Decent sounding all-in-one CD player.

The Panasonic PM270 CD player is a decent little stereo setup, one that offers most of today’s technology.
The CD player comes packed with 2 bookshelf speakers, a remote control and an FM antenna. Setting up the player is extremely easy, it’s all plug and play. For such a small package, this player offers quite a bit of features… Aside from the CD player with an ejectable drawer, there is a front USB port to play music directly from a USB drive, it also offers Bluetooth and an FM radio.
The player has a built-in amp that offers 20w RMS output (10w per speaker). The stereo also has several built-in EQ presets, that can totally change the sound of the music depending on your preference. There is also a bass booster that offers even extra bass past the normal threshold.
Considering the size of the unit and the speakers, I wasn’t expecting much in terms of sound quality…Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised at how loud this can get. I tried out a few of my CD’s first, I tried everything from rock to rap. It sounded a little muddy at first, but after adjusting the treble and bass to my liking, I was impressed as this stereo sounds pretty good. The speakers offer a pretty decent sound range and like I mentioned, this little system can get very loud. I also tried out a few burnt CD-R’s that I had, to see if the stereo would play them…and yes, it played them just fine.
I tried out the Bluetooth function next. I had no issues trying to connect it to my iPhone and there is practically zero lag when changing tracks. I wasn’t able to notice anything special about the Bluetooth playback, other than it sounded just as good as a CD does. The one thing I would have liked to have seen would be the track text info on the player, instead of it just saying iPhone.
Overall, I like the Panasonic PM270 CD player. It’s perfect for a small workshop, garage, or a single room. The Player gets plenty loud enough for you to be able to hear it, and the sound quality is good considering the size of the speakers. The ability to connect to it via Bluetooth is a huge bonus, as well as being able to connect a USB device for music. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a simple and easy music solution.

This is a fairly solid system for anybody who wants something simple but still has some versatility.
Setting up the stereo was easy for the most part. Installing the speakers still requires you to stick in loose wires into the back of the console, so I was afraid of putting them in wrong or accidentally snapping the wire. Thankfully it all went well, but I would rather something more solid to plug in.
This also comes with a separate ferrite core, which is usually already attached to a power cord for most devices. The instructions weren't the clearest on how to use it, so for anybody scratching their head about this, you need to basically loop the power cord through it twice. Look up Youtube videos if you need to, as I had to resort to this to make sure I was doing things right.
The stereo can be controlled via buttons on the console itself, or through the included remote. What's not included, however, is a AA battery, which I felt was an odd exclusion. You don't need it immediately to start playing music, but keep this in mind while purchasing this system.
In terms of functionality, everything I've tried so far has worked fine. Scanning for radio stations is easy, though there doesn't seem to be an option to save favorites. CDs and USB drives play on it with no trouble, so if you enjoy those forms of physical media, you're in luck. The Bluetooth function will probably be the most handy for everyone, since it seems to work with any other device with that option. I gave it a try with my phone (Android), my laptop, and my Nintendo Switch, and all paired with no issue.
The system includes options for adjusting the bass and treble of audio, but I honestly didn't notice a difference when changing them. There's also a spare sticker sheet with English and French labels, I assume in case text on the system or remote fade away.
Overall though, I'm happy with this stereo, and can recommend it for those who want something basic yet offering a few options if needed.

Panasonic Bluetooth radio is one of a kind great system for bookshelf. I like that can play classic CDs from the error of another time. They really did a good job here modernizing old tech it’s nice and large, but not too big to take over the whole bookshelf, I love the design and the colors, which isn’t too striking or bold. The speakers get very loud enough to fill the living room. You can especially hear it in the bedroom from afar there is a USB port on the front so you can use old style USB to listen to music.
Another good thing on this radio is that it comes with FM. This is great for listening to local music especially from where you’re from. It’s such a simple bookcase CD player. Using Bluetooth was fine, worked though walls. Even goes as far as outside the living space. It does everything it needs to do and the job that it does. It does great. Hooking it up were easy and it was perfect for loud booming sounds. Bass is wonderful. It’s not compact but it’s small enough to take over a large entertainment audio system. I like it five out of five stars.

The Panasonic Stereo system reminds me of the old stereo systems you found in many homes in the '90s. It brings out those nostalgic feelings and lots of great memories to me. It's a classic and elegant design that compliments just about any room.
The great thing about the Panasonic Stereo system is how compact it is when compared to many other systems in the market. Although this is only the 20w system, the sounds quality is great. You have nice crisp clear audio that makes enjoy music a blast.
You really get the best of both worlds...you have the option to slap in a good ol' CD or connect via Bluetooth. There really is a simple, yet classic, dedisgn to this Panasonic stereo that you truly have to appreciate. You also have a USB port up front that will allow you to charge your device if needed.
I was really surprised at how compact the system is. Everything was so easy to hoop up, and I was on my way to great tunes in a matter of minutes.
Overall, the Panasonic stereo sounds great and is compact. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I was looking for a small, simple stereo for my backroom. Something not too large that I could play my old CDs on. It’s a large room, 600 square feet. The Panasonic Compact Stereo came along so I thought I’d give it a try. I am pleasantly surprised with how good this sounds. I played an old Rod Stewart CD, several FM stations (classical, country, classic rock). I found a lecture series I’ve been meaning to listen to on an USB thumb drive. They all sounded crisp and clear. Pairing with my phone via Bluetooth was quick and easy. I was impressed with how clearly I could hear the words in the lecture.
Setup was surprisingly easy. One AA battery (not provided) was needed for the remote control. Speaker wire easily connected to the receiver. FM antenna plugged right in. Connect the power cord and that’s all there is to setup. The Panasonic Compact Stereo comes in a 20 or 80 watt version. I have the 20 watt version. Not sure what more power would add. Pretty perfect at 20 watts.

Having had a chance to try this system on several different occasions throughout a good solid week I have some thoughts to share on this system. First, my initial impressions were somewhat questionable when unboxing it as I was somewhat skeptical in terms of how good this system would sound base on outward appearance, but it actually surprised me after setting it up. Also, when unboxing it I noticed that there were no batteries included for the remote which is a little shocking for something like this when most things that have remotes do come with batteries which had me questioning seriously how good this thing might actually be where a corner was cut on that.
How it sounds ---- This system sounds pretty good, even at loud volumes that fill the room, but clearly this system is designed for casual listening, and it does that very well. After putting a CD in and listening to some alternative rock that I used to listen to in high school found myself reflecting back to those times. The bass is good and clean but not too loud, mids were good for vocal and highs were decent. I would say the sound is fairly well balanced for what this system is, and perfect for a casual listener who wants to do what I did and pop in some old CD's and just have some background music play while reading or doing work or stuff around the house.
Features - The FM radio works good with it being a digital tuner, the Bluetooth is great, and CDs are great, but I have no idea why Panasonic did not put an Aux Input for a phono player, an AM Tuner in or an HD radio tuner other than to keep costs down. It would have been nice to see at least some of those features, and at the very least the AM Tuner, which is almost a deal breaker to me, especially if you like to listen to public news radio, sports or other talk radio. That said they did include a USB port for MP3 playback which is cool but really not all that useful except in specific scenarios. If you don't listen to AM radio or don't need the Aux input then this isn't a big deal, but it's why moved this review to 3 stars. In all, I was not that impressed with the features as it does lack some that I think are essential but if it has what you need then you won't be disappointed at least with the sound from it.
Bluetooth - This is one area I'd say it works very well, once you pair with your phone, PC or whatever you want to pair it with, it quickly reconnects when it's turned on and is immediately ready for playback. Over the last week, I actually like listening to audio on this better than my smart speaker because it sounds better and it's MUCH easier to use. Just open my favorite audio app (Pandora, YouTube Music, etc.) hit play, and turn this system on and boom it's playing there. No fussing with apps, "casting" or settings to get it work, which has always been my biggest complaint with smart speakers where you get locked to using one ecosystem and beyond that it's difficult to use.
I'd recommend this system only if it has the features that you need/want like the CD Player and Bluetooth, ... otherwise I'd say look at other models or other systems. Knowing the features it works good, and I'd recommend it if you're using it to listen to Bluetooth or CDs from your collection.

I have to say I am quite impressed with this little stereo system! For the price point this is at, I have to say I didn’t have my expectations too high. I was looking for a small system that I could have in my garage for when I was doing woodworking projects.
Out of the box you can tell the unit isn’t the most solid. Definitely made with cheaper lightweight plastics. But honestly, you’re really just going to have this sitting on a shelf so it doesn’t need to stand up to a lot of handling.
Setup is very straightforward. Each speaker comes with the speaker wires attached and all you have to do is attach them to the main unit. There is also an antenna cable that you attach for bringing in local over the air broadcasting stations. Then the power cord and that is it!
It also comes with a remote that you can access most of the functions of the stereo through.
One thing I had a little problem with is the viewing angle of the screen. You have to be looking pretty much directly at it at eye level in order to be able to see the display. If you are lower or higher, you won’t be able to see it. I have this set on a shelf in my garage that’s about 7 feet off the ground (I’m 6’2”) and I can’t see the display without standing on my tiptoes.
Now to get into the sound quality. I will say what when I popped in a CD and turned this thing on, I was pretty blown away at how good it sounds. I’m not going to say this is audiophile quality by any means, but for the price you kind of come into it with an expectation of how good (or bad) it will sound.
I listen to mainly Rock and metal music. There are separate controls for both bass and treble so you can dial in the tone you are looking for. I found this had very good bass for the size and good high end as well. I think for most people they will think this sounds pretty darn good!
I also tested out the Bluetooth on it and I was able to connect to my phone very easily and roam around my large garage without the signal cutting out at all. The regular radio also works very well. We are about 30 miles away from the broadcast towers and had no problems picking up all the local stations without static.
Overall, I have to say I was quite impressed and my expectations of this stereo were exceeded. Definitely check it out if you are in the market for a compact stereo system.

Budget Radio equals Budget Sound? I think not!

Panasonic has really impressed me with many products in my home over the past 20 years and this radio was next up to try and impress me. I have 3 systems from a full 7.1 in my movie den, the 5.1 setup in my garage for shop time fun, and my 2.1 setup for the living room. I needed a new CD player badly due to my 100 disc quitting after 20 plus years. I only have a few CDs I play because they are DJ sets that never went main stream recordings.
I thought I would just setup the CD player with my current system but I can say with full confidence, this is not a budget radio. I am so happy with the sound from this 20 watt radio, the crisp sound, tight mids, and smooth bass, is perfect for almost every genre besides heavy rap. I listen to Electronic, Jazz, Big Band, Rock, and Classic 40s, 50s and 60s. Even though I am only 43, I have grown up in the music world between playing sax, DJing, and producing new songs for my sets from scratch. Listen to so many genres has helped me hear what speakers should produce within their limits and price point.
The sound quality is not $10k plus quality like my movie den, but it is very satisfying for the size and budget.
The CD player works and the LCD screen shows all the information you need at a quick glance. Bluetooth hooks up fast and easy and sounds great with minor amounts of compression at times which is not uncommon for most bluetooth connections. FM and AM radio works as it should, no complaints at all with sound or signal issues.
For a little bonus, I am currently running my Digital turn table setup through it to compare it to my old studio speakers and I can say besides low bass, the refernce between the 2 speakers are not far off, which to me is very impressive.
I am very happy with this radio and is is not budget sound at a budget price, it is mid teir sound at an impressive price and should definitely be at the top of your list if you need a small footprint CD and Bluetooth Radio.

Small but powerful

For such a small unit, the sound is very impressive. You have over the air radio, Bluetooth, USB drive and CD as options for audio source. Having Bluetooth capability essentially gives you the power to steam anything from phone, tablet or laptop. Really the world is your source. There is an external radio antenna cable that has a snap in connection.
The remote is very basic and easy to navigate. The range is pretty good for the remote.
Bluetooth give you about 30 feet from the source until some cracking from connection being lost.
I have Bluetooth out device that allows me to stream audio from my tv as well. This makes for a pretty inexpensive home entertainment solution.
The speaker cord is probably about 10 feet, but you can splice additional cable if needed. There are two speaker jacks on the back for left and right. Simple bare cable speaker connection, so you could conceivably add additional speakers. Not sure the 20w would handle much larger speakers though.
Overall, we are very happy with the system. We have it set up in our Florida room by the pool. I dropped one star, I can't explain why, but 5 stars seemed to be high for the functionality without an aux input or connection for other equipment like TV.

Panasonic CD Stereo System

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Panasonic CD Stereo System comes with a CD player and a built-in FM receiver. The player can also play from a USB or via Bluetooth. The power supply for the unit is a standard house electric plug. There are two wired speakers with the unit. The speakers are attached via a left and right wire clip system on the back of the unit. The FM antenna attaches to the back of the unit via a push to clip wire. The electric cord has a ferrite core separate from the cord. This attaches within 5 cm to the back of the unit. The ferrite core must snap to hold it shut. It can be removed by pulling up on the clips. For the ferrite core to properly work you need to closely follow the set-up instructions. The remote control takes one AA battery that is not provided.
The FM radio channel selector is completed by pressing the up and down arrow buttons to move the channel either up or down. To jump to the next available channel, you need to hold the button down. I could not locate and preset features for the radio. These same buttons are utilized for skipping tracks on the CD. The CD player functions are the industry standard. The playback via FM was a bit scratchy until I installed the ferrite core. This reduced some of the noise but not all. Playback through the CD, USB, and Bluetooth were better. For the size of the speakers and unit I was pleasantly surprised by the playback. This unit is portable and can be moved anywhere you have access to power without any problems.
The only problem I had was a user error setting up the Bluetooth. A quick recheck of the instructions fixed the problem.

I love everything about this portable stereo. It's small but mighty ad produces and outstanding sound. While there are more powerful systems, this system is extremely compact and provides an
array of sound options.
It was fun pulling out my favorite 80's rock and roll CD's and loading them into a system that does them justice. The setup is very easy, and the size is perfect for my shelving surface. I like the small footprint, without sacrificing sound quality. The LED readout is visually appealing and easy to read.
I haven't had a radio for years and I had been looking for an economical option that would incorporate other audio options, such as a DVD player and Bluetooth connectivity. This turned out to be the perfect solution for what I was looking for.
The remote control is an added bonus, giving me full control over the operations of the system. It is important to use the included FM antenna in order pull in local stations. Without the antenna, I wasn't able to access any stations.
The small footprint makes this the perfect bookshelf solution. The sound is impressive and don't let the small size fool you. This puts out some amazing sound.

Perfect bookshelf system for home or office
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Panasonic PM270 compact stereo system would, if not for the inclusion of Bluetooth, easily be mistaken for a product from the mid-1990s. That's not necessarily a bad thing though! While Bluetooth speakers and soundbars and the like are great, there's something to be said for a traditional stereo system, especially with a resurgence in interest in physical media. And for those with CD collections who want a small bookshelf stereo that sounds good and doesn't take up much space, this has got you covered pretty well.
The stereo system has radio (FM only), CD, and Bluetooth connectivity. I would've liked an auxiliary 3.5mm jack as an option as that would've expanded the versatility. Out of the box, setup is really easy for the most part: attach the speakers (simple spring clips; the speaker wires are fixed length) to the base, attach the FM antenna, and power cord (it includes a wraparound ferrite core to put the cord through). Just about everything can be controlled via the simple remote (one AA battery required), so you don't have to get up and manually adjust anything if you don't want. Bluetooth pairing was also very easy--I had it up and running with a Spotify stream from my Android phone in seconds.
At 20 watts (10Wx2), it's not going to blow you away, but it fills a small to medium sized room very nicely with sound. It sounded actually better than I expected--I could push the volume up without too much harshness much higher than I'd have thought. People love very compact speakers like a lot of modern small Bluetooth portable speakers, but physics remains undefeated: a larger speaker box just generally sounds better.
Does this compare with my main stereo with huge tower speakers? No, of course not. Would it fill the role of listening to the radio, streaming music, or playing CDs in a small living room or office? It's perfect for that.

Plenty of connectivity option, good for small room

This compact stereo system is quite interesting as it offers not only CD playback capability, but also Bluetooth and MP3 playback through USB drive as well as radio. The build quality is good but not great.
At 20 watts of RMS output, this stereo is not that powerful but the sound is actually enough to fill a small room, which makes it perfect for a teenager’s room. The sound quality is okay-ish, it's not that good but it's generally better than some bluetooth speakers at maximum volume.
Setup is easy and I like how compact the stereo is. The remote control does not come with a supplied AA battery, but it’s not biggie. There’s also limited option to setup the sound so there's no equalizer setting other than increasing the bass and treble. The frequency response when increasing the bass and treble is also not that good but that's no surprise from a stereo system so low in price.
What makes this stereo system shines are its simplicity, compact form factor and the variety of connectivity it provides. As a CD player, it plays one CD at a time and yes we can repeat a track to our liking. I’m quite amused that it also plays MP3s from USB drive, which is a very useful feature as many people have been converting their CD collections to MP3s for personal use in the past. I used an old USB stick laying around somewhere in the house and it worked just fine.
The Bluetooth connectivity while working just fine, is rather limited in terms of range. It has quite a short range but should be fine as long as the device and the stereo remain in the same room.
It's worth to note that it doesn’t have an alarm clock feature. But for the price, this is a reasonably good choice for those looking for something that can play CD in a small room while also providing Bluetooth and USB connectivity. If you don't like your music that loud, this stereo should be ok for the living room.

Dust off those old CDs

The 90s called and asked for their stereo back, but I'm not giving it up. To be honest, my desire for a stereo system was more nostalgic than practical. Nowadays, Bluetooth speakers combined with all the digital music options have made traditional stereo systems largely obsolete. Additionally, we no longer have a way to play the massive CD cases that we each accumulated in our teens and twenties. However, my wife and I were thrilled to be able to listen to our CD collection again.
The 20W Panasonic Stereo System is small, with the speakers standing at about nine inches tall and the stereo being a few inches shorter but having a depth of about eight inches. It was a perfect fit for our dining room shelf. The design is reminiscent of traditional stereos, made of plastic for the stereo component and particle wood for the two box speakers. The setup is straightforward, requiring only the connection of the speakers and the am & fm antenna.
Although the 20W(10W+10W) per speaker is not going to shake the walls, it gets loud enough to thoroughly enjoy. The unit produces good highs and decent lows. The Bluetooth connection is easy to set up, and we have not had any issues with connectivity within our home. The remote is compact but thick enough not to get lost on the couch.
Overall, I am pleased with the 20W Panasonic Stereo with CD, Bluetooth, and Radio. It performs beautifully, and it's a fun conversation piece.

Small unit good for small spaces

This is a 'cute' little stereo system. Equipped with a CD player and FM radio (and Bluetooth), it sort of feels like this this is meant for another era. But it is 2024, and this small system has its place in the world. The unit is very light and made entirely of plastic. Honestly, it feels a bit cheap. I'm not even sure how they made it this light. It has a basic display on the front, which is really dim. You'll be hard-pressed to see it in a bright environment. The volume knob is very stiff, and it just feels like plastic sticking to plastic. It's not a nice feeling knob at all, but it does what it needs to do (adjust volume). The buttons on the front are fine though.
The remote requires 1 AA battery, which oddly isn't included. The remote has a necessary "setup" button, which lets you change some settings, though you'll have to download the full manual using the QR code in the quick setup manual. You can set a clock, and then set an auto on/off timer, so you can have it turn on and off at set times. It also has a couple other things like equalizer presets.
The speakers have a permanently wired speaker cable that's only roughly 4ft long. That means if you want to position these further away, you'll have to twist on longer speaker cable onto the ends of the built-in ones. Not really ideal.
Sound quality is decent though for this little thing. It's not knocking down walls or anything, but for a small office, it's actually quite nice.

Pro:
Lightweight and small form factor
Plays CD, bluetooth, radio, and files on USB
Con:
Audio
This is a nostalgia device, essentially shrinking down old stereo systems from the 90’s to a lighter and more manageable size while adding some modern features like bluetooth connection and being able to play files from a USB drive.
The audio quality is what you would expect from small 2lbs speakers, which unfortunately isn’t that great. It gets the job done for what it is, but it’s muddy and weak. Cranking them past 50% and the audio starts to get worse, but it does get loud. Out of the box, the audio was bass heavy making the overall audio quality poor. After messing with the preset EQ, the “Clear” setting with the treble turned up a bit sounded best to me.
Operation is simple. CD and radio worked as they should and connecting bluetooth to stream Spotify from my phone was straightforward. Diving deeper in the setup menu definitely felt old school as you’re cycling through the one line LCD display. There’s audio settings with the EQ presets, bass, and treble adjustment. Unexpectedly there’s timer settings to schedule times to turn the system on/off.
For what it is, a simple throwback to older stereo systems, it’s fine. It’s a nice blend of old and new. For people that want to play CDs and listen to on-air radio, it’s there, but there’s also bluetooth connectivity to stream music from another device. Speaker quality isn't all that great, but it gets the job done.

Panasonic stereo system with CD Bluetooth and radio 20 watt black is a compact but surprising HIFI system. I got it for my guest room, but I immediately wanted to put it in my room. I was a lil bummed out that it only had an FM tuner, but when you're in your bedroom relaxing, you won't miss listening to podcasts or news.
I have a collection of backup CDs that I made a long time ago. While they may not be compatible with this system, it's not a deal-breaker. Thanks to its versatile Bluetooth connectivity, you can still enjoy your favorite tunes from your phone, ensuring a wide range of media options.
It also includes a remote that helps you keep the party going without getting up. This black beauty looks very good in almost any room of your home and sounds outstanding. It does not have extreme bass, but it has a very good bass response otherwise.
It's no-frills, but it gets the job done with 20 watts of power with a clock. If you have a room that needs sound, check this one out.

Panasonic Model # SC-PM270PP-K is a modern stereo system with 2) separate speakers that is ideal for a bedroom or a small office. It weighs only 8.2 lbs, yet it offers sound quality that is crisp & clear. Total power output is 20 Watts: 10 Watts / Channel.
An integrated CD player is great for playing all of the tunes in your collection from yesterday. The radio provides very good FM reception. The included remote control provides complete access to this stereo; simply add batteries to the remote (not included).
My favorite feature of this Panasonic Stereo is Bluetooth. The Bluetooth on this stereo is amazingly easy to connect to your phone or other device. Since my grandson will be the primary user of this stereo, the fact that Bluetooth connection is effortless is a huge benefit.
Dimensions:
Height: 8.8 Inches
Width: 16.1 Inches
Depth: 9.1 Inches
This stereo has a USB Type A Port located in the front to enable plugging in a USB drive as another music source. Sound can be fine tuned by the bass & treble controls, as well as by several Eq presets. The Bass Boost performs the traditional "Loudness" compensation that produces enhanced bass response at low to modest overall volume levels.
CONCLUSION: This Panasonic is an excellent music source for a small office or a bedroom, where crisp sound quality at a modest listening level is desired.

This is such a wonderful blast that keeps the past alive in the present and caters to the future as well. Let me being by saying that a giant Panasonic three full speaker stereo system I got around 2 decades back in college, the plays both the Cassette format audio and the CD, is still churning out music in my basement. Panasonic products can survive the test of time and this should not be different but only time can tell that.
This product has a much smaller footprint than the aforementioned stereo system. The design and build quality are all top notch. It has a snug fit on any shelf you choose and plays CDs! And the radio. And just to make sure that we cater to the present generation, it will seamlessly connect with your mobile devices and play your playlists with aplomb. The included remote (single AA battery) will help you to navigate through the controls and there are physical knobs and buttons that will do the trick as well. The speakers connect (Good old-fashioned Red and Black connectors) with main head with actual cables and you can arrange the system with some flexibility up your sleeve.
Sound quality is great. The low tones are fine considering that it is only 20W but I was particularly impressed with the mid-tones in my testing. The antenna works well and the FM reception was spotless. You can also use the USB connection to play your own music list. All in all, this should be highly recommended for a nice throw-back and celebration of the past with an eye for the present.
