Customers are saying

Customers value the SmartFeeder for its convenience and ease of use. However, there are concerns about its reliability, with some customers reporting that their feeders have broken down and have not been fixed for months. Others have mentioned that the feeder sometimes spins its mechanism but doesn't dispense kibble.

    Refurbished? Cant connect to EERO

It was shipped in a brown box with simple black outlines of the product on the outside. No marketing art or colors on the outside as some of the things you would find in store sitting on the shelf displayed to look nice and catch your eye. After unboxing i noticed that the glossy plastic areas has a lot of microscratches like it was previously owned and wiped down with microfiber cloth and repackaged and sold to me. The unit is not connecting to my EERO Wifi b.c it only recognizes the 2.4 band and the EERO does not allow me to split the 2.4 and 5 ghz band to connect the unit. So far not the product i expected to receive and not working.

Not only is the company out of business, but the product does not work. Mine has been broken for almost 6 months and no one can fix it. PetNet is the worst company to get involved with. I suggest you go to PetSmart or another pet store for a not so smart feeder.

This product was so awesome when it worked. I could have Alexa feed my cat, remotely check from my phone if the cat was fed with no worries. During quarantine Petnet shut off their servers with no warnings at all and completely shut down as a company. They didn’t respond to anyone on Twitter regarding the issue. Very happy I had a protection plan on this and returned the item. What is sad is I can’t find anything else like this. Such a shame.

Instead of crying in my ear and stepping on my face at 5am, my cat is running to the kitchen. I have been replaced as my cat's favorite in the household by this feeder, but that's okay by me. It is really nice to know if I'm gone for extended periods of time my cat is still being fed and happy! I had an issue initially connecting this to wifi, but customer service was easy and I haven't had any issues since. This machine is really reliable! The app is pretty simple and easy to use too. 10/10 would recommend

This machine works for a bit, but then it stopped working and wouldn't feed. The spinner sounded like it was spinning, but did nothing. Best Buy accepted the return. DO NOT BUY

The best thing ever for my cat and me! I sometimes am in a rush out the door in the morning and forget so I can always feed my cat on the go or have it on a set schedule which works out great!

Great product to control your dog’s eating. As well as helping you feed your dog when you’re away at work.

It's got potential - but unreliable.

I owned the first gen of this product and I loved it. It lived a good life (used it for our aggressive eater, american pit bull) and after time it was ready to be replaced (2yrs). So naturally we bought the next gen and it was same as before, easy to connect, load, set up for our dogs daily meals and done. But then we noticed the machine wouldn't alert us when the dispenser was empty. And then it'll sometimes spin it's mechanism but won't dispense her kibble. We're typically home for her feedings so we're lucky to be able to check to see she's being fed, but for people who rely on their dogs meals on this feeder, it's got some work still. We fill it once a week, routinely. And we monitor when it dispenses her food. I give it a solid 4 for convenience, but a 3 on reliability.

This thing doesnt not work at all. I tried for a month. It feeds my cat randomly. Doesnt actually work either. The remote feed doesnt work. The push button on it doesnt work. The app is horribly made and doesnt work. I strongly advise best buy to stop carrying this brand and this product. Just wow

Not worth it Worst Customer service & Product

When looking at reviews from multiple sites I decided to purchase Petnet - Smartfeeder for my cat. We wouldn't be using it all the time just when traveling. So the first time we used it was this weekend Christmas weekend. We were traveling out of town. So I wanted to make sure it worked so I started it up a few days prior to us leaving. It worked pretty good. So I was ok we can trust this when we are gone. The second day we were gone I got a notice that the feeder didnt feed our cat. So I called customer serivice right away and emailed them. They finally got back to me 12 hours later but I didnt have my phone next to me so they left a message once I got there message I called back and left another message and nothing back and it been 5 days. So after the 1 full day we had to fly back and get to our cat that wasn't being feed. So the reason I am giving it 1 star is cause I cant give it ZERO stars. Worst customer service and the product is junk. Do not buy.

    Super Unreliable and slow

This is a really great idea, but very very poorly executed. It is so unreliable that the company itself suggested putting a NEST camera in front of it so you can see your dog eating, and make sure they were actually fed. The problem they have is all related to the way this product works and the cloud implementation. Right now their cloud is so overwhelmed that feeds constantly fail simply because they don't have enough processing power to make the latency lower. If they would invest in their infrastructure they wouldn't have this problem.

Went on week vacation. Did not work. Yet it said it fed cat daily. Luckily had someone to check on cat. Only had 6 months. Some days it would say feeding occurred although I watched as nothing came out. Agree with other reviews. Do not buy.

Went through 2 units and probably 4 hours of time on calls to customer service. My poor dog was starved several days. The company admits there are design problems but will try to string you along until the warrantee is over. I do not trust them any more. Save yourself the nighmare

Petnet has folded up service - do not buy!!

They had service issues before the Covid Crisis, now they are crying broke and shut down servers controlling the devices with no time frame of restoring service, AND they want to start charging! I'm sorry, but if you had a history of having good service and then wanted to start charging a monthly fee, that's one thing, but what youve shown is you are incapable of providing the quality of service that your customers pets rely on. I am hoping someone comes up with a hack or software to resurrect these feeders in spite of your company's incompetence.

I love my Petnet. My cat goes pet nuts fur it! I head down to Galveston for weekends and the SmartFeeder takes care of feeding Jerome. I can check the feedings from my phone. It's perfect. Don't have to spend money on a sitter.

Bought this and have not had a problem using it for my cats. Works well whether I am at home or on the road. Connects easily, lets me know when bowl is low. Only problem is that I may need to get two as my cats are not big on sharing one bowl!
