Customers regard Persona 5 overwhelmingly positive, particularly praising its engaging gameplay, compelling story, and memorable music. This game is so amazingly well made. There is enough content to keep your busy for 100+ hours easy. The story and cast of characters keeps you engaged the whole time. The fighting is turn based, which I love. It reminds me of the good old RPGs from back when. This is a must buy if your a PS4 owner.

I usually hate JRPG's, but P5 has changed me

I've tried to play many JRPGs like Final Fantasy multiple times over the years, but I always found those games boring and frustrating. So when the hype surrounding Persona 5 started prior to release, I didn't expect would I buy the game. One month later and it's one of my favorite games ever. I can't say enough on what makes Person 5 great, because there is so much to enjoy and so many facets to it's unique gameplay. I also don't want to spoil anything, so all I will say is Persona 5 is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had in my life. Unless you're a strict bro-shooter type of gamer, I highly suggest you give Person 5 a try. I'm glad I did.

Having played Persona games since the PS2 era, it's been great to see the developer keep core mechanics, but also build out the gameplay and keep things enjoyable. The story, music and art are great- and I found the characters even more memorable than 3 or 4. The only knock, which for others may be a plus, is this game is long. Really long, it was still enjoyable after 80+ hours, and since you are racing against a school year to complete things, the time is welcome- but I would have been fine if the core game was 10 or even 20 hours shorter.

The latest entry in the Persona series is by far the best. The story is amazing. There's plenty to explore when it comes to main and side characters. Combat system is satisfying. Soundtrack is top notch--found myself humming to it even when I'm not playing the game!

As a fan of the PS2 era Persona titles, Atluss has come back to give fans exactly what they craved. Wonderful story and gameplay elements with an awesome soundtrack gives anyone familiar with the series the feels.

I haven't played a JRPG in a very long time, but Persona 5 caught my attention with its stylish, punk-inspired presentation. The music, atmosphere, and story (so far!) are all top notch..
The developers have done away with lots of JRPG staples -- no random battles, for one. Combat is super fast, and you'll rarely fight monsters for more than a few minutes at a time.
That's saying a lot. I've played this game for over 30 hours, and I'm not even close to the finish line. Great for calm evenings.

One of the Best Games Ever Made

This game is phenomenal. I get sucked into games every once in while but rarely for more than a week. Persona 5 is different. I put in over 135 hours into it in just over a month. I have a full time job and try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night so almost 100% of my free time during that month was dumped into this game (in case you are wondering, I'm single so it didn't ruin any relationships, but it could have). I just couldn't put it down! I think one weekend I played for 16 hours straight and didn't even realize it until I checked the clock at it was 6 AM.
The characters are very well written and fleshed out, with unique personalities that evolve as you get to know them better. It's amazing how entertaining doing mundane things like studying and taking a bath are in this game. These type of activities are how you boost your social stats, and you need social stats to build character relationships, and relationships are how you unlock battle perks and abilities. It's a wonderfully balanced system that encourages you to explore every aspect of the game.
The time progression is also interesting and refreshing in this game. The battles are turn-based, which is common with JRPGs but the out of battle time is also turn based. You have a "block" or two of time per day where you can do things. Should you study and boost your knowledge skill? Or hang out with one of your friends and see if you can raise your friendship with them? Or do you craft items for your dungeon crawling adventures? The choice is yours, but you can only do one thing per block (with a couple of exceptions). This is a great system because it creates tension and urgency without being stressful or panic driven. And as the days tick by the story marches on, whether you have prepared properly or not.
The art in this game is also very well done. It's polished, beautiful, and consistent. Even the menus feel like they are straight out of a high quality comic book. Music in this game is also great. Some of the songs are very catchy and there is enough variation and variety that even after over a hundred hours of playing I wasn't tired of the music.
Bottom line:
This game is amazing! If you have a PS4, BUY THIS GAME. This is one of the this generation's must-play titles.
Bonus Fun Fact:
Even though it was released April of 2017, when I popped it in to install it, no patches. Zero. This is so rare nowadays with multi-gigabyte day one patches and patches that are larger than the game install itself. I never encountered any bugs, either. Atlus made this game right the first time and deserve praise for that.

Persona 5 is the fifth mainline entry in the series. The plot behind the game is somewhat similar to the prior game, whereas instead of working with the Midnight Channel from Persona 4, you're now exploring palaces in Persona 5. With all that said, Persona 5 will give you a very long story. Expect over 100 hours of game play. Coupled with a flashy UI and catchy soundtrack, if you're a fan of the JRPG genre, you have no excuse to not play this title.

All I can say is: if you like RPGs then buy it, full stop. Turn-based RPG combat with a great story and fun (though sometimes annoying) characters with plenty to do and seemingly not enough time to do it.

Persona 5 is a Turn based, life simulator, anime. A lot of people may be turned off by that but this is a game you must try before you judge. The story is fantastic, gameplay is fun. One half of the game, you will be living above a coffee shop, going to school (to level up your social abilities), get a part time job (money) and establishing relationships (potentially romantic). The other half is infiltrating the hearts of the corrupt (Zelda styled dungeons) and eliminating their darkest desires via cinematic turn based gameplay.
If you are worried about length, the game's story, not including the side content, is over 100 hours long...
And the soundtrack is legendary.

If you are familiar with Shin Megami Tensei and the series then you know the style and context of this storyline and the mechanics that have given it a cult following. Nocturne was my intro. to the series.
Persona 5 has taken the series to another level of RPG that has polish to spare.
What separated this game from others is the level of thought that went into certain aspects of the design and the sophistication. It isn't perfect and there were some missed opportunities to take animations up a notch with only a bit more variety.
Still, expect to be heavily invested. This isn't a lightweight RPG. I am also playing Torment: Tides of Numenera which is also a mature RPG albeit a different sub-genre.
Basically, buy this game if you enjoy investing in a game beyond some hack and slash dungeon crawl and like Japanese anime.
You won't be disappointed. The beginning may seem hoaky but after the first 30 hours You will settle into this new slice of gaming reality and start to enjoy the deeper aspects of gameplay.

If you followed the Persona games Atlus just has been getting better and better and this game is just amazing from story to side plots, to the small humour that japanese manga and tv shows are known for. Persona 5 is long and grueling to grind through but it is one of the most rewarding in that aspect. For those who have never played think of it as a turn based rpg based on monster acquistions with a school/life sim, more to it of course but thats the base at least. I loved it, and as proved it won rpg of they year at the VGA! Thank you Atlus!

This is my second SE game, after NieR Automata, but probably should have started with this one. Still, a very enjoyable game, with a different plot for an RPG. The controls take a little time to get used to. The graphics are still high level and the soundtrack is very, very good.

I was a big fan of Persona 4 Golden, and I think Persona 5 might be better. The major improvements to the dungeons make this a much more enjoyable experience. Dungeons used to be a slog that I dealt with in Persona 4 in order to get to the good characters and story, but Persona 5 is solid in every aspect. Combat is more stylish and snappy than ever. While I prefer the characters from Persona 4 I think there’s still a lot to love with the characters in Persona 5. A definite recommendation to anyone who has enjoyed a JRPG.

Deep story, with great game play. Mature themes littered with comic relief. Old style RPG dynamics and collection type gameplay mix to make a great experience. Be prepared for long story arcs, and hard themes. Casual short game play does not mix well with this 80+ hour game.

I always loved jrpg's ever since the PS1 but the genre hasn't been that great since mid ps3 generation. The social link simulator aspect of the persona series has kept me away from the series all this time but since I was looking for a good JRPG series I though I might as well give it a try after giving other series a try that I normally wouldn't touch.
I still don't like the social link simulator part of the game but it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would on a first time playthrough. Very good story, character interactions, and gameplay, and especially presentation. Game even provides difficulty settings and a new game plus. Sank 180 hours into the game and came out loving it.
I only regret one thing and its that I didn't get to fight the strongest boss in the game since it was locked behind new game plus. Great experience but I would not replay the game because of the social link simulator part of the game that eats up majority of your time. Still anyone who likes JRPGs should play this game.
