This is great, the battery lasts long, and it does not take long to charge. But it's way too noisy, and it's hard to shave under the nose, because it's too big. But overall, it's really good.

I got a gift certificate from my daughter and son-in-law so I decided to get a new shaver. I bought my first one, a Vidan, about 3 and a half years ago from a Bic electronic store in Japan. The foil wore out and the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore but I thought it was a great shaver until I bought this new Panasonic Arc5 with the gift certificate. The Vidan is very loud with a loud buzz and the shaving head only tilts front to back. This wet or dry shave Arc5, also made in Japan, has a very soft buzz and also tilts front to back but better yet, tilts left to right which I think makes the Arc5 shave closer almost like a razor blade does. I also like that the shaving head can be rinsed daily under running water to remove debris rather than by only using a small brush. This shaver comes with a soft zippered travel case and wired charger. Great product so far!

I previously had always stuck with Braun electric shavers, as I found them to provide a good shave and hold up well over time. However, the most recent Braun razor I had wasn't performing quite as well anymore, and I had to keep replacing the head/blades to get it to do a clean shave with little irritation. When that shaver broke (only had it for a little over a year), I decided to start looking at other brands of electric shavers. After reading lots of reviews, I decided to try the Panasonic Arc5 shaver. The sound it makes was quite different, and it sounded like it wasn't as powerful as the Braun. BUT, when I used it the first time, I was amazed at how well it performed. It may not sound powerful, but it is definitely BETTER than the Braun shaver. It shaved much better on the first pass, whereas the Braun took multiple passes to get most of the hairs. The Braun shaver would pull hairs sometimes, instead of cutting them, which hurt every time. I don't have that issue with the Panasonic Arc5... it cuts short or longer hairs with ease, no pulling or pain. The Arc5 is also really easy to clean. I just pop the head off, run it under the faucet for a bit and clean out the stubble. And I run the shaver itself under the faucet to clean it off. The Braun shavers were not as easy to clean, often getting stubble stuck in places that were a pain to clean out. I don't have that problem with the Arc5. Charging the Arc5 is fast and easy... It does a full charge in less than an hour. The Braun shavers took over an hour to charge. The Arc5 battery lasts longer too... I can get 2-3 full shaves on one full battery charge, whereas I could only get one full shave using the Braun. Overall, I am VERY satisfied with the Panasonic Arc5. I wish I had tried a Panasonic sooner.

Just purchased the Panasonic Arc5 electric shaver to replace my Braun 3 electric shaver. My Braun was my first foil shaver and it did a decent job, but not as good as the Arc5. I don't know if my Braun just needs new foil or the Arc5's foil are still new and sharp, but the Arc5 gave me a really close first shave. Still not as close a razor as I had to take a couple of passes to get my skin smooth, but pretty darn close. It glided much better than my Braun. You can tell how strong the shaver is based on how easy it cut my hair. It's a little loud, but you can't expect a V8 to sound like a Hybrid. The Arc5 feels really light too. The head is big, but it glides over my jaw, chin and cheek area with ease. There's a lock on the power button so whether you're traveling and don't want it to accidentally turn on you have that option. There's also a lock on the back to keep the head from pivoting, which again is probably used when traveling to protect the head from moving freely. . The Arc5 also comes with a plastic cover to protect the head as well as a soft faux leather case to protect the shaver when you throw it in a toiletry bag or suitcase. Charging seems to be really fast. Out of the box it was completely dead, but only after a few minutes charging it was already at 30%. It's advertised to give you 45 minutes of shaving, so we'll see. The Arc5 has a digital display to show you the battery % as well as the number of minutes it's been used, which I'm guessing go hand in hand. Overall, after only one use this has been the best electric shaver I've owned and the closest shave next to a razor. Hoping that this isn't just the honeymoon phase and continues to provide me with a close shave for years to come.
