Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Hue White A19 LED Starter Kit's ease of use, brightness control, and compatibility with smart home systems like Apple HomeKit and Alexa. Many appreciate the simple setup and the ability to automate lighting schedules. However, some customers find the price to be a significant drawback, and a few have experienced issues with the app's functionality and the range of the bridge. The overall experience is positive for most users, but potential buyers should consider these minor drawbacks.

I'm a little dense with setting up electronics. The interface for setting up rooms and lights was challenging for me but afterwards having the convenience of voice commands through Alexa was fantastic. I like being able to "turn off the lights" in the whole place at bedtime or turn on the porch light when a visitor rings at odd hours in the dark without letting them know I'm home. Very nice to have the lights come on automatically when I'm a few blocks away on those early dark winter nights.

Slowly converting all rooms to smart lighting. The Philips setup is very easy to set up and pairs very well with the Alexa app.

It works well. It was confusing at first because there wasn't very detailed instructions and you need to make an account or download the app. You can control the light bulb from your phone but the light switch has to be flipped on the whole time so you can't really use the physical light switch on the wall anymore because if you flip the light switch off, you can't control the light bulb on your phone.

I was against buying into the HUE system for quite some time, I finally did and I can't express how amazing it is. I have them all tied into my google home now and I just tell it to turn on/off certain rooms or lights within room and Its amazing!! It makes leaving the house so much simpler. It also turns the lights on and off when I leave and come home based on my phones location!!! Plus the fact that the LEDs are energy efficient I can't express how happy I am with the purchase. Ive bought lights for every fixture I have. It is totally worth the investment!

Awesome product. I wanted to make my home a smarter home. I was not sure how. I initially thought I would be required to buy all new light fixtures rewire my outlets, a major investment in time and money. Then I was told by a Best Buy CSR about the Phillips Hue Starter Kit. It is simple and easy to install and use. If can screw in a light blub, download an app and connect a wifi you can make you home smarter. I love the fact my antique lamps that are a pull chain on off are now completed dimmable. This is an awesome feature. Must have product!!!!

There seems to be 2 sides, those who hate home automation and those who go absolutely crazy and automate everything. I find myself somewhere in the middle, I have a smart doorbell and a Google Home Hub. Then I thought it would be cool to have a way to turn on/off the most frequently used lights in our house through Google. It was extremely easy to pair and it works flawlessly. This is a perfect starter kit for those wanting to experiment with the whole home automation thing.

I like the bulbs and the concept. I find the hub makes adding bulbs and setting them up fairly easy but the interface is a little clunky. It does, however, work with Apple Homekit and since everything in my house is Mac/iOS that's a plus. Homekit doesn't immediately see what you set up with the Hue app, though, so there's extra steps involved. Overall good but could stand some improvements.

Useful but need better integration with Alexa

Setup: Easy to setup, good and clear instructions which really make the hub and blubs come up in no time. So that part is good. Also, upto 64 bulbs can be connected to one hub, which is good to know, as that can be one parameter important to most people, as nobody wants to have multiple hubs for controlling bulbs. Voice control: The use of these bulbs can only serve their purpose to the fullest if they have seamless integration with Smart Speakers like Alexa or Googlehome. Not sure if somebody has issues with google home other brands, but we have this issue of ghost like behavior where lights turn off or on at night by themselves. Me, as a nonbeliever in ghost, I will put my money on lack of integration between Hue firmware and Alexa app.

Easy set up on phones, works perfectly with Alexa. More fun than necessary in our house, but we like them. Thinking our next will be colored bulbs.

I’d like these to be a bit less expensive with their limited range. The dimming feature is nice though. I have them as temporary lights until I upgrade to the color version mostly for the full range of whites. These are only a warm yellow.

The white light has a nice, natural glow, and I love controlling these lights from my phone and Goggle Home device. My only complaint is the setup. It's not impossible, but it took much more time than I expected with all of the troubleshooting. I think the problem stemmed form integration of the Hue app with Apple Home & Google Home (my house has both phone platforms being used).
