Still good.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the best of the directors work but I been updating my anime collection into Blu-ray for the movies I really liked and for that it’s always worth watching paparika. It just always feels almost full realized but not completely there. Like there were 20 minutes more of ideas that just didn’t make it into the film. But definitely a good movie and I’d recommend To any anime fan as a classic for sure I just prefer perfect blue or millennium actress.

Inception in anime.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surreal story and awesome animation make this anime a mind blower to remember. Sort of a cross between inception and Ghost in the machine.

A good movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Imagine an anime Inception with more humor. It's a good movie, definitely worth watching, but, like dreams, don't think TOO deep about it!

Excellent movie by a great director
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a big fan of Satoshi Kon and this movie does not disappoint. Trippy and lots of dreams, it will excite anyone into the "weirder" films.

Beautiful and surreal- classic Satoshi Kon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone who recognizes the name 'Satoshi Kon' probably has a pretty good idea of what they're in for when it comes to watching one of his movies- or rather, that they should probably not go in expecting -anything- other than to be in for a great ride, usually with a good bit of surreality thrown in (Tokyo Godfathers being the somewhat more 'down to earth' exception to this). Paprika tells the story of a group of doctors/scientists who have developed a device to allow them to enter other people's dreams with the hopes of using them to cure psychological problems. Unfortunately, someone has stolen some of the prototypes and is using them to wreak havoc and actually break people's minds, so they (largely through the skillful dream navigation of their leader's alter-ego, Paprika) set out to recover the stolen devices and repair the damage that has been done. Satoshi Kon has a habit of playing with our perceptions of reality and twisting them around in his works, and Paprika is no exception- the dream sequences allow him ample flexibility to flex his creative muscles and conjure up some incredible visuals. Relating to his earlier works, Paprika is probably closest in nature to Paranoia Agent, though obviously with a rather nice movie budget backing it up. The voice work (at least in the original Japanese track, I haven't watched the dub), especially that of the pulled-from-semi-retirement Hayashibara Megumi (female Ranma, Lina Inverse, Faye Valentine) is top notch as well. Satoshi Kon and the original story's (the movie is based on a novel) author even have cameos. If surreal fantasy isn't your thing, this movie almost certainly for you. But fans of Satoshi Kon's previous works will be in absolute heaven, and those willing to watch it with an open mind will likely be absolutely delighted with this romp through the world of dreams.

Satoshi Kon does not fail to impress.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I'm a huge fan of Satoshi Kon so I had extremely high expectations for this movie, and I was most certainly not disappointed. I was fortunate enough to see it at Anime Weekend Atlanta, a very large anime convention held here in Georgia. The opening scene gives you the same breathtaking experience as Paranoia Agent's in that way that it makes you feel as if you're having a religious experience, haha! Susumu Hirasawa did the opening music and his voice together with Satoshi's art/directing goes together like Peanut butter and Jelly. I won't go into detail about the plot, of course, but like all his films, the story flows at perfect pace. The film is also constantly transitioning between dream and reality... it's just fascinating. If you love Satoshi Kon's other movies like Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Perfect Blue, his recent work Paprika will not disappoint you. Please purchase this movie. Please don't just download it and view it on your crummy Winamp player or whatever it is you use. Anyway, I hope everyone else enjoys this film. Thank you for reading.

imagination at it's best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you love Tokyo Godfathers, Millennium Actress, and Perfect Blue, you most definite are going to love Paprika. The art work and music are just so well put together. If it was just at least 15 or more minutes longer, from scale 1-10 it would be a ten. I give it a 9. Other wise, this is a must have!

A wonderful anime for an adult audience.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The thing that i liked most about Paprika is the way out there idea of presenting a story. It's a story about dreams and that's about all im going to give away. It's an anime that can show viewers what anime is all about ( that is if your new to it.) In my opinion if you like Akira then you'll like this one.
