Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Hue White A19 LED Starter Kit's ease of use, brightness control, and compatibility with smart home systems like Apple HomeKit and Alexa. Many appreciate the simple setup and the ability to automate lighting schedules. However, some customers find the price to be a significant drawback, and a few have experienced issues with the app's functionality and the range of the bridge. The overall experience is positive for most users, but potential buyers should consider these minor drawbacks.

    Automate your lighting

Now that I figured out how to set It up, I love the system. First off you have to plug the hub into your router and a power source. Each light bulb is numbered 1-4. You have to figure out which one they are by using them because they are not physically labeled. Go to routines to program them on and off. To turn them off or on while you are away you have to link it to your home assist app ie google. And turn on or off through that program. It doesn’t work through the hue app unless you are within Home router distance so not good for operating away from home. Once you figure these things out I love it.

    Easy intro to smart lighting

If you're looking for a super-easy path into smart lighting for your home, this kit is it: you get a Philips Hue Bridge (which can you can add additional lights to at any time), four dimmable soft white bulbs already paired to your bridge (no setup required!), and all the cables you need to hook it into power and your home network. Sure, the really fun Hue features come when you add colored bulbs, but this kit is the practical introduction. Now you can easily add dimming where you can't (or don't want to) wire in a dimming switch, and you get the added bonus of controlling your lights with literally any of the major voice assistants or smart home hubs. The only thing I don't completely love is the Hue bridge's bright blue status LEDs, but it's easy enough to tuck it away in a cabinet or point them toward the wall.

Great lights for a smart home

These are the first Hue lights I've installed in my home. The Hue bridge was relatively easy to set up. Once set up, you can add your lights to the bridge. I'm using 3 lights in my kitchen. One over my sink and two over an island. I really like the fact that I can turn on just the sink light or the island lights. Or I can turn them all on at one time. You really do have a lot of flexibility with them. I also put one in my living room in a floor lamp. I previously had a bright white bulb and this one is more of a soft white bulb. So pay attention to the bulb type before you put it in. If you are expecting bright white, this kit isn't it. I have the Amazon Echo Dot and hooked it up to Hue and now can turn the lights on and off with the Echo. This works for me nearly all the time. Every now and then I need to repeat myself, but not very often. It is also handy to be able to dim the lights. Just tell Alexa the percentage you want and she will adjust it. So the dimmer works great too. I have not set it up yet, but I plan on setting up some timers so it turns on and off automatically. I have not had any problems with my Hue lights since I set them up a couple weeks ago and would highly recommend them.

Value first - Bought it on Black Friday, so it was marked down to the price of the 4 bulbs only, i.e., the bridge came free with the bulbs. Set up was easy and works as expected. I voice control (with Google Home) 2 floor lamps and 2 table lamps with these 4 bulbs. Will try the color bulbs next and expect them to work just as well as these.

Bought this to use as a possible night light throughout my house for my little ones at anight and love them. I set them to work with my Google Home Mini and now just say the command "Hey Google Bedtime" and all the lights are dimmed to the lowest possible so the girls can see where they are going if they wake up in the middle of the night!

Love having smart lights in the house. You do kind of have to get use to not turning off the switch when leaving the room, but if you have a google mini or your phone/smart watch in hand, you can easily just turn off the lights. They are kind of expensive, but LEDs are and if you can get these on sell, well worth it!! You'll love being able to turn the lights off without going to the other room or turn on outside lights. You will also have dimming capabilities if you didn't have before, great product if you are tech abled.

My boyfriend helps me install the bulbs because my lights are too tall for me, but these work so great he bought some for his house. The app is really easy to use and I was even able to turn on the lights from work for my mom who had to go to my house to help with something. This is the best investment I have made. I do plan to buy more.

Very easy set up. White bulbs are nice because they cost less than the color or white ambiance. These are perfect for bathrooms, storage room, closets, etc! However, it would be worth spending a little more on the white ambiance to be able to soften the hue of the white in the evenings for bedrooms, dining, living, etc.

This was super easy to set up and I'm not good with technology and such. We have it hooked to our echo so it's even better as we can just ask Alexa to turn lights on and off. The dimming feature works fantastic and we use it often. We totally recommend this product. You won't be disappointed.

We bought these for my parents after we had bought some for ourselves 2 years ago. My parents are handicapped and they love these. It is easy for them to use and allows them to turn their lights on and off without having to get up. My parents also like the ability to dim the lights.

Great system, works well with my phone and Google home mini. This is my second starter kit to use in my office. I wish Phillips would allow 2 base station per account so I can use Google Home mini at work and at home. You can have multiple base station in the Phillips app, but it is cumbersome to switch between them. I use Google Home Mini to control the lights at home and just use the app at my office. Other than that, it is a great system.

They are very easy to set up and you can use the app to turn the lights or or sync it with Siri. However, I now have an echo dot and have it synced with Alexa. Now, when I walk into my home after work, I just tell Alexa what to turn on. No more having to get up in the dark :)

I love these lights! Not only are they incredibly easy to install (took sixty seconds), they actually are making my life easier. I don't have to leave lights on all day while I'm gone, but can still come home to a properly lit house. Setting routines is incredibly easy, too.

I am not new to voice activated equipment. I own a few wifi enabled outlets and have been using them with Amazon Alexa for a while now. I held off buying the Hue lights because they were expensive and I hadn't really seen them work in person, however, I regret that decision now. I bought the Hue White A19 Starter pack which comes with 4 bulbs and the Hue Bridge. I put two in my ceiling light in the bedroom, one in a bedroom lamp, and one in the livingroom lamp. I connected the bridge to my router with a LAN cable, downloaded the app and followed the instructions. Within 10 minutes, all of my lightbulbs were set up and ready to roll. It was a simple process. It is so nice to walk into the house with my hands full of groceries and telling my lights to come on and "voila!!", they do. I would recommend these lights to anyone...and I plan on buying more in the very near future.

This is the Philips Hue White A19 LED Starter Kit that I purchased. Set up was easy. Step 1: Install Philips Hue App and log in with google account or create new Hue account. Step 2: Connect Hue Bridge to your router. Step 3: Use the Hue app to set up the Hue Bridge. Step 4: Install bulbs, rename them and assign them to your desired rooms. Step 5: Link Google Home or Elexa, etc. to Hue Bridge. Step 6: Turn on/off these bulbs with your voice using google home/alexa/Siri, etc. You can also turn on/off these lights with your Hue App as well. Optional Step 7: You can install IFTTT App for more automatic lighting controls such as turning on lights when you arrive home, turning off light when you leave home. Automatically Turn on/off light at certain hours, tc. I am happy with this starter kit. Will buy more bulbs when they are on sale to install around the house. hng724

I have many hue products: the bulbs, strips, and standalone lights. The hue lighting system is mature and has had time to iron out any bugs and refine its controls and it shows. These lights all work off of zigbee so they have great range in addition to using each other as a repeater, so the bulb doesn’t have to be close to the base, just close to a bulb that’s close to a bulb that is close to the base and so on... if you have any issue with a light not receiving a command try changing the channel of the hue hub, some of the channels can overlap with WIFi and will cause issues. After making sure channels are not overlapping, the unit is rock solid: no reboots or repositioning even in a large house with frequent use. Works wonderfully with Alexa and with smartthings and is very easy to setup. I use them, I recommend them, I will buy more!

I have been looking at smart home items for a bit and picked up the Hue kit when Best Buy had a good sale on the item. The devices are super easy to set up and use. I’m using them with Apple Homekit; it only took a minute or two to get alll the devices set up. I really like the dimming ability and scheduling the lights to turn on and off based on the location of my iPhone.

I had my eye on this pack for a while. My partner and I had been looking into turning our home into a smart home, and after hours of research, we decided to go for the Philips hue white A19 starter kit. We couldn’t be more pleased! We bought a google home mini as well, and they work wonderfully together. Being able to speak to your home to turn the living room lights on to 80% when you’re arriving with hands full of groceries is amazing! We may buy the color lightbulbs down the line, but these are perfect for now! We also loved that it came with the hub, which you’ll need to bridge the lightbulbs to the internet/smart devices.
