Customers highly value the brightness, ease of use, and quality of the Hue Bluetooth Lightstrip Plus 40-inch Extension. Many found installation straightforward, but some experienced compatibility issues with older systems and wished for longer extension lengths. A few users mentioned concerns about the adhesive strength and connection security. The product's positive aspects outweigh the negative feedback regarding length, adhesive, and compatibility.

This isn’t compatible with the original lightstrip I already have. Buyer be warn hHe updated this reproduce from 6 pin (V3) to micro 6 (V4) pin din’t add connector and didn’t even note this on the packaging. I’m genuinely shocked and OMW to the store to return my 3 boxes of Hue extension trips. Very frustrated! Why not adding a smile connector or label in the box? Waste of time!

I've never written a review before so this goes to show how disappointed I am. I even had to return my starter kit because of malfunctions in the LED part of the lightstrip. Now, I deal with a little broken prong in the extension and now it's useless. I hate how a little prong not even the size of a millimeter can ruin the rest of the 1 meter product. Now I have to hope for the best with customer service after I had to wait almost a month to receive a replacement for my starter kit.

Had to return. Philips changed the male and female connector so these won’t work with the version that comes with an 80in + 40in set.

Overpriced, But Reliable.

High- quality and reliable. That's why I choose Philips brand products. Ridiculously overpriced, indeed they are!
This being said, Philips is the only brand of smart electronics that always work the first time when it comes to setting them up and working. Very bright as well.
**Please note that there are two types of Philips HUE light strips, so make sure this will fit your model or version*

Best RGB on the Market for a Smart Home

Phillips hue Lighting is one of - if not the best on the market for whole-home lighting. While it is not the biggest in price to performance we might be shocked to find out that it poses a bigger value than originally anticipated.
Let's start with the Home Ecosystem - this works with google home and apple home with EASE! I originally had Homekit as my original Home ecosystem however I switched to google because I prefer the ecosystem better and it has better integration with my Nest Cameras. However, this isn't about google home or Homekit! The lights are easily broken up into rooms to be called on at any moment be it lights on/off, change color, brightness, or if you have them integrated into your routine they can be controlled on a light-by-light basis giving you maximum control.
The Phillips Hue App - This is how all apps should be, you could be convinced that this is a product owned by apple as it is THAT refined. The app gives you full home accessibility with or without a whole smart home ecosystem and it works QUICK. You can automate the lights to go on or off at times or when you come/leave home using a geolocator (the location of your phone vs the activation circle of your home) and to my surprise, it was pretty accurate.
The LED lights/strips themselves are quite bright - enough that they can not be above 25% at night even as a walkway light, so do not fear that they will not fill up a room because they will. the Build quality is great and I have never received one that didn't work (and I have well over 10 bulbs, 7 or 8 strips, enough to know) out of the box. The only caveat I have against the lights is particularly against the LED strips and the 3m tape. It is great for MOST applications however on soft surfaces or the back of some TV's you will need to use another adhesive (I use alien tape or a good double-sided sticky) to make them stick long term. The lights are also all well sized and well cabled so if you don't want anyone to see a light in your kitchen they never will!
Warranty - I did have to warranty one LED strip because it would light up two different colors (and no these lights don't have gradient built into them unless you get the wall LED's that specifically state they have gradient color lighting) when it was supposed to only be white so therefore I had my first RMA. It was effortless and smooth with zero complaints. There was no RMA hero as it was just a quick call and easy process.
Longevity - I have had bulbs going on 4 years of everyday use and they still are just as bright as my newer bulbs and as far as LED strips none of mine have started to fade or have diodes die.
Overall - I couldn't recommend these lights more for a cohesive integration into everyday life. While they might be on the more expensive side of Lights you get what you pay for here and you can do some funky stuff with them - for instance, I use the exterior LED lights inside because it is easy to make cool quick wall art out of them. If you are going to spend the money to convert your whole home over to a light eco system, spend the money and do it right so you never have to do it again. Phillips Hue stands behind their products and so do I.

Very happy with the Hue products, set up is easy. Wish they would offer other lengths for extensions. Looks like you are able to cut / mend other strips now with the new version. Would be nice if the connection was a little more solid than just 6 tiny pins pushing into their respective sockets.

These is a great set of strip lights extensions that are much brighter than needed but as always with the Phillips Hue lights are dimmable and can change to millions of colors or work in a white to yellow color schedule.
We are remodeling our bathroom and have one primary light strip of 6 ft but are using this extension for the additional 2 foot of length that we need. It is very easy to cut the strip - very clear markings on how to do it and where - and to connect them into another Hue light strip.
We are using these strips instead of traditional fixture lights as we can control this with our phones, Alexa, or the light switch that the power receptacle is connected.
I know they are a bit more expensive than other lights but it is well worth it as these lights do NOT have a 60 Hz signal which personally bothers me from other LED light strips.
This will be the third set of Hue light strips that we have placed in our home and we enjoy all of them!

I am sure many individuals are a bit skeptical prior to purchasing this set of LED light strips due to the massive price differences compared to LED light strips on amazon. From experience, the cheaper alternatives tend to fail over time whereas this set certainly holds its quality and brightness. Definitely recommend this to everybody. Whether it be adding lighting to your gaming setup or just anywhere in the household, these are awesome!

Found this out the hard way, this light strip is a new generation and will not work with previous HUE light strips out of the box. Different connectors.
I'm sure you can find compatibility connectors on Amazon in the near future.

This item an extension. I am part of the philips hue ecosystem and choice was pretty easy for me. Just sticking with what works. There is cheaper led strips but very few match the brightness and quality of philips hue. When buying pay attention to the model, this one is the one with Bluetooth and led and extension must match or else it won't connect.

Troubleshooting required.

Difficulties with connection across the length of the strip. Usually 5+ leds on a section nearest the middle will have disconnection problems. This presents itself in the form of the whole extension going out, flashing or not having certain colors light up. Finding where the loose connection is requires pressing down on every inch with all lights on. The problem will fix (lights on or colors correct) only while pressing down on the trouble spot. Strongly recommend eye protection during this process. Solutions are whatever you're comfortable with. Exchanges wont likely help, this is a very common problem on this model.
