Thoughtful, Helpful Features and Impressive Range

This video baby monitor from Panasonic goes way beyond the basics, with many useful features and an impressive range.
Bells and whistles aren't very helpful if a baby monitor doesn't offer clear sound and picture -- and I'm happy to say that this one does. We can see our baby clearly on the screen, even through the mesh walls of the bassinet, or in low light thanks to the night vision feature. The ability to move the camera remotely both horizontally and vertically seems like it will be very helpful once our little one us a bit more mobile. Audio transmission is very clear, in both directions (this model allows us to push a button on the display unit and transmit audio back to the baby's room). The unit can be set down on a hard surface or mounted to a wall with the included bracket. The viewer unit has a rechargeable battery and micro-USB connection for recharging.
Once we were satisfied that the essential functions were accounted for, we tried some of the extra features. The noise sensor and motion sensor, both with adjustable sensitivity and audible or silent alarm options, make it very easy to know quickly if baby has moved or starts to fuss. The fact that you can choose parts of the screen for the motion sensor to ignore was also super helpful for avoiding false alarms (from shadows, blowing curtains, etc, on the other side of the room).
The specs on this model promised up to 1,500 feet of range, and honestly, I wasn’t sure who’s going to monitor their baby from so far away. Still, I decided to give it a try, and sure enough, I could see and hear baby from several houses down the block (we live in a moderately densely populated suburb, obviously your experience will vary based on any number of things that could block signal in your neighborhood).
Overall, this is a great baby monitor, and I’m very happy with it.

I live on a 1.5 acre lot and this monitor works incredibly far. Much farther than I was expecting. Display size and quality is great.
Other features including the lullabies, white noise, various sensors for temperature, motion and sound all function great and are very useful.
Tilt/pan/zoom makes it easy to set this up to be looking wherever you need it to, and it is as easy to mount as hanging picture.
Easy 5 stars on this little unit.

So pleased with this monitor. Was easy to setup and connect. Took monitor outside to the patio and had good range with minimal interference. Some great features and settings are, camera can play lullabies and white noise, camera pans and tilts, and has automatic night vision. Monitor has 2 way talk (ie. intercom) capabilities. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the movement, sound and temperature sensors. Can easily use monitor for travel since it relies on DECT and not WiFi, meaning I don’t have to rely on knowing the WiFi password everywhere I go. Easy to use all the controls and menus on monitor. Lastly, the multi-cam feature is interesting but I didn’t get to experience it since, for me, one camera is enough.
Some cons are:
Image was moderate not the best clarity.
No power indicator when screen was off so it was hard to know when the more motor was off or on standby.
Can’t turn off temperature sensor setting as I really had no use for it.
Overall, very satisfied with this baby monitor.

More than a simple monitor

Being a child of the 80's I remember my monitor which consisted of a 2 way audio only monitor.
Things have truly changed since then. This Panasonic monitor is like the difference between a "Model T" and a Ferrari.
Not only can you monitor your "pride and joy" via audio/video (it includes night vision, and the ability to listen/talk back) - but you can also set this to monitor the temperature in your child's room. If it goes above or below the set temperature an amber/brown light appears on the screen.
You can also do the same for setting a sound threshold for if your child begins to cry (you can set the threshold to different levels of crying or volume in general - it knows the difference!!)
Perhaps the most impressive feature is the ability to play a lullaby (of which there are many to choose from) to soothe your child.
My favorite feature, however is the ability to pan the camera around 300 degrees. That way if your toddler strays from their bed/crib (as I used to, many moons ago) you can follow them with the camera.
It can be table, or wall mounted. The hardware is included.
So, if you are in the market for the Ferrari of baby monitors, I would highly recommend this product. It is worth the price, no doubt about it!

Pretty Great Baby Monitor

This camera really delivers where it matters! Quality video and sound, even at the neighbors house! It's easy to setup and it can pan, tilt, and zoom! The microphone picks up every little noise, even my washing machine two rooms away.
The handheld monitor is re-chargeable with the included Panasonic battery, and charges with the included microUSB adapter. I wish the camera itself had a battery for easy portability, but realistically this is going to stay in a room, in a stationary spot. The power cord is pretty long, making the location placement pretty easy!
The only thing you need for the setup, is a small screwdriver for the monitor battery cover. The battery came fully charged, making it ready out of the box! It even has an LED indicator on the top to give you a heads up for motion and sound.
Overall, this is a pretty impressive baby monitor! I highly recommend you stop looking, and just purchase!

This baby monitor is affordable, has excellent features, and is one of the best options on the market.
I have two children below the age of 7 and we have used multiple monitors over the years. Each of them had their own issues, from limited range to poor features. This model keeps things simple but packs enough features to make it a good buy.
Pros:
- Excellent range
- Competitive price
- Great features like lullabies and white noise
- Not dependent on Wi-Fi connections
Cons:
- Picture quality could be better, but is good enough
Overall, this is a great buy and should be considered by any parent that needs to keep an eye on a baby or toddler.

I bought this for our toddler thinking I would buy a second camera for when our baby will arrive in March. I returned the first thinking it was a problem with the unit. The second has been better but I am still fighting with the spotty night vision. When it works it is great. When it does not I have an audio monitor that cost way too much money. Very disappointed.

Baby monitor requirements usually make for a short list – decent picture/video, sound, mounting options. Panasonic offers that and more with the Connected Home Video Monitor.
The monitor comes in a very compact box. Everything neatly packaged and nearly fully assembled. The camera looks like a little robot, so it’s cute for kids – appealing to the eye. The only assembly required is the installation of the battery in the receiver. To install the battery, you will need a small (P1) screwdriver. When loosening the screw, it’s important to note that the screw will come out of the battery cover. I think Panasonic could have prevented the screw from falling out of the cover. It is a small screw, so take note. The battery must be installed prior to use, or you will receive an impassable battery error. Simply plugging in the camera and receiver (post battery installation, of course) makes the monitor operational.
Once powered up, you will navigate a pretty straightforward set up. Once setup is complete, voila, picture. The picture quality is pretty good; actually, it’s the best I’ve seen on a baby monitor. Granted, I have only seen maybe 4 of them, but I was impressed based on my limited experience. The very first thing that really stood out was the motion detection – it is sensitive. Not only are the sensors fantastic, but there are also different alert types dependent on the activity level detected. When motion is detected, you are notified both audibly and visually. There are different colors dependent on the level of activity – green and orange. This is great, because you can easily tell if your baby is awake during night or nap time, or you can tell if the baby is moving a little too much during awake times. The Connected Home Monitor offers good pan/zoom/tilt functionality. Pan and tilt are available by simply using the arrow keys on the receiver. Zoom can be found in the settings, and I believe this is acceptable. As for those settings: you can control every aspect of this device in settings. Motion sensitivity, camera zoom, picture quality settings, audio configuration… You name it; you control it. There are also built in lullabies and ambient noises. You can even set schedules for sound play. Excellent feature with great execution. Panasonic claims this monitor has ridiculous range. Well, I will say that you should have absolutely no problem using the receiver from the other side of the house. The claim of 1500 feet is probably accurate in a place without walls, but I will admit, this thing has great range. You could easily walk outside with the receiver and remain in touch, so to speak. The technology employed to give users a stronger, more penetrating signal works. Good job Panasonic.
With a good picture, rangy pan and tilt, a plethora of features and controls, long range, and steady performance, it’s difficult to pass this monitor up. When choosing a monitor, this should be at or near the top of the list.

We have had many baby monitors, but this one by far is the best. For the price and the functions, you can't beat it. The PTZ features are outstanding. The video is very clear with lights on, and with lights off, I am able to tell if my toddler's eyes are closed or if they are open even with it being ten feet away in the dark. The fact that it will play music when it hears her cry is great. If she starts to move a lot, or if she gets out of bed, you can set it where it will give you an audible notification, or if it will just turn on. This feature is great as well. Overall this product is absolutely worth it.

For a baby monitor this product does an excellent job. Being able to move around with the screen makes this a no brainer purchase. Not a lot different than other "security cameras" on the market. But the portable screen makes all the difference. Having motion, sound and temp sensors are also great additions. The two way comm and user replaceable batteries are what set it over most others. Highly recommended system!

The Baby Monitor That YOUR Baby Deserves!

It comes as no surprise that when I evaluated Baby Monitors, the one by Panasonic tested far superior to the 2nd place finisher. Panasonic has been associated with manufacturing the BEST electronic products for decades+ & this is just another example of excellence.
The motion & sound alerts are awesome! You can choose LED or sound or both types of alert. The monitor can pair up with 3) cameras, providing safety with separate alerts for babies in up to 3) rooms.
The color monitor produces crisp, sharp images, as you would expect from Panasonic.
The lullaby & white noise features add to the versatility & make this one device even more useful. I love the "auto lullaby" feature, where sound will actually trigger the camera to play a lullaby!
The timer option on the monitor further adds convenience.
This Baby Monitor even tracks & alerts you to temperature changes in the baby's room!
Pan, Tilt & Zoom features work as expected. You are in control of the image.
CONCLUSION: This Panasonic Baby Monitor earns 1st Place, Hands Down & is the BEST of the BEST of any I have tested to date. It earns my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Perfection

Simply put, this is the best baby or kid camera I have ever used. I personally have 8 different brands of cameras for watching my kids and baby around the house. Most if them work with my phone, but the Panasonic is just perfection. I cannot find one flaw, at all!
I love I am able to play lullabies and even zoom in. I also see great distance with the wireless system. I can take the screen almost 500 ft away through multiple walls and still watch my kids while I work in the garage and be inside in seconds if an issue arises or the baby wakes up. The fact I can also pan the camera side to side and up and down, is just top notch in my book.
If you want the ultimate baby monitor, this is it, period! I also love the 2 way communication built it, I have already found myself using it more and more every day.
But this camera monitor before you waste your money on a cheaper version.

As a father of two kids, the most important thing in a baby monitor for me is distance: how far can I walk away from the crib? This unit advertises extra long range, and while I didn't measure it, I have no complaints.
At its core, this monitor is like any other. A camera you keep plugged in, and a video unit that you can charge up but operates primarily on batteries. But this Panasonic unit has a lot of extra features that come in handy that put it at the top of your list.
SETUP and EASE OF USE
I will read instruction manuals when needed, but I do appreciate when a product is just so intuitive, no instructions are needed. This monitor falls pretty close to not needed instructions. The buttons on the monitor are pretty old school (no touchscreen, D-pad with an "OK" button). The other buttons are pretty self-explanatory (i.e. microphone, menu, brightness level).
First time use was easy I didn't have to setup anything. The only thing I did was plug in the camera and insert the battery the monitor and voila, it was setup. I didn't have to connect the two.
FEATURES
This monitor is stuffed with nice features. It can detect the temperature in the room and will alert you (via light and the screen lighting up) if it gets outside a certain range. It also detects motion and sound. You can limit the "zones" of motion that i detects, but I didn't care that much. I actually disabled motion and relied on audio since I had the camera trained on an infant in a crib. But the monitor would light up yellow for sound or green for motion and alert you whenever it detected either. i found it a little overbearing as I didn't always want to get my kid from his crib just because he made a slight noise. But it's a great option nonetheless depending on your circumstances.
BATTERY LIFE AND PERFORMANCE
The distance you can take the monitor away is impressive and deserving of praise. Obviously, you can only go so far with your monitor before you're too far away, but it should be able to easily cover two floors and a basement and the surrounding yard. I was able to take it even further, even a few hundred yards down the street.
The battery life is pretty good when just relying on audio. Mine lasted a few days of intermediate use. I'm sure it would be shorter if you used the video all the time. But the battery meter is nice and gives you ample notice of a low battery before flat out dying.
VIDEO QUALITY
Really the only knock on this monitor is the video quality. All I'll say is luckily you aren't downloading and saving these videos because they aren't that good. Honestly, you don't need high quality footage when monitoring a baby, but it does allow you to zoom in under certain circumstances.
OVERALL
This a great monitor. it does exactly what it's supposed to do, with a little extras. While the video quality isn't great, it doesn't have to be. The range alone is worth the purchase if you're in the market.

I installed this camera in our living room as a security camera. It produces decent video images however it becomes somewhat grainy in low light. It is easy to install and connect. It is small enough to be placed discreetly. The two way radio also produces decent sound, I can hear the sounds in the other room clearly. The tilt works well and you pan to any direction you want to see. There's a bit of a lag on the alert sometimes, I guess when connection isn't that strong. Otherwise, this is a decent security camera for our needs and we plan to buy another unit to install in other areas of our home.

So coming from a combination of a repurposed $200 wireless security camera and a very cheap audio only baby monitor combination, this monitor comes as a mixed bag but, I do think I'll keep using it over my previous set up.
Video quality
The video quality on this camera is so-so. The night vision is where I really notice the difference between this camera and my old camera and it's not great. You can definitely make out baby's movements but, it's no where as clear as my old camera. The pan and tilt function is definitely an improvement though. I really do like the ability to move the camera around as my baby moves around the crib at night. This is a must have feature on all video baby monitors.
Audio
Not much here, you can hear baby. I haven't had any problems, it will get pretty loud and you have the ability to turn the volume all the way down if you want.
Notifications
This is a really cool feature. You can set the monitor to alert you via a ringtone and light when baby either cries or moves. I like this because I use a white noise machine in baby's room so, with this feature, I'm able to turn the volume on the monitor way down so I don't heartbeat constant white noise. You can adjust the sensitivity levels of the noise and motion detection to best suit your needs. I keep mine on medium and it works pretty week.
Temp sensor
This monitor comes with a temperature sensor as well. You can easily see the temperature on the monitor screen and also use it to notify you when baby's room gets too hot or cold. I haven't ever used this notification functionality since baby's room hasn't left that temp range but, it is a good thing to monitor.
Base station
The base station is pretty great. The screen is bright and controls are easy to use. Other than the so-so image quality, I have no real complaints. The battery life on the base is pretty great, I haven't ran the battery down all the way yet. And having a rechargable battery is a real plus.
Extra features
There are a few other features this monitor comes with that I don't find super useful. The first being white noise and lullabies. This is a good idea in theory but, Panasonic really failed to execute here. The speaker on the camera is terrible. It isn't very loud and does not sound good at all, I could not see using this as a functional white noise machine for my babies room. The other problem here is that the white noise has a present time limit. You can adjust the time but, the maximum is 2 hours, which doesn't work for me because my baby wakes up as soon as the white noise goes off.
The camera also has a talk back function, not sure why you would ever use this but, you still have to use the mediocre camera speaker so your voice sounds pretty weird coming through.

So this is probably one of the best baby monitors currently on the market. It has smart sensors for sound, motion and temperature, but I've yet to figure out how to get them to my liking. The motion and sound detection goes off nonstop and you find yourself constantly hitting the ok button when you are trying to go through the menu. The unit has no issues working through the one wall I have between the camera and the handheld monitor. Battery life seems good and the box states 13 hours standby and 5 hours screen on. This thing is always on so I just leave it plugged in unless I need to take it elsewhere for a few minutes.
The camera is able to tilt down, pan back and forth as well as 2x zoom. The unit has clear night mode, but I haven't had a chance to test it. I've read both good and bad reviews on the graininess of the picture, so I'd advise a buyer to look into that feature. There are mics and speakers for 2 way communication. The box states it has noise reduction, but I've had some high pitch squeals when I get the two too close to each other. Another feature I haven't tested yet is the lullaby and white noise. The box states the it can be remotely activated or auto-played via the sound sensor. For those familiar with Panasonic 2.4 ghz devices, the monitor uses the DECT technology to secure an interference free zone up to 1500 feet.
The box comes with the hand-held monitor, the camera, a wall mount, two power adapters - 1 for each unit and a rechargeable battery for the hand-held. Overall it's a nice setup except for the glitches with the motion and sound software. It would be nice to say it was just an inconvenience, but it really is a pain in the rear as it goes off constantly. That said, I'd still recommend the unit.

I don't know if I have a defective item or if the button is just unresponsive when it wants to be but this works fine when I can manage to turn it on. The battery life is decent and the camera quality in low lighting was better than I anticipated. The sound alarm or notification seems to work very well and picks up noise outside the bedroom at times. The range on the monitor is great for the smaller apartment we have I'm not sure how it would work in larger homes. The movement alarm or notification leaves something to be desired, at times it seems like it picks up most movement and then other times it seems like my toddler would need to be doing jumping Jack's for the notification to go off. I do appreciate the customized options for notifications and sound as well as the ease of use for positioning the camera. None of those things are as important as being able to reliably turn this thing on though. My husband has issues as well so I don't think it's just me not being able to figure it out. If this turned on when needed everytime I would probably change the rating to four stars with the only other real complaint being the movement monitor can be fishy at times.

The Panasonic connected baby monitor is a great monitor. Pictures and sounds are clear and crisp. The ability to adjust sensitivity levels for motion and sound detection is nice as at the highest level, the slightest sounds and movement set it off. It does take a few seconds for the infrared to kick-in once the lights are turned off, but it's not a huge deal. Overall, a solid baby monitor for keeping an eye and ear on your little one.
