The hue bridge works well and is very easy to set up. It is quite simple to add lights and section them into designated rooms or groupings using the app. I look forward to purchasing some outdoor lights when they are back in stock.

I love that I can control my lights to turn them on, off, dim, brighten. and, connected to a home hub (Alexa, Google Home...), I can talk to my lights to control them. So nice and convenient. Easy to set up and use.

Though the packaging for the Philips Hue lights do indeed make it clear that you need this to control your lights through voice, I wish it was larger. Setting up the Hue was simple enough and so far I haven't had any issues with connection. The Philips Hue light make the bridge worth the buy!

Easy to use and connect, only downside (given what age we live in) is that it requires a hard line into your router. I have a mesh system so have it close enough to my TV but that may be a deterrent to some.
No qualms beyond that and that one really isn't all that bad.

I wasn't aware I needed the bridge to make the strip lights work when I purchased them for my son's room. Guess I overlooked that part some how.
it was very easy to setup and has lots of color options.

No HomeKit integration for non-Hue bulbs

This hub allows you to control third party smart bulbs not made by Philips. While Philips did bring back this feature, you can no longer control non-Philip Hue bulbs via Siri or in HomeKit. This is due to Apple's restriction of only allowing those features to "Homekit" certified bulbs. If you don't have Homekit certified smart bulbs you are better off getting the 1st Gen Philips Hub and saving about $30.

Not a lot of detailed instruction or information and I am going OK how does this thing work. They basically tell you to plug it in and push the button. Guess what? THAT IS WHAT YOU DO - and it simply works. Using it with a Google Home that I was given for Christmas and the Hue lights. Love it.

this was super easy to get setup however truly not essential except for the fact Phillips makes you buy it to control the lights. If the app could do scheduled turn off and on like the SmartThings does (in correlation) then this would be a lot more helpful. Changing colors and adding new lights can be too simple sometimes because when I light has problems figuring it out can be a major pain..

We purchased the Hue as a solution for controlling our outdoor lights. We cannot use a photocell sensor for dawn and dusk because the lights are under an eave and we could not easily install a timer switch. We gave the Hue a try and it works great. Only one glitch, after software updates the schedule may be off for a day, but it usually corrects itself.

HUE bridge is needed for HUE lights

Yes the HUE lights are more expensive than others but the colors that the HUE bulbs can produce are more vibrant. The bride is essential and the backbone to the HUE network. Works with Alexa very well and has been fun retro-fitting the house with these bulbs.

I know why your here. Let me say this, you buy this and you will be buying hue lights for every thing. Its crazy how comfortable when You install all your lights in your home with this device. But it comes with a high price. Expect to invest in a few hundred dollars after buying this.
