This 4k blu ray player is perfect for people who have a tv that doesn't support dolby vision. I own a Samsung S90C OLED and it can do HDR10+ as well HDR10 it looks great with a Audioquest carbon hdmi cable with great sound quality and the price is awesome!

A little more than I wanted to spend but worth it for the quality. Very simple to set up and easy to use. Only feature missing is Dolby Vision. Make sure you use a good HDMI cable.
This is such a nice feedback and we are always trying our best to make the experience of our customers memorable. Thank you so much for taking the time to send this! -C

Love this 4k bluray player. All 4k movies look amazing. The regular bluray movies look great too almost like it's upscale them even in a regular tv that isn't 4k itself. Highly recommend this player.
Hello there! Thank you for your feedback! We’re happy to hear your gift is off to a great start and that you found excellent value with your Panasonic Blu-ray player. - S

I bought a Panasonic 820 player 5 months ago. It is the BEST player on the market now. BUT at $499 it is not that affordable for most. This player is under $200 and has MOST of the important features as the $499 one has. I purchased 2 of these for my friends and they are extremely satisfied. The Sony and LG models don't even come close, and Samsung stopped making players in 2019.
Buy this one, you will be happy.

Performance is excellent, not as many features in higher priced units but if you want 4k playback without all the bells and whistles this performs very well. Panasonic's conversion of 4k to 1080p is accomplished very well.
Hi there! We really appreciate your feedback. It's great to hear that the Blu-ray player is performing well for you, especially after your experience with other models. If you haven’t explored it yet, the upscaling feature can really enhance the picture quality of your standard DVDs. We hope it continues to be a reliable part of your setup. - S

This Panasonic Ultra HD Hi Res player has met all of our expectations. New 4 K discs are fabulous and older, blu rays are clear as a bell. No disappointments in our purchase at all.
Your 5-star rating brightened our day! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. -C

The Perfect Player

This is the best Blu-ray player I have owned. I have not used Panasonic for the last 7 or 8 years because of a bad experience. I am over it now and am well pleased with my new player. The Dolby Atmos is amazing and the picture is superior to the LG and Samsung players I own and every bit as good as a more expensive Sony I have. I am using it with a projector which makes the HDR 10+ capability important. It does not support Dolby Vision, but neither does my projector so I feel like I’ve found the perfect player for me.

I had a Sony X700 for awhile and had to switch because I constantly got perfect discs that would freeze up- which is apparently an issue with 4K in general but especially with Sony. Thus far- aside from 1 disc which had a tiny mark on it (again that's a 4K sensitivity issue not necessarily an issue with the player) I've had zero issues and am completely satisfied. The only ONLY annoyance is that there is no subtitle button on the remote, but if you have any technology sense or are a film geek, you just bring up the pop up menu. Overall very pleased!

Panasonic came through to save the day. I initially purchased the Sony UBP-X700, worked flawlessly for awhile. Then I wanted to play 4K discs and began experiencing buffering and pauses throught movies.
Purchased this Panasonic and Boom! Problem solved same 4K discs that would skip with my sony play flawlessly in the Panasonic!
Thank you for your 5-star rating! We are happy to hear you are pleased with the product. -M

I purchased this open box at a decent price. The item arrived in like new condition with all manuals and accessories.
I had some help from the Geek Squad team which delivered other items (TV, entertainment center) to do the initial connections to my Home Theater and configuration of the player.
Pros:
I was able to connect the player to my older (2016-2017) Yamaha receiver using a "pass through" method and using 4K HDMI cables, I am able to play 4K videos through the player and get excellent results.
The startup is very fast, not a lot of waiting for the player to load up...similarly when loading a disc, it reads them fairly quickly.
4K content visuals is stunning.
Surround Sound is terrific, although I did need to up the volume a tad on my Subwoofer.
Cons:
The eco/power management "features" are quite frustrating. At first, a 10 minute trip to the fridge to get a drink and a snack resulted in a paused movie shutting down completely by the player. Contacted my Total Tech agent at Best Buy who offered some setting adjustment ideas which I was able to finally locate in the convoluted menu. Now it appears I am up to about 20 minutes (e.g. take the dog out then get a drink and a snack) before it shuts everything down. By the way, there is no resume feature that I could find. So to get back to the movie, one has to go through the scenes and locate where you were.
Streaming stability (especially with 4K content) isn't nearly as good as with my Samsung SmartTV so I don't expect to do much streaming with it.
I had an incident where the player refused to read multiple discs. Had to shut it off, pull the plug from the wall, then plug back in. Once it powered back up it read those same discs and played them fine.
Final thoughts:
When it works, the results are quite pleasing (stunning with 4K content).
I'm hoping that the issues will iron themselves out, but my sample of one player has been frustrating.
Playing 4K/HD Blu Rays and DVDs, the playback is terrific as long as you don't pause it for any duration.
Bottom line, I cannot recommend this player.

Streaming works with Netflix/Prime which are readily accessible. Only added Sling TV, which connects deliberately - an issue with the service. Best part is the picture quality. Last player, a Sony, was great for viewing too and lasted over 5 years. But, new tech always provides improvements. There are likely better expensive players, but this one was purchased on sale at the time and was somewhat highly regarded in a number of tech reviews. I believe quality is an individual choice so I respond "no" to the binary choice of recommendations to friends
