you can change the colors and set them up to come on when you get in range of your house or do all of this on your phone

I love the idea and the lights work well for the most part. Sometimes the app has some bugs that get annoying (geofencing and scene settings) but it is getting better and I get good use from it. I especially enjoy using the Hue lighting with my Sleep Cycle app that wakes me up in the morning!

Fun item, a little more expensive than should be but you pay for what you get.

We bought the kit with three bulbs and a controller. It is awesome to change the light to any color you want or use the pre-programmed themes. The app is easy to use and hooks up in seconds, just follow the simple instructions. Wish I had more lights to fill all the rooms, but it's a bit pricey. Other than the price, I would highly recommend them.

First, they are expensive! That being said, they are very cool. Programmable to different colors to set the mood. Also can control the brightness. On the surface they sound kind of over the top. And you can have them sync with music if you want. The best syncing that we have found is with a television show (12 Monkeys) on Syfy channel. The lights change colors and dim or brighten to mimic the background colors on the television. Wish that there were more show like that!

4 stars only because I think everything is just a little over priced. But they all work amazingly and make life so much easier and saved you more money than you would think.

I like the ability to change colors, brightness, etc via phone or tablet. At times the lights won't respond and need to be reset.

Bought these for my son for college and after seeing all they could do I had to buy a set for my bar.

The product seems a bit expensive but works as advertised. I got it with the Tap which I recommend as you want to be able to operate them without a mobile phone.

I originally thought it just looked cool, now that I have it & set a bunch of different color schemes everyone is blown away and think it's awesome. There are so many different colors and combinations & can set so many moods from high energy to relaxing, studying, or party changing colors with different apps, an absolute great buy.

Hue is an interesting experiment, and if you can live with some of the shortcomings, it is a great smartphone controlled light kit. So Let me start with the obvious and get it out: Hue is expensive and not something anybody really needs. Now that we have that out of the way, it's one of those examples of a cool technology. It is incredibly easy to set up. Download an app, plug the bridge into your router and off you go! Normally, you turn on and off a light from the light switch. One of the downsides of the Hue is that you need to get the smartphone you set up in order to turn off the light. So in my case, I can't use the iPad on the living room to turn off the lights. I have to use my smartphone which means I have to go and see where I put it. Hopefully, Philips will address this with a software update. Another con is that the lights have a limited brightness (600 lumens) Overall, it is a great light kit that can give some ambience light and make it fun.

Overall it's ok if you can afford it. It's a bit pricey for a mood light but makes a great difference on how your living room will look at night.

I really enjoy how many colors the bulbs can produce.
