plug in front is great for a vacuum cleaner, light, etc.

Nice looking piece of equipment to go with your home theater set-up. Lots of choices with the outlets, good for transformer-size plugs. Great peace of mind.

I use the two units as glorified power strips and they work fine for that. I have had zero issues using in this mode. What I would change: Get rid of all connections except power sockets so they could be spread out more to accommodate the wall wart type connections. Incorporate variable dimming control rather than step to match other components. Design in hard locks so that when voltage drops below "x" or increases above "x" the unit must be manually turned back on. Allow a full OFF switch to all outlets. Yes, I know that this would raise the price but I needed these functions as my APC unit died and I could not find and devices locally that would offered the above. Clerks had zero knowledge. I would recommend this for use IF you know what you need and what the limitations are.

This is my second unit for my house. Why not protect all of my equipment? Bought it on sale for a great price.

After making some serious upgrades to my sound system I felt it was also time to make upgrades to my systems protection. Did a lot of research but still had several questions on what was best for my needs. My thanks to Rod in the Magnolia dept of the Henrietta store for taking the time to answer my questions and explain the benefits of power management. I felt that the MR5100 model would suit my needs & give me peace of mind while protecting my components... plus I got it on sale! Looks cool too with sold build quality.
