Persona 5 the original version was an amazing game. This version of the game is even better, with an extended story and additional characters to interact with this is the definitive edition.
My favorite parts of this enhanced edition is the ability to skip through some of the story. They also allow for rush mode so you can put it on autopilot and have your characters fight until the battle is over. The additional story characters and new items are awesome as well.

I didn’t finish Persona 5. So my time with this was 100% amazing cause it was like playing Persona 5 for the first time. They improved the game so much, the new systems, new palace layouts, and everything they added especially Kasumi, they made everything so much better. Persona 5 was 9/10 for me, but this one for sure is my best game of all time. 150/100. I have not stopped playing it since I got it on April 1. EVERY. WAKING. MOMENT. I HAVE PLAYED IT.

As a big fan of turn-based JRPGs, I’ve become obsessed with Persona 5 Royal. The game has so much style and it looks amazing on my PS4 Pro. The fundamentals of gameplay are great and there’s a ton to do (you could easily put in 100 hours). If you’re new to Persona 5, this is the best way to experience it. And if you’ve already played P5, there’s plenty of new content and quality of life improvements that you should consider revising it with P5R!

The perfect quarantine game

Persona 5 Royal came out at the perfect time. Not only is the game ridiculously long, but because it has such a heavy focus on developing the relationships with your characters, it has really helped scratch that social itch that is difficult to achieve while under quarantine. Combat is fun and ever changing and the game is dripping in style. If you're into anime / JRPGs, you owe it to yourself to play this.

Great Additions to an Already Great Game

I have already played the original Persona 5 before I started this one, but after about 12 hours in game, I can say that this is the definitive way to play Persona 5. While its more like an enhanced version rather than a remake or rework of the base game, enough new stuff has been added or changed around to make this game feel fresh in its own way, even for someone who's already played P5. Palace reworks and enhancements, new characters and interactions with previously existing characters, and small tweaks or additions to gameplay or the story make P5R stand above the original. Plus, it appears to be running at or near 4K on a PS4 Pro, so that is a big bonus, as the original was limited to 1080p. If you're a fan of the original looking to give it another playthrough, or someone new to the game on their first run, I would highly recommend you consider playing Persona 5 Royal over the original Persona 5 game.

Original game was fantastic and this version is even better. It heavily optimized every aspect of the game from gameplay to visuals to load times. It runs much faster the original, looks much better since its not limited by the PS3 anymore, and add a lot of little things to make the overall experience the smoothest ever. The game itself is as good as ever with a great story and character.

Persona 5 Royal is the upgrade version of the RPG of the year Persona 5. With new character, story, and function in the game, P5R is now perfect Turn-based JRPG that you could ask for. You will lost track of time when you play it. Mixing the persona is so fun and you can flirt every women in the game... (seriously, every single one of them if you could manage your time tho. ^^)

I have played and loved every persona that I've ever played. the extra content that was added to an already easily 60-hour game easily puts the game into the hundred hour category. Story is enthralling and relatable and the gameplay is what you would expect of a traditional rpg. I highly suggest this to anybody even people who do not traditionally play RPG games

Amazing art style, incredible value, and a top of the line story. I bought the first Persona 5, and did not even think twice about pre-ordering the Royal Edition.
It is an absolutely phenomenal game that did not disappoint (a second time)! If you love this type of turn based combat, definitely add this to your library and get easily over 150+ hours of quarantined play time.

It took what made Persona 5 great and added a third semester, a new character in combat, and extra small sidequests and things to do. It gave enough variety that unless you played P5 Vanilla to completion shortly before playing this version, then you're gonna love the nostalgia of the original gameplay plus all the extras introduced in this version.

An absolute masterpiece. The original Persona 5 was great, but Royal adds new story elements and QOL enhancements to make your playthrough much better. I won't spoil anything, but this one truly adds a lot more. Something like 40 more hours and several new characters just to name a few. Definitely worth buying if you want to go back to the fun of being a phantom thief!

This is so awesome. New game okay story is a little different it just makes it so much more interactive as the first one. Would recommend to any RPG lovers. Really any of the persona series are great my all time favorite would be 3 special edition with the journey included. Also 4 was good but not as good as 5 and 3 FES. Enjoy it Persona will always get 5 stars for me!

For fans of Shin Megami/Persona you cannot go wrong with this game! Sleek and stylish it delivers on every front you could hope for in a JRPG. The game is incredibly long and bursting with content, the only draw back is the new content is at the very end of the game, around 100 hours in.

Persona 5 I heard was amazing so when this was announced I was interested, but I am sucker for steelbook so I had to get this particular one, and plus they have a free $10 egift card promo when purchasing this, so I managed to get everything for under $40.
I am loving the gameplay and the music and just so glad I am playing this version than the base

I’ve put 187 hours into the original Persona 5 and have been awaiting the royal version since it was announced. It’s has not disappointed at all, it has improved on everything that made the original such a great jrpg and went beyond it. The additional features aren’t just something that would have been dlc but complete reworks of certain mechanics.

Given that I thought the original was pretty much one of the best jrpgs of all time, I couldn't imagine an expanded release just three years after the release would have too much new. Surprisingly, they have revamped quite a few things, some yielding massive changes. The addition of Traits (underlying tendencies for your minions, aka Persona) means a tinkerer can now build endless new variations of their would-be army, and the new fusion alarm system (much like an expanded Full Moon events from previous SMT games - a short time super boosting of your fusions often yielding random results) keeps upping the randomness factor. The daily gameplay (maintaining your character's storyline) had minor improvements, but as I haven't played the new added chapter, it hasn't yielded much a surprise as the new persona elements have.
The end result of this release is that if you like jrpgs and you haven't played this, you absolutely should not miss out. If you did play this on release and really liked it, it has enough of a fresh coat of paint to make the purchase worth it. If you cant stand the saccarine 'I'm going to be true to myself!' style of existential conflict resolution of jrpgs...well, this one won't fix that issue.
