Punchy Sound for a Game or Exercise Rig
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Summary - The Panasonic SoundSlayer is a small, easy, and relatively inexpensive way to add great 3D sound to a gaming rig or exercise station. Really 4.5 stars, with some minor quibbles. Gaming has evolved and so have gaming rigs. My 'gaming rig' is now my game and exercise station. It includes a gaming laptop and a deskside pc. The deskside is driving a 27" high frame rate gaming monitor and a 43" 4K TV, with a cycling trainer in front of the TV. The SoundSlayer is small enough to fit in easily, equipped with a built-in subwoofer, and sounds much better than the computer speakers it replaced. It is small enough to be easily transported with the laptop, at least around the house and is way more comfortable than a headset. While it doesn't match a multi-point 5.1 speaker installation, the 3D sound effect is also surprisingly good. As will most sound bars, there are multiple presets for 'sound modes', standard, music, cinema, and game mode. The game mode has three separate settings, FPS mode for location, Adventure mode for voice enhancement, and RPG mode for enhanced music and sounds. The real driver for me was the exercise station. Headsets, even earbuds, were a non-starter for high intensity exercise. I wanted a good sound system during exercise sessions that could be used for gaming and the odd streaming as well. The sound quality of the SoundSlayer is surprisingly good for such a small system. During exercise sessions, class leaders came through clearly, music was great, and Discord for group sessions was distinct and clear. I'm currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn and the Borderlands series using a 3D headset. Switching over to the SoundSlayer virtualized 3D maintained the illusion of location presence pretty well, and the sound quality to my ears was a little clearer. I was surprised by how similar the experience was switching between headset and SoundSlayer, with the SoundSlayer having an advantage with better bass. It is portable enough that I was carrying it to other parts of the house to use with my laptop rather than wearing a headset for an hour or two. That said, the SoundSlayer is a bit lacking in a couple of areas. There is no WiFi support, only Bluetooth, so no Chromecast or Assistant support. There is also only one HDMI input along with an ARC capable HDMI output, although there is also an optical input. For anyone connecting another game system, such as an xbox, it would have to go through the TV. The USB-A port is provided only for firmware updates. Streaming music over Bluetooth worked well though. The biggest limitation, to me, was the display, four multi-color LEDs that indicate the volume, bass level, and mode. There is no printed guide on the speaker, so you have to memorize the color codes for the gaming mode, or just set it each time with the remote. A clearer display would have been appreciated. Overall, I'm very happy with the SoundSlayer as an improved sound system for my game/exercise station with easy portability over to my gaming laptop as well. While it is intended as a game station sound system, it could easily be moved to the main TV in the living or family room. For anyone building a dedicated exercise station, the SoundSlayer is just about perfect.

Good with some caveats
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good with some caveats Overall, it's great compact soundbar. If you are tight on space this will work for you. Even in its compact size, it sounds nice. Bass is limited due to size, but you still know it's there. It will still shake things a bit. You can adjust the bass level separately. With Bluetooth it does fine connecting to a phone or tablet to play music. In music mode it sounds nice. The remote allows you switch inputs and sound types easily. The clear dialog option does make a difference for voices. Atmos and the 3D surround option do expand the sound stage and make your sound richer. Download the Atmos app on PC and you will be able to access the codex. It is better than just a pair of PC speakers. It is a solid upgrade from monitor/TV or regular speakers. It has one HDMI in and one out along with a optical port and USB for firmware upgrades. Make sure you go to the support page to get the full manual. It does ARC if using with a TV to get sound. Operation is simple and the remote covers everything you need. It does up to 4K@60. The caveats are a few. It can't do some ultrawide resolutions. You can read about which resolutions are supported, make sure you do. I was using 2560x1440 and expected the issue. The manual recommends connecting the monitor and soundbar by different cables in this situation. So, have a splitter or extra cable handy, or dual HDMI. One connection is sound, and one video. I tired mixing HDMI and Display port and it my PC did not like it. So, I bumped back the resolution a bit for now to 2560x1080 and just use HDMI. What the soundbar is doing is all indicated by lights or flashing lights. For the price a small 1-line LED scroller would have been a great help. By default, the device times out after 20 minutes. To turn this off you have to apply a button on the remote and the sound bar at the same time and look for a flashing light to indicate of the timer is on or off. A small LED display would make this much easier. Although the subwoofer is there, in this price range most soundbars have a separate dedicated subwoofer. I went to the support website and downloaded the latest firmware. I plugged in the USB and got no indication if I was current or not. There is no indication of the current volume setting, just flashing lights letting you know if you are increasing or decreasing the level. For the size, it sounds great, has good options, and is compact. But, for the price, some better setting feedback and a separate subwoofer would seem to be appropriate, as well as broader support of gaming monitors.

Quality surround sound in a compact package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believed it was meant for a gaming machine, that is why my initial setup was to have the speakers right by my set up. So when I had it on, I noticed how LOUD this speaker is. Curiously, I tried placing it on a regular TV bedroom set up and it still is powerful. For something this light and compact, it is surprisingly booming. The loudness is well-mixed. The vocals are clear with the highs well-pronounced, such as glass or sparkles can be heard with crisp. And it is well supported with the rumbles—the lows have a way to engulf the high range. So it has that perfect mix. The remote is easy to understand and the settings are a breeze to change. My only concern is the connectivity with HDMI. I did have some issues getting the signals out to my monitors and TV. I had to cycle between inputs and devices. PC direct to the speaker inputs works with duplicating out to monitors. PS4 to the speakers won’t show up so I had to use an optical cable. If there was one thing, that was my only concern. Otherwise, it is a really awesome soundbar that does not require a separate subwoofer. You can even use it for a good sized bedroom as a compact cinema soundbar.

Not just for gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Packs a punch especially for its size. While it is marketed for gaming, and does an excellent job in my opinion, the marketing is doing it a dis-service as I found it to be excellent as a soundbar for your TV or just listening to tunes streaming from my phone. If you are looking for a somewhat portable system that can be easily moved room to room, device to device, then I highly recommend. But due to its size, being “only” 2.1 and its price point there are a couple of drawbacks. In the box; 2.1 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos, DTSx, DTSx virtual, 4k passthru, ARC, with 1 HDMI and 1 optical input. At 2 inches high, 17 inches wide and 5.1 inches deep and solid 4 lbs. - its easily moved. Has built in subwoofer with passive radiator. At each end is a tweeter and full range speaker – rated at 80w. Power cord (nice that the “block” is in the middle of the AC cord so does not block any other outlets when plugged in). Somewhat tiny but easily read remote with battery included. Basic Owner’s Manual – I would suggest going to the site address mentioned on from page of manual to register and download much more complete user info. Likes; The black soundbar design is sleek and modern and as mentioned is very portable. Remote is small but buttons are nicely sized and easy to read. Has Power Button, mute/dimmer, Input, subwoofer +/-, volume, pairing (for Bluetooth), standard/music/cinema, 3D surround and game modes. Also at end of soundbar there are buttons for on/off, volume and another for pairing. There are lights on the soundbar indicating different settings. If your TV has ARC (Audio Return Channel) and HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) you just need an HDMI cable to connect and you are pretty much set to go. I used HDMI input then output to monitor and TV and was easy to setup. Since only 4k content I have is from streaming I didn’t try but 1080P worked fine. I did not try the optical connection. I connected to my gaming laptop using HDMI cable in and then out to my monitor (same as I used for TV connection). With 3 gaming modes (RPG – Role Playing Games, FPS – First Person and Voice mode for adventure games) the sound is impressive for 2.1 and while it did envelop you with sound it it seemed to come more from the side than behind. Turning on 3D certainly helped and fills the room with more sound. I think overall a good gaming headset still sounds better but for those times you do not want to use a headset this provides good sound given its small footprint. CLR (clear)dialogue worked well watching TV, which is surprising given no middle speaker. Panasonic seems to have some type of software, etc. that mimics a center speaker. Not sure really but it works. Sure, beats any of the tiny speakers used in TV’s today. Music sounded good as well, but in certain places did sound a tad tinny. It was extremely easy to synch to my phones Bluetooth. Initially though the sound was terrible but upon closer inspection I noticed I had CLR Dialog turned on (old ears and had been watching TV). Still, it was not great since there is no built-in EQ - only bass is adjustable using remote – so I went into the EQ within my Black-Player music app and adjusted sound there. Thunderstruck (AC/DC) and Boys of Summer (Don Henley) as well as some classical music all sounded good after adjusting. BUT you are not going to shake the walls with the bass from this unit – woofer is just too small. I tried synching speaker to my Dell and Samsung Laptops, as I was hoping to be able to “cut the HDMI cord” but neither one showed the soundbar in device list. Not sure why? 1-year warranty. Dis-likes; Controls on speaker are on the end requiring you to have access to the side of speaker or tip it out to use. But I have to admit not having them on top does provide a much sleeker look and allows something to be placed on top. No fine tune EQ adjustments/settings other than bass volume No analog input, I know – but it limits connecting to older equipment. No voice activated AI – google or amazon or built-n Chromecast, etc. Only 1 HDMI connection Remote is not illuminated and makes it hard to find/use in dark room. Volume level isn’t shown so you don’t really know where you are within its output range. Also, remote adjustment seemed to only work if volume up/down buttons were held. No option to add rear speakers. Kind of would defeat the purpose of being a small all in 1 box but would be nice to be able to add at some point. If using on desk and turn it up be prepared to pick up items off the floor as they will be shaken off your desk! Final Ramblings; I recommend as it’s a nice speaker with a lot of versatility for its size but it is a tad pricey. For more info and a cutaway of the speaker try https://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/home-entertainment/home-cinema-systems/sc-htb01.html

Good things DO come in small packages
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Summary: If you are looking for compact, high quality, easy to set up, 3d (well better than stereo), audio to sit under your monitor and about 2 or 3 feet from your ears, look no further. Five stars. If you are looking for a TV soundbar for your 65” widescreen, you have choices. 4 stars. Okay. After looking at other reviews, I feel the need to point out the obvious, you pay more for miniaturization, but sometimes compact speakers are compact speakers. Physics rule! In other words, this is designed to be exactly what it is advertised as, a soundbar you sit reasonably close to on your desk while gaming so that there is enough physical separation (side to side) so you can hear 3d Audio and Dolby Atoms. If you sit 8 feet away, say in trying to use it as a TV soundbar, you will be disappointed and whine it is overpriced. If you want a dedicated TV soundbar, there are better choices that are twice to three times the size to improve sound separation. In fairness to Panasonic, they call this a ‘gaming soundbar’ about a hundred times and say it can be used with a TV maybe once. Sorry. I get frustrated with reviews that complain their sneakers do not help them fly. Pros: - Great sound for a speaker system designed to sit on your desk. Crisp vocals, decent bass. Max volume is clear. - Dolby Atmos worked better than I expected, definitely better than stereo, though does not replace a real surround sound system. - Attractive compact design does not take over your desk but complements most looks. - 4k HDMI pass through. HUGE. Even much more expensive systems do not have pass through, but necessary when hooking up to a gaming console. - Multiple gaming modes, albeit you need to use the included physical remote. - Plug and Play. Simple. Easy to use with HDMI, but also have TOS Optical and Bluetooth. - LOUD, 80 watts of power. Which is more than enough if you are using it on your desk. I do get complaints from the other side of the house if my door is open (that’s a good thing). So So: - Need a separate HDMI switch if you want to easily use this with more than one input (game system). - Me personally, not a fan of separate remotes. Prefer software controls (phone, computer) and digital readouts on the device. If you lose the remote, you lose some functions. Blah. Almost demoted to 4 stars for this. - Do scan the QR code to download the full manual. You will need it and it’s not included in the box. Cons: -Once or twice I needed to restart it to fix audio glitches. This seemed to be a function of changing audio sources. -Led lights cannot be turned off. Can be troublesome in a dark room. If you are not close. Not a game changer (pun intended) for me. - Bluetooth is weak. Works, but really this is for HDMI input. Bottom line: Does what it claims to do, is a premium system for a desk. Do read the directions.

Good Sound in a Small Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the sound slayer delivers great audio quality while gaming, watching a movie, or listening to music. Out of the box, the sound slayer is a compact sound bar that fit on my small desk underneath the monitor with easy access to connections for plug in for my PC, monitor, and PS4 (PS4 connected through digital optical as HDMI taken by PC). The remote control allowed me to easily switch between audio sources, change the volume, and choose between my listening preferences whether I wanted surround sound type dolby atmos or i wanted to hear dialogue better. There are physical buttons on the sound bar but the remote is preferred for easier access and quick changes. The only mode I really cared for was the surround sound with Dolby Atmos and the Sound Slayer delivers on immersing you in the game. I noticed that the experience was better the closer you were to the sound bar and the smaller the room you were in. My gaming set up is in a small 80sqft room that really allowed sound to bounce off the walls and ceilings surrounding me with sounds from the game that made me feel like things were above me, to my sides, or right in front of me. As soon as I got a little further away however, the experience was less immersive and the sound bar functioned like any other speaker with the exception of the great audio quality in the bass and crystal clear vocals or call outs. This sound bar is best used at a desk while gaming directly in front of it for best experience. As soon as I used it in a living room setting, the best parts about the sound bar including the dolby atmos was not very noticeable. The only other con I really have about this sound bar is that the source selection writing on the sound bar does not light up so you do not know which source you're on unless you look very closely or keep switching until you select the correct source. A huge positive is the ability to use Bluetooth to connect your phone for music listening sessions when not gaming or watching other media. The sound slayer sound bar is a great choice in gaming audio and I would highly recommend for the purposes of taking a break from the headphones and allowing sound to surround you in your environment.

Excellent compact gaming soundbar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The soundbar market has arrived, with specialized soundbars for different functions, and now we have one made specifically for gamers. The smaller footprint fits more spaces than its long skinny brethren but doesn't look quite as nice below a tv, and you're unlikely to be able to hang it below a wall-mounted tv. In terms of sound quality, clarity and volume, this thing literally blows away using your television's built-in speakers and gives you sound that rivals many full-fledged sound systems. When I received this, I initially thought the subwoofer was a separate speaker, so imagine my surprise that they pack that much punch into such a small setup. The different sound profile modes are an attempt to give you more control over the eq and boost, just like you would with a full-fledged receiver, but without taking up that kind of space. The remote is a bit hokey but gets the job done. I also found myself wishing it had more of a display or lights beyond the small LED indicators. I will likely be attempting to program an older universal remote to run it and my tv at the same time just so I don't have to have more remotes around. The HDMI capabilities of this unit are versatile, but it highlights the lack of inputs if you want to run more than one thing to it. The inclusion of Toslink is appreciated even if that is a dying art form. The HDMI pass-through might cause some unwanted screen flicker, or depending on your TV, sleep mode screens when you don't expect them while powering on or switching modes, etc. This unit reminds me of the surprising sound that used to come out of the older wavelink stereos once upon a time when you were surprised by the range and volume that could be produced. This soundbar is definitely designed to mostly accomplish one task, and many might find themselves reaching for a receiver beyond what this soundbar can do. If you're simply looking to up your audio game and you spend most of the time with the TV on, also having a controller in your hands, then this is aimed squarely at you. I would recommend it for other console gamers.

Great sound and power in a compact package.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Panasonic Soundslayer is a compact gaming centric sound bar. The first thing you will notice is how small it is – just about 17 x 2 x 5 inches. I always get concerned when I see a sound bar this small – I found that others (albeit less costly) are just subpar in both sound and quality. That is the not the case with the Panasonic Soundslayer, it is rock solid with a high-quality fit and finish. In terms of sound, it is surprisingly powerful and clear. The Panasonic Soundslayer also supports 3D sound. With this option, it creates sound effects that make it appear that the sounds are coming from different areas of the room. Now it is not the same as a multi speaker system but I was shocked on how well it worked; particularly for the sound bar’s size. Keep in mind that your mileage may vary, the height of your ceiling, room dimensions and composition of the walls and ceiling can drastically affect the 3D capability. There are 3 audio modes for the home theater option and 3 audio modes dedicated to gaming. The home theater options are what you would expect but the game modes are interesting. I found the first-person shooter mode to be the best. In summary - Pros Powerful sound in a small package. Supports many of the current audio modes. Clean and crisp sound. Easy remote control. Great deal Cons One input. No Wi-Fi connectivity. No option, at least that I could figure out, to support additional speakers. The Panasonic Soundslayer offers a lot of sound in a small package. I found the sound to be on par with soundbars that are a lot more expensive. That brings me to price – it is only $300. Try to find another soundbar that has comparable features at that price. Just a great deal. The sound bar does take a few hits for lack of inputs and wi-fi but I still easily recommend it and give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Small and powerful Soundbar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit that I was taken back by how compact this little sound bar appeared when I opened it up. I don't have a lot of extra space, so this was the perfect size. Based upon its size, I expected subpar sound and very little bass punch. I was very wrong. This little sound bar packs a punch and sounds amazing. I used the optical cable directly from my television to the sound bar and directly from my Xbox to it as well. There is also a HDMI input and HDMI output available if you do not have an optical cable option. I found that I liked the Cinema mode the best for television shows and sports and the Game mode the best for my Xbox gaming. the 3D sound also really enhanced the sound. The subwoofer packs a punch. I could hear it thumping from two rooms away. The overall sound is a very pleasing mix and high quality. It rivals my much larger sound bar and takes up so much less room. I also paired my mobile phone to the sound bar and it sounds great. There is an additional setting for music and I use this for my music services. The surround sound really comes through with music. The blend of bass and treble is very clear. I will purchase additional Panasonic Soundlslayers for my other televisions. I use this when I work out to play music, watch TV and when I play video games. Panasonic put out a very good product here.

Great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The soundbar is just the right size for most gaming setups. To connect to your PC or monitor you will need two HDMI cables to connect as a pass through. There are no display port options so you will lose refresh rate if you have to switch to HDMI and cap out at 60 mhz. There is an optical input and thankfully my PC's sound card does as well. This is the connection I went with since I am using a high framerate monitor with a display port connection. The drawback is that no connection cables are included other than the power cable. There are few input buttons on the soundbar itself so most features will be adjusted using the included remote. Once you get past hooking it up, the sound quality is excellent. You have the option to select different presets such as Game and Cinema. For the price it should include at least one connection but overall it is a good audio option.

Excellent gaming speaker!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been very impressed with this gaming speaker. I use it with a HP gaming machine and two monitors. For setup, I did have to route the HDMI cables through my 1920 HDMI monitor, as this unit seems to max out at that resolution. Otherwise, setup was very simple and took only a few minutes. This speaker is small enough to fit between our two monitor stands, but packs a nice punch. Just right 3D sound and bass for close-in gaming. There is a very nice balance across all ranges, with the subwoofer having dedicated up and down buttons on the remote. The bass is excellent, and the speaker overall is nicely immersive. Great for watching movies and videos, and listening to music as well. Very impressed and quite happy with this speaker. Definitely worth a try!

Amazing Rich Sound/Small Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hooked the SoundSlayer up to my PS4 and was blown away at the quality of sound that came out of this relatively small soundbar. It fits nicely under my TV and doesn't take up all the space in front of my TV like other soundbars. The 3D Sound setting creates the feeling of having surround sound without the need for additional speakers. The SoundSlayer is perfect for gamers who want great audio all in one package that can easily fit on a desk with a PC or on a TV stand with a console.

A really impressive Soundbar for gaming especially
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I have been using the same ol' Samsung 5.1 surround sound system from 2008. To say that it's gotten a bit dated is an understatement considering that it doesn't even accept HDMI inputs and instead uses S-Video and RCA. It's time for an upgrade. Enter the Soundslayer. This thing is ridiculously easy to setup and get going with a simple HDMI in (from cable box or Xbox, etc) and an output to your TV. I would have liked to have seen Panasonic include 2 HDMI's in as most of us have a tv box and a game box so because of that I did have to deduct a star. I did go ahead and get a 4K HDMI 2 to 1 box which I connected up my Firestick for TV to and my Xbox One to for gaming. Using the Soundbar is very simple and easy. Even my wife was able to pick it up and go and she's not the most tech savvy person. The sound is very, very clear and sounds really great. We used this in our living room area which is a medium sized room without any issue. We never even approached half volume I don't believe and so that tells you the volume of the sound. With that being said, it's not going to blow anyone away with room filling sound either, but for TV and some gaming it does exactly what I want it to do. For the limited number of things we watch and play with Atmos it did pretty good, not as good as my dedicated Atmos setup I have in my theater room but it is nice. All in all I'd recommend this, especially for gamers and also for folks who sometimes struggle with dialogue during TV shows. This has insane clarity for dialogue on normal settings and even also has a dialogue setting which further enhances it. My only complaint is it needs at least one more HDMI input. If Panasonic can add that sometime this would be a 5 star product!!

Great for PC gaming or a small room!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar may not be large, but it sure packs a pretty good punch depending on how you use it. It is definitely not meant to be part of a living room surround sound system, though it could fulfill that purpose if wanted. Right out of the box, there are not many pieces to this product, and it is fairly straightforward with setting it up. It is definitely heavy for a small soundbar, but I think that also adds to the quality "feel" of the product. It also does come with a small remote to use it, but it can also connect to a universal remote and cable box remote, granted you connect it via Bluetooth or with the connection codes, which can be provided by most TV/cable companies. If you do connect via Bluetooth, do note that there may be some sound "lag" (delay) from time to time, and you may have to disconnect it and reconnect in your sound settings. You may also just chooose to adjust your audio settings accordingly to account for the "lag." Otherwise, you can also use an HDMI cable and connect it via ARC, or with a normal audio optical cable, both of which can minimize sound lag. The sound itself from the soundbar is pretty great quality for such a small soundbar, and it can also easily fit in a variety of areas - for example, under your TV, on a shelf, or it could also function as a monitor stand, too. I do like the size of the soundbar because it can allow me to easily move it around from my bedroom TV to my PC to game. I look forward to utilizing this soundbar for as long as I can, as it is one of the better quality soundbars I have used in recent years, without being too bulky or space consuming. Awesome job, Panasonic!

Impressive for Size and Price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Panasonic - Soundslayer 2.1 - Channel Gaming Soundbar with Subwoofer HDR 4K UHD supported is surprisingly effective. I have a large soundbar and subwoofer for my TV that is 5x the price so, when I saw the size of this, I did not expect the sound to be at all in the same league. Although I could tell a difference as far as filling my living room, I found the sound put out by the Soundslayer to be very impressive. I used it for games in a larger room and it was full, clear and crisp. I could hear what was going on around me very well. I was also pleased by the bass from the built-in subwoofer - again much better than I expected. I do wish it had more connection options as it is a good option for general uses as well as for gaming. Bottom-line: I'm very impressed, especially for it's size and price.

Good sound projection, mediocre surround.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up the Panasonic Soundslayer mostly to become a forward-projecting speaker for my TV - as anything has got to be better than the rear-facing, built in speakers. The Soundslayer definitely lived up to it's name, and produces crisp clear vocals and sound quality, but since it's such a compact unit, I have difficulty really hearing any stereo or 3D surround effects. Bluetooth pairs works as expected and the units works good as a bluetooth speaker - although I though it should be a little louder. There's lots of talk on Dolby Atmos and soundbars. Atmos is an object-based surround sound technology. Atmos puts more emphasis on height – so much so that Dolby itself recommends you install ceiling speakers to get the full benefit. It's hard to replicate that on a soundbar - which tries to reflect the sounds off the ceiling. Panasonic gave it a good attempt, but I just don't hear it. I hooked my Amazon FireStick to the Soundslayer and pass the video and audio signal through it to the TV. Works like a champ. No issues with lag or quality. Overall - this is a great upgrade from TV speakers - and a first entry-level set into Dolby Atmos for those curious to see. For the price, I was hoping for a bit better Atmos and 3D Surround distinctions.

Good for what it is.

As a self proclaimed audiophile I love to see new innovative products and hear what they sound like. The Panasonic Soundslayer is good for what it is. If you go into this thinking its a full sized soundbar with a separate floor standing subwoofer, you will be disappointed. This is perfect for a PC, or using with a game console maybe in a kids room where you don't want to spend a ton, but it will definitely improve the sound from the TV's speakers. Out of the box you can tell its a well built product. It feels very solid and is made with good thick plastics. It also comes with a remote which is nice for switching all the different functions. Its easy to hook up with a HDMI in and out as well as an optical connection. You can also connect vial Bluetooth as well. For my testing I had it hooked up to my PC and had it right under my monitor. From what I have experienced, to get the most out of this speaker, you have to be fairly close to it. If you are within like 4-5 feet of it then you do get that kind of immersive sound where you hear the surround and its definitely loud enough to draw you into the game or movie you are watching. If you have it across the room under your 80" TV you're obviously not going to get that immersive experience. There are a bunch of options on the remote to tweak the sound. You have Standard, Music, Cinema, and game modes. From what I found they do enhance each different kind of thing you are listening to. You can also adjust the bass level and enable or disable 3D sound and clear dialog which tries to enhance voices in TV shows or movies. I found the sound quality to be good (for what it is) Its a small compact unit, so I wasn't expecting wall shaking bass or anything like that. But its very tight audio and lows mids and highs are all represented well. Its a nicely balanced speaker. Listening to music over Bluetooth also sounded pretty good. So, if you are looking for something to pair with your PC for gaming or listening to or watching movies or maybe something for the kids room to use with their TV to play games that wont rattle your walls, this is it! If you're looking for a full soundbar for your living room TV, that's just not what this is. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking it out!

Good soundbar for gaming room
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have setup the soundbar through the hdmi in from a xbox one s to an out to a Samsung 4k tv. The speaker puts out great sound while playing a movie. I usually leave it on game mound as cinema sounds tinny to me. I prefer the full 3d immersive sound. I played a round of overwatch for the sound and I enjoy it better than the one in my living room I may swap them out. Connecting the soundbar to my phone with Bluetooth was simple and wS found right away and has no issues connecting and puts out clear sound. I am a fan of this bar and using it for gaming for the 3d with the built in sub is enjoyable. I only had one issue and it may be the cable or the disc but it gave me the hdmi error saying it could not play the disc because of hdcp I used a different cable and it worked fine after that.
