Assuming you have an Echo or some kind of smart compatible device that accepts voice commands, this product is so convenient and it just plains works as it should. I have these lightbulbs in my bedroom and it makes it easy when you’re already comfortable in bed to turn the lights off. The 2nd best feature is the dimming feature which you can also control through Alexa. Highly recommend this product.

Bought the starter pack and now I am in love with Philips hue. So much so I just went and added a color hue. My favorite is iftt app I can dim the lights when my headache come back. Or for my dad I can have them go off when the doorbell rings. And so much more. The only downside is having to name every light because if you tell your smart device to turn on the lights it will turn them all on.

Has everything you need to get started if you are new to the smart and wireless lighting solutions. Works better if using it on lamp or lighting source without a light switch unless paired with the Phillips Hue wireless switch (sold separately of course); using a combination of the phone app an actual light switch can mess with its functionality. It works great with a smart assistant like Alexa.

Am using these on my covered porch lights where I could not find an automatic dusk/dawn control sensor solution due to tinted glass globes. I bought these bulbs, paired them with my router and then added the IF app to automatically turn the lights on at dusk and off at dawn. The lights work well. The IF app has worked about 90% of the time in the month I've been using it. Not sure why some nights it doesn't function correctly but that's the app, not the lights themselves.

I had previously used TCP lighting which was difficult to set up and even more difficult to use and keep functioning. I scrapped the TCP and spent a lot of time researching available programmable lighting system. I selected the HUE system. The hue lighting system was easy to set up and program, has virtually limitless lighting options, and has been very reliable.

I love it. I can turn my lights on or off from anywhere. I have this started kit and added a few additional lights and connected to my google home account(unnecessary but extra convenient). Through the Phillips app I can turn lights from anywhere. My most used is turning them off when I leave the house or go to bed. Adding the google home control(it will also work with Alexa) allows voice control. So now when I go to bed or to leave the house I simply say hey google turn off all the lights and it’s done. Super convenient, no walking around flipping switches for me. I also love the fact that I can now dim lights without wiring a dimmer switch to fixtures(which can be problematic with led anyway). The app is easy to use if you don’t won’t to add google or Alexa it would still be awesome.

I am a full time student and work full time. As such, I wake early and stay up way too late reading and my sleep schedules get thrown off like crazy. I decided to go on a room-by-room journey of hacking my natural melatonin production through the use of lighting controls. And I'll be honest, it's turned into an addiction. I love the hue line and can't say enough good things about them. OK so this particular starter kit, I returned because I wasn't quite sure at first what I was looking for. I started with my bedroom as my first room for smart lighting. I thought at first I only wanted warm tones (and to also save some money)... but it turned out I wanted cool tones too, because it was super helpful for "energizing" me out of bed in the morning. I use the cooler range to help lull me to sleep at night. There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with the white kit, it will save a bit of money if you're just getting started. Me personally, I like the range of the ambiance kit best but it does get pricey fast... and there's some places (like closets or a bedroom) where you don't need blue toned lights. So my advice, is really think about what you are trying to accomplish and use the bulbs in this kit in a room where you want warmer tones. You can always add on later if you like.

This is an excellent way to extend your Philips Hue system at a very reasonable cost. These bulbs are only twice the cost of a typical LED bulb with more then 2 the capabilities. I started with the 2 bulb starter kit and I now have more then 20 installed.

Nice start to smart home. Easy to install but make certain you have an outlet and router nearby. Bulbs can be controlled as a group or individually. The ability to change brightness via voice is nice. Setting "scenes" for different environments is a nice feature I hadn't considered prior to purchase. Such as lights at 20% to watch a movie.

Easy to setup and works flawlessly with Alexa. Highly recommended!

It was very easy to link the PH hub and the lights. Once they were linked I added them to my Logitech Elite remote and programmed different rooms and scenarios. Once I had these working, I added them to Alexa. I can know tell Alexa to turn on lights when my hands are busy (in kitchen over sink). I can also tell Alexa to turn on my bedroom light while I am in the living room so when I go to the bedroom the light is already on. The one thing I wished PH had was real light switches like Lutron. Where I have only one light bulb I want to control, like a light on my bedroom night table, it is great. But I would rather have a real switch which could be controlled by PH for areas where I have several lights on a circuit. Then I could use regular light bulbs (not smart ones). Either way, PH works great!

Cool lights for the house they are very bright and easy to use

I purchased this Starter Kit as well as a recessed light. The installation was so quick and easy, I am very impressed. I love the iPhone app as well as the fact that I easily intergrated the lighting controls in with my Xfinity Home app. I setup automatic on and off times in the app, but I can still easily adjust the features from my phone at anytime from anywhere. I used the recessed light for over my front door. I set it up to turn on at sunset and shut off at sunrise. I set the light level at my desired custom dimmed setting, but I can easily turn the brightness up when I receive an alert from my Ring Doorbell. I will be converting many more lamps soon! I am very happy with this investment. I am looking forward to even more!

I LOVE these and decided to give them as a gift. They were an instant hit! They can be controlled through an app on your smartphone.tablet or through the amazon/google assistant. Great for anyone from the tech savy to the tech challenged. A breeze to set up and control.

We were interested in the next generation Philips smart lighting hub and capabilities. This current generation allows for easy control of up to 50 smart bulbs, is compatible with Apple Home app and comes with 2 white A19 smart bulbs which are a nice addition to a Tiffany lamp in master bedroom. In addition to the several Smart Device apps, there are a number of options available on the Apple Home app for easy programming. We already had 4 color ambiance smart bulbs installed in family room. The options for lighting control were uninterrupted and have become easier to navigate. We will continue to add smart bulbs to other rooms in our home. They are LEDs and should last exponentially longer than traditional incandescent light bulbs.

My original intentions of purchasing this product was to be able to conveniently dim our living room lights when watching movies. After throwing in a disc and plopping on the couch I would always forget to turn off the lights. Our light fixture has a dial to dim the light, however, it was in a spot that you can't easily get to. I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this kit and I decided that pairing the kit with an Amazon Echo was a great start to converting our home into a Smart Home. The fact that I can turn on/off lights, change brightness levels and set different alarms with the App/Echo has changed our lives. After about 1 week of having the setup I was convinced that we need more bulbs. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is considering converting to a Smart Home.

Being an electrician and automation expert/programmer I was stuck on the belief that I needed an uber expensive high end hard wired lighting control system like Lutron or Crestron... but thats not the case at my house except for maybe a few special outdoor fixtures (500 watt halogen floods). I had a Hues starter kit and Amazon Echo Dot functioning together in 10 minutes- this includes unpackaging, dowloding apps and setup! "Alexa dim Living room lights to 20%" and it happens quicker than if I stopped what i was doing, got up and did it myself. There is a ton of functionality via their app too but i haven't had a chance to mess with it. Oh I have Siri or Alexa "turn on bedroom light" from bed so i can see to get up! I will ne buying more of these.

I purchased this to go with an amazon echo we purchased so we would be able to tell Alexa to dim the lights at night and to turn them on when we get home. We loved them so much, we purchased another to go with the in laws Google Mini. It works perfect with both systems. Little background on the product- purchase this set then you can just buy more philips hue light bulbs to go with it to control more. You need this set though for the control hub that comes with it to control the light bulbs. Once setup you can tell your Alexa / Google to turn lights on in certain rooms, dim them, etc (setup can be done with the philips hue app or through the alexa app / google home app). Highly recommended.

The setup was amazingly easy and also pairs well with my echo dot. I have had no problems so far with this product.

Some people may say it's lazy and maybe it is. I just love being able to tell me Echo to turn the lights on or of or adjust them to any setting I want. Set them to turn on and off at times or even to sense when you are near and turn on ! Simple to install and use ( AMEN) a must have for any home !
