Great Basic Blu Ray Player

I only have two small complaints: 1) the remote is tiny, which has been mentioned by others, but it is not a show stopper. 2) the button that opens/closes the disc drive is a little finnicky and sometimes takes a few pushes to close the drive. However, it plays Blu Rays and DVDs just fine with great picture and sound quality. I've used Panasonic optical players for about 20 years and they are solid. Recommended.

A huge upgrade from my PS5

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had gotten into 4k discs when I got my ps5, but the laser on the PS5 kept skipping or having trouble reading some of the larger discs. I also think the picture it puts out is better than the PS5, but I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is. This player is definitely much better than the PS5 at upscaling Blu-Rays though, they all look spectacular. I got this open box for almost half-off which doesn't hurt either! If you want to compare this to the other Panasonic players, the UB-420 seem to be basically the same as this but with streaming, which I would never need to use a blu-ray player for. I also think DolbyVision is not the ultimate experience and just clever branding, so if you really need the DV you may want to buck up for that UB-820!

A good player!

Through the ARC function of my amplifier and new Samsung tv capabilities I can get full use my stereo surround system and enjoy the 4k UHD quality of the player to it’s fullest! As I had hoped when I bought it, it plays my blu-rays and DVDs just fine!

Panasonic 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player

For someone who is only interested in watching DVDs/Blu-rays and does not require Wi-Fi or extra features, this gets the job done. I have been very impressed with playback quality of 4K discs and also with the upscaling quality of old DVDs. The picture quality is crisp and clear. The remote is much smaller than the Panasonic remotes I have used in the past, but I have had no problem adjusting to it. Overall, this is not a fancy high-tech product, but if all you need is a basic player to watch movies, this is a perfect, affordable option that has surpassed my expectations.

Upconverts DVD and Bluray discs to improve picture sharpness. The remote control is tiny and easy to lose.

A very compact design with basic features.

You get a decent sized remote control with lots of features on it that are readily used and it is easy to set up, but you have to go through the remote control to figure out how to use apps on the player due to them, not being on the main menu.

An Upgrade to match my TV

It is now compatible with my newer 4K HD TV and Home Theater system which supports Dolby Atmos. It seems to upscale just fine for older DVDs. It is a smaller footprint than the old and it loads Blu-ray DVDs much faster. I am very happy with this purchase.

Only drawback is the slow loading speed and poor display and location of controls making it a bit difficult to see in a low-lit room.

Great new features

I do, however, have an issue with Best Buy, who gave me a difficult time returning this unopened item because they "aren't taking returns" the day I took it back. I typically like Panasonic, though this is cheap. What I do like from the specs is that it is dumb and not "smart".
