Good First Prime Lens for Pictures and Video

I bought the Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 Lens to go with my new Panasonic GX85. The picture and video quality was a huge improvement versus the included kit lens. I recommend every Mirror-Less or DSLR Camera owner should at least have one Prime Lens with an F stop lower than two such as this one in their kit. The pictures/videos are sharper and clearer. Also you can take nice Bokah type photos and video.
The Lumix G 25mm lens is equivalent to a full frame DSLR's 50mm prime lens = also known as the nifty fifty. Which is a must have if you plan to spend time to take photos and videos.

You really can’t go wrong with this lens. It’s great for low light without flash and produces beautiful images. Usually you can buy this for $150.00 and it’s great for the GH5/4 and G9. It’s small and light. It’s made in China is my only gripe, but for the price. It’s worth it.

Real a good lens, fast at f/1.7...sharp too. Because of the wide aperture it is possible to get good blurry backgrounds for subjects. Great indoors lens and overall very useful if you don't mind moving, backing up or moving forward to frame your subject.

This lens is sharper than the kit lens that came with my sony a7iii. The f1.7 is super nice. Manual focus ring feels good; not too tight, not too loose. The size of it on my g100 allows me to have that in my coat/sweatshirt pocket when I'm shooting with my sony. VERY happy with this impulse buy.

Best Buy had this lens in stock — the big "warehouse" store in NYC did not. So, I've learned to check with my local Best Buy before committing to ordering from New York. Been using this lens for about 6 mos. now. Really no issues. I use it with a Blackmagic Design Cinema 4K Camera for in-studio video capture. Very sharp. Great DOF.

I wish the kens was flatter but its very compact and ive always used a 50mm on my old film cameras that i had in the pass, i always used a minolta x700 with the 50mm and the other digital cameras with the 50mm canon RP and like the focal length very much, but still the size for a mirrorless camera its very big, since 2012 i bought the olympis om d em5 and sold it a few years ago to use RP but the size, feel and weight isn't ideal for a mirrorless camera, thats what its all about size, feel and weight, so i bought again an Olympus omd em1 mark i, why i like the way the screen folds up 180° and use it by the waste i feel like am using a Hasselblad c50 camera love the way it feels in the hand,.

This a great first lens to get after the kit lenses that come with your camera. The wide aperture makes it great for low light and getting sharp images with beautiful blurry backgrounds. I've used this lens for both video and stills on the Panasonic G7 and it produces phenomenal images. Definitely recommend!

Great lens especially for the price. This is a must-have for enthusiasts, great bokeh, and wide enough to compensate the m43 sensor's weakness in low-light. Nice and light, great for walking around in public taking photos, not to intimidating for on-lookers. On par to a nifty-fifty when it comes to being a required part of any photographer's kit.

For the price, this lens is hard to beat. I’m using it primarily for video but I’ve taken a couple of stills with it as well and was very impressed. It’s great in low light and you can get a very nice bokeh effect.

I picked up this lens on a whim. And I'm very happy I did. This equivalent to a nifty 50 on a full frame camera is great for the price. I got it for less than $150 and I love the small depth of field I get. For the price point , I couldn't be happier.
