I recently decided to change out the ceiling fan in my living room for an actual light but, since I have an older house, there was no switch from which I could turn on a light. I didn't want to have a pull-chain fixture, since it is the living room, so I started looking at controllable bulbs. I'm a lighting control system designer by trade, so I'm familiar with many of the different product available, as well as the manufacturers. I deal with Philips a lot for my job, and know them to be a quality manufacturer of LED lighting products, which is why I decided to try the Hue system first. The hardest part was finding the parts in stores since nobody seems to have the individual bulbs in stock. I wound up getting two basic dimming kits and a third bulb kindly handed over by a shopper who was looking for an individual colored bulb. Pairing the devices together was so easy, and my mother *loves* how bright and beautiful the living room is now. The light is on the warmer side, the bulbs dim nicely (down to 5%) and this was far cheaper than hiring an electrician to run a switch for us. My only criticism is the documentation in the box is too minimal. If you want to actually pair additional parts, you need to go to the Hue website.

The Phillips Hue system is intuitive and easy to use, and the dimmer switch is no different. Sync to your Hue Bridge, mount to a wall (or use as a remote) and you’re done!

I needed to remotely activate a ceiling hung light because I was placing furniture in front of the light switch. I searched for over a month but everything that was remote was only for plug in lamps, ceiling fans, or required expensive hubs and smart phones. It seemed like technology had made the plain remote switch an oddity...everybody wants to sell you stuff for your smart phone. When I finally found this bulb I was a little suspicious (my previous purchase at a Home hardware store turned out to be another bait & switch item that required a hub). This was a better solution than i could have hoped for as it was simple, wireless and LED. The remote to the bulb meant I didn't need something that had to transmit through furniture to reach the switch in the wall and the bulb hanging down obviously has the benefit of easy reception of signal. The dimmer function was a happy extra feature but even better was the wall plate with high power magnets. The magnets on the back of the plate are designed to hold the remote in place but it doubled in function for me because I could simple place the plate on my computer desk magnetically. right where I need the remote switch. There is no need to do anything technical to set this up, simply screw in the bulb, turn on the existing wall switch and then control the light from the remote. I'm extremely pleased with this system and I have always liked & trusted Phillip's products.

    Replaced the bathroom lights

We have one of those vanity mirrors in our bathroom with 10 bulbs. It got way too hot when they were on for too long and way too bright for middle of the night bathroom runs. This switch and hue lights give me the control I want. I only use 6 bulbs in the bathroom now since these are brighter than my old bulbs. At night I turn off all bulbs but one at the lowest dim possible as a perfect night light.

Was not able to locate the wiring to my pull chain switched ceiling light to add a dimmer or even a light switch. Put in this light and stuck the well thought out wall plate mount on my wall and problem solved. I was able to connect it all to my Hue hub and Harmony Home Hub fairly easily as well (but I'm fairly techy). Very pleased with this. I ended up saving money buy using some new technology, it usually works the other way. It would have cost me a lot to get an electrician to add a traditional dimmer in my living room.

I bought this to add to my ongoing set up of Hue lights though-out my house. My son complained he wanted the ability to turn his light off and on at his discretion. I would say this works great for an ongoing bigger set up or just by it's self. For example, i have a room where the door opens the wrong way and makes it difficult to enter the room. It should have been installed to open the other direction. The only problem with that is, if I reinstall it to open the other direction, toward the wall, it will cover up the light switch. This was the perfect solution. I installed a new door to open toward the wall that covers up the light switch, installed this bulb and taped this switch where it is convenient to get to when I open the door. It's perfect. I like that i can take the remote off the base plate and have it with me and then put it back on the base when i leave. It's a wonderful dimmer light so when I'm watching TV I can dim the light. Sometimes the remote doesnt work immediately and I have to point the remote at the light. No biggie.

I wanted to add on another two Hue lights and figured that this was a bulb + switch! If you don't already have a Philips Hue hub/bridge, you can use this switch as the dimmer and on/off since it's already paired. However, if you do have a hub/bridge (like me) already, you can add this switch to your system and have an additional wireless switch that you can put anywhere! The base of the switch has magnets so we've currently got it on the fridge out of the reach of the baby! The bulbs are standard Philips Hue white/dimmable bulbs and work great. Just add them to your system and/or scenes and you're ready to go.

I waited along time for these dimmers to finally come out. I keep going into BestBuy looking for them and they never had on there display after seeing hey was suppose to have in store from online. When I finally asked if they had someone brought from the back. I purchased one to ensure it would work as directed. Installation and setup was flawless and works as directed. I have now purchased 5 dimmers to controls lights instead of switches in my home.

I have 11 hue lights in three separate rooms so these dimmer switches really do the trick for a quick room shut off whether or not I have my phone nearby. It is also great for guests that are not tied into my system. I recommend these highly!

To be able to remotely control your Hue bulbs, either in the next room or the next town, you need to ensure they have constant power. However, you still want the convince of being able to turn your lights on or off easily when you enter or leave a room. This Hue wireless dimmer fits the bill perfectly. With both On/Off buttons, as well as dimmer buttons for both decreasing/increasing the brightness, you have the complete control you are looking for. Very easy to setup and install. It is also important to note that you do not need to use the switches for the included bulbs. It is VERY easy to un-pair from the included bulb, and then pair with another Hue bulb or set of bulbs (including the color bulbs) you already have installed (which is exactly what I did).

I found this one day as I was walking around my local Best Buy and thought it looked interesting. I have several of the Hue color bulbs, and a dedicated switch would come in handy, but the only thing Phillips had was the $60 one that had three switches and seemed large. This one is the size of a normal wall switch and has several options for mounting and use. It is three parts, base plate, which can be mounted to the wall with screws. The magnet plate, which attaches to the mounting plate and the switch itself, which nestles in the magnet plate or can be used as a small remote. Right out of the box, the switch assembly will magnetically attach to a metal surface and is ready to use. The bulb is pre-paired with the switch. Just screw in the bulb and turn it on, no hub required. If you do have a hub and other bulbs, you can use this switch to control those as well. Once you add the switch as an accessory, you can select which bulbs the switch controls. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the instructions to un-pair from the single bulb and to pair with the hub wasn't included with the package. I had to search the Phillips site to find out how to do it. Once that was done, it was smooth sailing. So far, the switch has been 100% reliable.

Although Hue bulbs could be controlled through Alexa, Siri, Google and Hue apps, it would be handy to have this dimmer switch especially some members of the family are not ready for the "modern times" and still looking for a switch to turn on and off the light! the switch is absolutely easy to install. No hole to drill (well, except if you want to mount the plate by drilling holes), no wires to run, just peel off the two tape strips on the back of the plate and stick it to a location you want. You can also take the switch off the plate and use it conveniently as a on-off remote. I would highly recommend the dimmer switch.

It's simple and it works. The remote is super handy to have around especially not having to get up out of bed to turn off the lights when you're ready to pass out has improved my sleep time by at least 30min. Also it dims down low enough to a subtle reading level. Overall this simple bulb has made a great improvement in my sleep schedule.

I was having difficulty wiring a smart switch into my basement 3 way switches because all of the smart switches require a Neutral wire and my 3 way switches were wired without a neutral. I was about to pay an electrician several hundred dollars to run new wires when I discovered this switch. CAVEAT: You need a Philips Hue Hub to use this product. (Which I already had). The switch uses an internal battery (supplied) and requires no external power. The switch mounts to the wall easily with provided tape on the back of the switch plate. And get this, the switch is held in magnetically and can be removed from the switch pate to act as a remote. The switch pairs easily and can be set to control multiple Philips hie bulbs, on/off and dimming. Also you can easily add multiple switches to control the same lights. I currently have two controlling my basement lighting, one at a garage entrance and the other at the top of the stairs. I'm probably going to add a third switch at the foot of the stairs. Besides the switch being a great product at a great price, Philips has added a bonus of $5 off of the the bulb when you buy the combination.

I started automating my lights because I wanted to be able to turn the lights in my kitchen off from my bedroom. That worked so well, I thought I'd also replace the ceiling fan lights in my living with Hue bulbs. The only problem with Hue bulbs is that you must leave the light switch on. My wife didn't like the idea of having to use Google Home or an app on her phone to turn the lights on and off. "What if we have guests?" she said. So I bought the dimmer kit. Super easy to set up. Just go into the Philips Hue app and search for the dimmer switch. It comes right up and you tell it which lights you want it to control and you're done. Switch does on/off, dim/bright, and also lets you select up to 4 different scenes by pressing the ON button multiple times. Also, the dimmer switch is like a remote so you can take it out of it's holder and take it with you. Has magnets in the back of the base plate and the back of the remote to keep them together when you put the remote back in the base plate. Also, bought some $2 switch guards so I don't accidentally turn off the power to the Hue bulbs.

Got this for my living room lights since I felt they were too bright at times and did not want to have to bother wiring a dimmer switch (nor did I have the skill or want to pay anyone for it). So all I had to do was get this kit and viola, I have a dimmer switch(more like a remote). Was extremely simple to associate additional light bulbs with the dimmer switch, and no hue bridge is required for this dimmer switch to function.

My fiancé has an old pull chain hallway light fixture with no switch on the wall and the chain kept breaking. Rather than hiring an electrician to run wires through the plaster walls (or being brave enough to do it myself) in order to have a wall switch we bought this genius of a product. You literally just screw it into the existing fixture and the remote is already paired up with it for instant usability!! Bright, dimmable reliable light! Worth every penny!
