I purchased 3 of these bulbs for above the kitchen island and 2 for our bedside lamps.
Pros:
-Good color
-Compatibility and usability is great
-IFTTT controllability is endless
-I say better in threes to achieve full scene setting capabilities since some in the app require it.
Cons:
-Difficult to get uniformed color controlling individually with the app (app's fault more than likely).

After getting my first Philips Hue package with the controlling unit and three bulbs, I got totally addicted and have purchased several more of those bulbs and replaced existing lights with these new ones. I cannot tell how happy I am with the colored light I can get out of these bulbs. I have programmed different themes and the lights change their color to whatever atmosphere I would like to have and they just put a smile on my mouth every time I turn them on. I find the whole Philips Hue system amazing and I just love it! I will never go back to the boring standard bulbs ever again. Thank you Philips!
I attach an image of the light. The camera was not able to catch the real light of the bulbs (they look white in the image, while they all actually have different colors), but at least you can see the color cast on the wall.

I've added about a dozen bulbs and light strips in my living room.
One nice feature is the ability to control with the Harmony TV remote. I can have the TV backlight (Hue Light Strip) turn on/off with the TV.
Also controllable with Apple Watch

I love Phillips Hue Lights. I have them work with my Amazon Echo. I coordinate the lights to match my home decor. The blue color isn't as intense as the 3rd generation, but overall still a good light.

Got 3 of these for my living room to add to the starter kit that came with the Hue Lux white lights. Connected no problem after searching and pairing. They provide plenty of light, actually can be too bright if at 100% brightness and ask Siri to set lights to white or sunlight, colors are good too. I've seen other brands and Hue is by far the best, easiest to setup/customize/use especially if you have Apple devices(Siri) and the most reliable. Next would be GE and Cree which I believe work with the Hue hub but I couldn't find any color bulbs from them. All in all these are good and the only downside is 60$ a pop.

Great (but expensive) lights!

These lights are awesome! Having the changing colors is really neat, however it's expensive. If you're looking for generic white lighting, I'd recommend the cheaper white bulbs. On the other hand, LED lights last a really long time, so it was still worth it for me. Tons of apps/themes/color palettes to choose from.
If you have an Amazon Echo, these will integrate with it via the Philips Hue Hub. They will also ties into other home automation products.

Pros:
Easy install. Comes with: (3) light bulbs, (1) ethernet hub for the bulbs, (1) ethernet cable, (1) power cable for the hub. Screw in each light bulb, plug in the hub to the router, connect to app and you're set. You can use them as a regular light bulb, if you wish, by operating the light switch. Design great party backgrounds and use fun apps for the holidays.
Cons:
Hard to connect with Amazon Echo until it updates. Had to do a work around with the Wink app, even then it was very tricky.

Like many new electronic products that I setup myself there can be a scare that it is not going to work at first. Plus this requires downloading the smart app to the smart phone. You can start reading the instructions if the quick guide does not help right away. Just make sure you have a wi-fi router that allows ethernet connections, and you do not have to be connected to the internet to get started, just have your wifi router on and giving those automatic DHCP network addresses.
Once the connection is establish one must learn how to use the smart app. This will take a few minutes of some trial and error or good instructions. Once it is learned the rest is imagining how you want to use the lights. The app has a timer and alarm that allows you go choose your Hue lights and use a timer to turn them on or off after a certain amount of time, or use the alarm to turn them on or off at a specific time with an option to use a random time up to plus or minus a half hour of your specific time. With this you can use the app as a day/night automatic light feature and all, plus to turn scenes on for a certain amount of time. Scenes are options that allow you to program the Hue light to have a certain color and change colors for different times or dim the light. I have two lights on the balcony and back door porch that are yellow at night.
There are other apps that can be downloaded designed with some advanced light shows. I used a celebration app to give a light show during the Christmas holiday season.
This is about a 4.5 point excellent app, because it is not perfect. Some improvements in the smart apps can be done, however it is a great replacement for the inconsistent remote control light device that I have used for years. This one always turns the lights on at the time I programmed once it is programmed correctly. It needs to have an outside motion detector with video camera to completely replace my old remote control device.

First I have to say they are pretty pricey if you are needing many lights. I caught them on sale $10 off which made me feel like a bargain. Anyways I digress. These truly are great with the ability to dim, turn on/off and change colors from your phone. I also have the iWatch app and it is pretty cool. You can also setup geofencing to turn on lights when you arrive home. The little hue logo pops up on my watch to tell me the lights have came on. They are worth it if you can justify the expense. I've had some bulbs 3 years now and they still work fine. There are a lot of apps out there that use the lights. After a few drinks with friends over we turn on the disco lights and it's a dance party of foolish extents. So if you want to show off your awesome new dance move buy these lights.

I have been using the Hue line for a year now and love having control of lights and colors to display my moods in my home. A person gets tired of just the standard white lights, so its great to change of room to a color to just relax in. I also like the fact that the bulb is smaller, just wish they would stop making everything so expensive when trying to complete a home setup. Shouldn't have to break the bank, should be better two or three package deals instead of just one at cost each time you purchase. Once you pay for the kit, you are stuck with ala cart.

I bought this lights for the living room. They have excellent white light, the colors are very good, except for the green, it does not produce a very green light. Blue and Red and all combinations of the two of them are great. The Hue App is limited, but there are others that help. I love the programability for time and colors. They fit very well in the lamp cage and the light is uniform. I gave it a 4 because of the green color and the limited features of the HUE app. Feels like they left the development of the features to the public...

Alright, so I got these lights to kind of spice up my apartment a little bit. Also, I really am peculiar about lighting so being able to adjust it seemed like a cool option. I know there are cheaper options out there; however, I decided to give this a try. The lights are awesome, they can change to any color you want. You can set your own color pallet or download a picture and have the lights kind of emulate the color scheme of the picture and it actually works pretty well. You can set alarms/reminders with the app and it works like a charm, just as you would on your iphone or android clock app. The area where this falls short is once you extended the lights, the app does not do such a great job of extending the lights. You can control them all just fine, but if you try to use one of the preset "scenes", as they call them, it does not bring the extended lights along for the ride sometimes. You have to manually adjust their color to match the others. The other aspect of this that was kind of a let down was one you choose a color from their color pallet, you cannot refine the color. This should be a simple software fix, but we'll see. Other than that, its all a great system and the lights are fantastic. You can also adjust brightness or any of the colors.

Really cool technology, being able to set "mood" lighting or just being able to create softer or harder light depending on what you are doing. Easy to setup, and with the newest bridge you can use Siri and Homekit to change scenes in your house. They really should be cheaper though, 60 bucks is a little tough to swallow for a lightbulb.

My parents bought me the Hue starter pack a couple of years ago and we have been adding a few hue bulbs here and there. This is a high quality light that can make most colors. We usually keep them on a shade of white but some of our scenes have some lights that are color accent lights. We love having the lights set to a wake up alarm. It is so much more natural waking gradually with light rather in pitch black to loud noises. You can set the timers to gradually turn on or off over a long or short amount of time. We could live without them but why? It's 2016 and if the technology is there and you have a little extra money then why not?

Quick Summary
Great WiFi connected lights that can change color and can be controlled with a smart phone.
Background
I ordered these lights for my media room and PC gaming room. They fit the standard lightbulb socket, however they did not fit with the glass cover that went over the light fixture. I had to pick up a couple different ones from Fleet Farm.
Features
They are WiFi lights and can be controlled with a smart phone through numerous apps. The default app is very feature rich, but does lack some functions like nice customizable widgets (I use and android phone). Many of the non-Philips apps do require you to purchase them, but many of them provide advanced features (Some features are: blinking lights to songs, or a set sequence, changing ambient lighting based on the dominant color displayed on a TV). The lights feature a full range of colors and they provide enough light to light up a room. They are also dimmable through the app. They provide excellent ambient lighting for watching movies and playing games. The default app also has different color modes that are supposed to help with reading, relaxing, and energizing to prevent eyestrain during specific activities. Though I just have my default lights set at a standard soft white light and my default ambient lighting is green and purple (my personal preference). Although I have to say I change the lights to orange and dimmed them while I played The Division for the first time and that really added to the game's theme. The color range is very nice however, I did notice that the green color does kind of wash out to be more yellow which is unfortunate as green is my favorite color. It isn't bad by any means, just not as "green" as I would want (that is why I took 1 star off). It is pretty cool that I am able to change the colors of the lights and turn them off from my bed or the couch. You can also have the lights set to turn on at a specific time so if you are away from home, the lights can come on. Some cool things that I've read about, but haven't done yet are: the ability to turn your lights on or off while away from home and the ability to set the lights to triggers. The triggers are things like phone calls, texts, or emails.

These bulbs are perfect you won't be disappointed... And your going to want them in every room. They can be set to really bright as well to really dim and in between. Colors, sun light, and natural lighting all in one bulb. I love being able to turn my lights on before getting out of bed compared to having to fumble around in the dark, and then not having to get up before going to bed to turn them off at night ..its great. They can all be controlled by your phone and changed to any color or brightness setting in seconds.

Added this bulb to my other hue light collection. Works well with the app but the App could be improved so there are many 3rd party apps that work well instead. The price of the bulb could be lower, so I'm giving it 4/5 stars.
