With a few upgrades the S5 becomes a powerhouse

I did make a significant upgrade to its capabilities by adding an Atomos Ninja V, which I highly recommend if you plan to use it for video. My main complaint at the moment is the apparent lack of accuracy from the in-camera level gauge. Not even Panasonic has been able to tell me the tolerances so far, but I have had my case escalated and am waiting to hear back regarding this issue. Aside from that, I've purchased a fotodiox pro EF-L adapter and a canon 16-35mm f2.8 lens (very lightly used) for MUCH less than the Panasonic PRO lens (which is only f4, I believe) and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Great video camera and good for stills too

Amazing video features and I've managed to shoot some great looking shots. Not for the average point and film sort of person but could work if you have the money to spend. Uses a Leica L mount connection for the lens which most lenses are very pricey for, so something to consider.

Full sensor 4k resolution

Panasonic makes some pretty good cameras. Don't let the professional camera reviews change your mind in purchasing this Panasonic s5 this is more than enough for your average user. FYI sigma has a okay line up for the L mount so don't freak out in buying very expensive panasonic premium lenses

Weather resistant mid-weight

Despite the depth of field only focus system, I've had no issues with the auto focus doing mainly still photography. Its mid-size, and weather resistance, lends itself for carrying up mountains rather than a higher resolution camera which can be pretty beefy.

Camera is Great Lens was defective

Wonderful camera

Great color, excellent kit lens (20-60mm), and the user interface is just wonderful. I've used Canon and Sony mirrorless FF cameras, and this is, hands down, my favorite over both other lines.
